    Beyond the obvious cataracts, lacking a reaction to bright light is the best way to determine blindness. On a tangent, Charlie Cox, the actor who plays Daredevil wore contacts designed to reduce light intake, to stop his eyes from moving and better convey Matt's blindness. However, he also said they were painful to wear, and he legitimately struggled to see in them, as a result, between Season 1 and Season 2, he took to studying blind people's faces and trained his eyes to stay looking in one direction; he did this a bit too well, as he's also admitted he now struggles to go through auditions without slipping back into that blind-mindset.

    • @ayesakara

      Charlie’s stopped wearing the contacts after the first few days of filming because it was too much hassle.

      You can really tell too, in most of his interviews and such these days, he almost has a vacant look to his eyes and always seems like he's not quite focused on what he's looking towards. I think it's a good example of just how much of himself he poured into this role, so much so that Daredevil stayed a part of him even after the show ended

    14:11 I don't know if anyone has said this or not but the reason she was checking his pupils with a flashlight is to check and see whether his pupils dilated due to the light this is a check that is often used when checking the vital signs of a person to see if they're okay. Generally whether someone is unconscious or not their eyes will still react to light therefore a quick flash to the eyes is a quick way to make an approximation of how gone a person is. However due to the fact that he's blind his eyes don't react to light anyways therefore that check came up inconclusive and likely made her think that he was either dead or very close to being dead. Which is why she immediately afterwards get scared when he grabs her hand

    Yep, Daredevil is blind. The radioactive waste that blinded him as a kid, elevated all of his other senses to superhuman levels. While many blind people have learned to train their senses to levels exceeeding that of sighted people (and Matt has too), his senses go far beyond that. He's like Spider-Man, except instead of becoming physically stronger and faster his sense of hearing, smell, touch were boosted off the charts.
    It's also a fun bit of trivia that the same radioactive liquid that affected young Matt Murdock seeped down into the sewers and created the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ;)

      Wilson Fisk, also is known as Kingpin. You might remember him from Into the Spider Verse; the massive mobster with no neck and a tiny head perched above shoulders that would look appropriate on a gorilla. He is demented and out of control, which is how he beat Spiderman to death.

    One of the things that make Daredevil seem so raw and authentic, other than just perfect choreography and Charlie Cox's sheer dedication, is the fact that Daredevil has NO powers aside from his senses. That makes him just a baseline human when it comes to fighting so anything he does has to be attributed to pure skill and superior battlefield awareness and this show excels and demonstrating this. Everything we see Daredevil do seems completely plausible for someone to pull off in real life if they were really that good at fighting and all his actions take a realistic toll on his body. It really helps draw you into the show when you realize that your MC can be taken out be any random mook on the street and you ACTUALLY see that come close to happening a few times.

The all black look is also a sort of intimidation factor. Knowing this, and knowing that kid is scared as all hell, he pauses outside the door and lifts his mask. He's no longer the "Devil of Hell's Kitchen" (as he becomes known while dressed like this) looking for a fight, he's Matt Murdock here to help a kid reunite with his father. You may have heard some vague mentions of something they are referring to in the show as "the incident". They're referring to the Battle of New York from the first Avengers film, this was Canon to the MCU before, until after one point it stopped being Canon.
    Also 9:16 this guy you may recognize from Shawshank Redemption, he was the warden guy in it.
    Really love the cinematic lighting in some of the scenes... cuz this is something I don't remember seeing in any of the MCU shows I've watched... All this isn't really necessary. Daredevil season 1 and 2 are must watch. Punisher season 1 is a must watch. Jessica Jones season 1 is a really good self contained story. Luke Cage season 1 is probably something that needs to be watched. The Defenders catches the audience up with a lot of things in unnecessary seasons of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones in the other seasons and those seasons really don't need to be watched at all. I feel Iron Fist is so much better if you never watched the shows and only watched The Defenders. After Defenders you can watch season 3 of Daredevil, which is phenomenal.
      Jessica Jones season 2 and 3, all the Iron Fist series, Luke Cage season 2, and The Punisher season 2 are filler seasons.

    Goddamn i love daredevil. He's my favorite comic character ever and this show is just masterful at putting him on screen.
    The newer comics have him training a sidekick called blind spot. Blind spot has a suit he stole from Stark that basically gives him a stealth like ability. Matt continually spars with him. One comic the kid asks how many times he has to get his ass kicked and matt says "until you can beat me". Kid says something to the effect of "I have the suit from Stark". Matt responds "You could drop Tony in the desert and he'd fly out in a suit made of cactus and said. His suit isn't his power, his brain is. Try using yours and you may be able to beat me".
    DD is an absolute badass. He's also, i believe, the first super hero to figure out Spidermans identity on his own. The two have a very close friendship in the comics.

    Not in the MCU, they wanted it to be but Feige, who’s in charge of the MCU & connecting everything, wasn’t involved & they couldn’t legally tie it in clearly or say character names from the MCU. You can look at the defenders universe as it’s own thing, in a very similar universe to the MCU

      @TheTurbanator123 Год назад

      I see it as a one way street. The events of avengers 2012 or some invasion did happen. The movies effect the shows but the shows never effect the movies. Keep in mind kevin fiege are using the same actor for matt murdock daredevil. I dont believe fans and new fans are discouraged to watch this daredevil series. It may not be completely canon but it kind of is. Like it's in a middle place where unless we see something that specifically tells us it's not it still is totally connected.
      Edit I'd also add this show was in the featured category of disney plus while she hulk had it's full run. Kevin feige wants people to watch this show for better or worse.
