For this album, the soprano and pianist have assembled a well-balanced programme of Fauré, Debussy, Ravel, and Poulenc. Extending from the 1870s to the 1940s, it juxtaposes audience favorites - such as Fauré’s discreetly passionate ‘Après un rêve’ and Poulenc’s nostalgic waltz ‘Les Chemins de l’amour’ - with more rarely heard songs.

Her repertoire is very limited. She is a colorature soprano, meaning most soprano roles are inaccessible to her voice.
@@pureffm I know she is a coloratura. This doesn’t make me love her tone any less knowing her repertoire might be limited 🤷🏼♀️
So rare to hear such a beautifully balanced and clear voice these days.

@@JacquelineLanceTenor Yep. Many voices nowadays excess colatura and it sounds unpleasant to me. Findeing her was a good discovering.
@@marcoespinosamx I believe Sabine still is (or has been) somewhat of an expert in coloratura, so perhaps this is a new avenue for her. Sounds great either way.

Comme d'habitude, Sabine Devieilhe donne cette impression que chanter aussi bien ne lui demande aucun effort... C'est lumineux, naturel, elle n'en fait jamais trop... Et cette dernière note en prime... Bien sûr, le jeu d'Alexandre Tharaud, tout en finesse, contribue largement à obtenir ce superbe résultat, sobre et aérien. Merci à ces deux magnifiques artistes de nous offrir leur talent !

I can never thank enough the person who introduced me to classical music. I am so glad I am not deaf and I can hear this beautiful music. Just think what life is like for deaf people who will never be able to hear this beautiful song.

This is absolutely stunning....I can’t remember when I’ve heard this sung so beautifully and with such intelligence. I truly love it when a classical singer clears every bar in terms of the qualities that I really cherish, bc it’s just so rare, and Sabine Devieilhe does that, in spades!

I have a few favorite sopranos for different qualities. Ms. Devieilhe is the best I know of for being able to FLOAT into the highest of register with seeming effortlessness and maintain sweetness and lightness to her voice; she is the MASTER of the top of the register!
