I was expecting the same old basic exploration glitch and other stuff when I saw this, but MOST of this stuff I had no idea about. Blew my mind wide open.
I think that the barrier between the dark and light worlds continued to deteriorate and thus the bird was able to enter the dark world. Remember, you can access the dark world through the main gate to the castle after the first Agahnim battle. But that's just a theory... If not, then the eagles probably could have flown the Hobbits to Mount Doom or something.

The GBA version has you able to use a glitch to force your way into the Four Sword Dungeon without ever playing Four Swords. I'm going strictly by memory, but it involves you getting into the Thieves' Town dungeon. I don't remember which ledge it is in the 4 big rooms at the start but you need to bomb jump off of it to be able to go through the walls. If you can meander your way through the glitchy mess of rooms, you'll find yourself in the Palace of the Four Sword slightly past the mook who blocks you from entering if you never played Four Swords. The dungeon isn't easy, as you'll face tougher versions of several dungeon bosses before facing off against a new final boss.

How crazy. All these years later, learning about the MANY glitches. I may only be inclined to do one or two of them myself, but it is very interesting to see them, and what can be done. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
there is a randomizer out there that makes alttp super replayable, there are so many glitches in the japanese version that you use in the rando, most of these are major glitches, most of the japanese ones are minor but you can use some of these as well. also you don't have to understand japanese to play the rando all of the text is removed anyway
This was the hardest game to beat in my childhood, well compared to Tom and Jerry on the NES anyway. The super bomb never appeared in my original playthrough on my cartridge. Years later, I load up the game on a whim. See the bomb and promptly get that rush of adrenaline. Nothing compares to the feeling you get when you overcome something a younger version of yourself struggled with. Ever since then every LoZ game that has a custom name available is always 'GOD...', in memory of that original save files name, to remind myself that it may take time but any problem can be overcome :)
24:03 "But both of those options are gross and I don't like 'em." Understandable, please continue :D "I'm mostly just using our current situation to show this glitch off." Approved, please continue xD
This is my favorite Zelda. As good as BOTW, OOT, and Wind Waker are they just don't do what this game did for me. This game was a major part of my childhood, it was everything to me. edit: oops. Whole reason I commented.... This was incredible! One of the best Zelda guides I've seen in a LONG time. Its seriously impressive how well this was put together. Bravo.
What a wonderful game, to be around when this was released was quite something. The SNES was such a badass console, the first to transition the perception of gaming from kids' stuff to adult
I’m sure someone has already pointed this out, but if not… At Ganon’s Tower, if you mirror to the entrance from a conveyor belt the momentum is conserved and you can then use a Somaria block to clip into the left side of the wall to move past the loading zone for outside and transition down one screen. Ironically, the first screen of the tower is right above the last screen of the tower right before the Aganhim fight.
I played the hell outta this game when I was in 3rd grade. Hands down one of the best zelda games ever made. Didn’t need fancy graphics to make a genuinely fun game. Just great all around gameplay, with puzzles and dungeons and sprinkle in a few head scratchers!!!
This is one game that I never had a chance to beat back in the day. I think I might have to bust out the system and finally beat the game naturally after all these years. These glitches were hella cool and it's awesome how people discovered them. Pretty cool.

6:03 I love that smooth transition to the Final Fantasy X "Battle Theme" using the Link to the Past timbre 😂 The song is "The Silly Pink Rabbit!" by SilvaGunner for anyone interested.
Ok… so this video was amazing. I was pretty riveted to a nearly 35 min. video without skipping anything and watching it in its entirety. That is saying something. I Have played LTTP a zillion times and only recently on the switch did I attempt and succeed at the Hyrule Castle speed run glitch. After seeing this video, there is no flipping way I am trying this. But I really enjoyed the video. Great editing, I loved the breakdown and explanation of how things are the way they are. Thank you for the entertainment and revisiting a classic from my childhood.
I love Link to the Past. My first zelda game. Played it on my aunts old SNES and I pretty much hit my head against the wall everytime I played it. I eventually looked up a guide and started progressing in the game. I think I spent 20 hours trying to get past the first dungeon, took me a long time to understand the controls and everything else. Didn't help that the cartridge I had a bad map, like I select the map and all I would get was a white screen with the objectives on it. I pretty much had to Zelda 1 that game with out having a map
The GBA port of link to the past was the first time I heard of the series. My best friend introduced it to me the day we met on the bus for school. Been in love with the series ever since. 🗡️ 🧚♀️
The first glitch I ever learned was a version of dark mountain decent using the broken bridge in the dark world. In my opinion it’s easier if you don’t know how to buffer into the walls. It’s a simpler version of portal shifting. But your way is definitely faster. Also, I’m surprised you didn’t mention the torch glitch for ganon. It makes you always be able to see him and it’s fairly easy with the lamp. Not saying your info or video is bad by any means. It was the first I have seen by you, and I very much enjoyed it. Very informative and well put together. Especially when talking about EG and key duplication. Great job.
@@PhobiaSoft I didn’t know that. I play rando and that’s what we use for it. So I didn’t realize that was something cut out of the US game. I knew some were but other than fake flipper, didn’t know exactly what. Thanks for the reply as well
14:23 "Even though we still don't have a sword, saving Zelda, for some reason, unlocked the ability for Link to swing his arm with B as though he does." I KNOW THE REASON! The reason is that, at the beginning of the game, you are given an invisible follower. While this invisible follower is following you, your ability to swing your arm is disabled. This invisible follower is also responsible for the telepathic plea once every 60 seconds that you get from Zelda. This invisible follower goes away after you speak with your uncle. However, once you reach Zelda, she becomes your follower and, like when you have no follower, does not prevent you from swinging your arm. Bringing her to the Sanctuary plays a cutscene that moves her to her rescue location. Once you leave the sanctuary, you have an empty follower slot and may swing your arm freely. I am certain this is also how the digging minigame works: when you choose to play the game, you are given an invisible follower that changes your Y button function from whatever your item is to the shovel. Notably, you cannot play this minigame if you have the frog (blacksmith), purple chest, or super bomb following you. BTW, those Sandshrew-looking things are called Deadrocks, and everybody hates them. If you manage to light the left torch while fighting Ganon before the right torch goes out, BTW, the right torch will remain lit for the entire fight, which saves a bit on magic.
Patiently answering the same question about silver arrows over and over for a year. That's dedication. By the way, the Citrus Clip is also named after the same Yuzuhara of Yuzuhara's Bottle Adventure fame - a yuzu being a citrus fruit native to Japan and in the glitch hunter's name. They are responsible for a significant portion of glitches discovered and used in the game. Interesting to see what a major glitches ver. 1.2 run might look like.
Fun fact, during a somewhat recent playthrough of this game, I couldn't remember how to reach that Fire Rod chest...so I just bomb jumped over it. Actually, more accurately, I just damage boosted myself across the hole with a bomb, and it worked. So good to know that's an even better way to do it in the future.
would love to see someone get every item in the game before it even starts, then go through the game. i bet a silver arrow or the biggest sword would slaughter all of the bosses.
Neat route. Glad you showed some of this stuff off. Great video! My fav glitch, which is Japanese 1.0 only sadly, is item dashing: If you press Dash and Item on the same frame, you can do crazy stuff like dash with the hammer!
8:15 The 1st Zelda game worked the same way. All of the dungeons were fitted in like puzzle pieces in that one also (but I think they ACTUALLY stayed within their dungeons and no rooms were broken off to fit fill in spaces).
one thing I'm very proud of is findind Chris' room without even knowing anything about it. just casual tryouts of what was possible in the game, and then just found it...
It's really funny that you said, "I could really get used to this infinite big key thing", right when you're picking up the moon pearl, because the thought crossed my mind - when I was playing this as a 10 year old in about 1998 - that went something like, "Isn't there a way around these damn big keys!?". They're actually was the whole time.
I just watched one of your ocarina of time videos. Your awsome man I like the way you explain how things are done. I feel it makes it very understandable and you make it feel as though its not impossible to do tough things and it just takes practice
Thanks for the video, I do randomizers for this game and there were certainly a few here i was aware of but havent successfully completed yet. This game has such a treasure trove of glitches that weren't even talked about, but this is certainly the best way to kill ganon in the regular game. Maybe another video in the future going over how some of these glitches can be used in other contexts, or the glitches not mentioned? like using dash buffering to hover over pits or some of the more simple glitches like flipperskip or diver down
Using the screen wrap in the overworld, I've been able to even access very weird "garbage" screens that crash the game instantly upon entering. Also you can find "dummy" versions of familiar looking screens that are very corrupted, and going in the wrong direction instantly pixel-fades out the screen like when you enter the woods. Using a walk through walls code reveals that these screens just duplicate their terrain infinitely if you keep going, so there's no way to leave them once you've entered them. Another thing...in the second smaller underworld (I think is what causes this), it looks like entering a building using this second map, then exiting, will NOT fix a screen wrap. You are normal when entering the building, but upon exiting, you're shadowless Link in the wrong place again XD
As you mentioned, I have this game downloaded on my 3DS. I purchased the virtual console game right before the eshop closed. I figured it would be an excellent classic to have in storage on my 3DS, and it is. I'm actually playing through it right now. BUT... I just cannot figure out for the life of me why nintendo chose the SNES port instead of the GBA remake! It honestly makes no sense. They went with the DX version for Links Awakening, all the NES mario games are from the SNES Allstars game. The GBA version is just so much more crisp and I love the voice sounds that they added from OOT. I am glad that I was able to get the game though and so I'm having fun playing through it and getting lost as it's been such a long time since I've played it.
When I first got this game I played for hours at a time and eventually beat the game. I did however learn later these games contained glitches and for me it was easier to perform some glitches in Zelda Ocarina of Time 64 and even Perfect Dark 64 than glitches in Zelda A Link to the Past. I tried to get the glitches to work and couldn't do that like the other two games. I also found something called cartridge tilting that helped me in Zelda Ocarina of Time 64 as well and I finally beat the game, it took me less time to beat Zelda A Link to the Past and Zelda Majora's Mask combined. Those are the games I like the best, cool and retro! Play On! 🎮
Well, sheesh. I didn't know much about The Legend of Zelda as a series, but ever since the ALttP Randomizer came out, I've been fiercely getting into it... So I owe you quite the thanks for showing us some of those feats of wondrous skill. I know I'm going to use and abuse Bomb Jumping real hard from now on. PS: Props for beating Ganon with just 5 Hearts and the Green Tunic.
I remember a couple of years back playing way too much this game. I made some small glitches to collect all items in a random way but within the game rules.
Citrus is really rough, yeah. It took me hours to get it once and it always looked like I was doing everything right. All I can say is don't give up, one of these attempts will randomly be the one

Interesting to see what a major glitches ver. 1.2 run might look like.
Very professionally done! Liked, subscribed, commenting for the algorithm
Respect for finishing that that quick. Nice vid. Thanks for making
Sprinkle some magic powder on that chicken under the pot, and see what happens.
This just got you a new sub. I love this game probably my favorite of all time. Loved the content.
would love to see someone get every item in the game before it even starts, then go through the game. i bet a silver arrow or the biggest sword would slaughter all of the bosses.
Neat route. Glad you showed some of this stuff off. Great video!
My fav glitch, which is Japanese 1.0 only sadly, is item dashing: If you press Dash and Item on the same frame, you can do crazy stuff like dash with the hammer!

The 1st Zelda game worked the same way. All of the dungeons were fitted in like puzzle pieces in that one also (but I think they ACTUALLY stayed within their dungeons and no rooms were broken off to fit fill in spaces).
You can get a number of "endings" on this game - dif sheilds and sword combos. :D
Ganon watching this video after he swears Link was killed by a Sandshrew.
Yes
one thing I'm very proud of is findind Chris' room without even knowing anything about it. just casual tryouts of what was possible in the game, and then just found it...
I'm cry!
This was beautiful!
I played this game before i couldnt read, great memories.😊
I just watched one of your ocarina of time videos. Your awsome man I like the way you explain how things are done. I feel it makes it very understandable and you make it feel as though its not impossible to do tough things and it just takes practice
love the video, but was surprised at the lack of torch glitch during Gannon fight. keep up the great work and thanks for this vid
The torch glitch is Japanese 1.00 only
@@PhobiaSoft makes a lot of sense then. I kinda forget other versions are played
@@SinisteaSado No problem! Glad you liked the vid!
Thanks for the video, I do randomizers for this game and there were certainly a few here i was aware of but havent successfully completed yet. This game has such a treasure trove of glitches that weren't even talked about, but this is certainly the best way to kill ganon in the regular game. Maybe another video in the future going over how some of these glitches can be used in other contexts, or the glitches not mentioned? like using dash buffering to hover over pits or some of the more simple glitches like flipperskip or diver down
Sadly Flipperless swimming can only be done in the Japanese version of the game :(
@@PhobiaSoft That makes a lot of sense, as the randomizer uses the 1.0 japanese version to make all of the seeds
12:48 Zelda casually following Link out of bounds made my day
You saying “…chickens?!” When picking up the pot was so funny.
This is freaking MADNESS
Shout out to the alttpr glitches community.
This is top-notch quality.
Play On! 🎮
This is my favourite video on RUclips!!!🎉🎉
That first glitch was mean!!!! Thanks for this video. This is my favorite zelda game.
Your channel rocks. Keep it up dude
You just blew my freaking mind!
12:28 - That's a fantastic visual!
Dude. This is a great video, absolutely loved it! Keep up the quality work my man.
I remember a couple of years back playing way too much this game. I made some small glitches to collect all items in a random way but within the game rules.
ALTTP is still my favorite game of all time!
and I thought the "bunny hop" was the best glitch ever! XD
fascinating video ! I learned a lot, even though a follow randomizer speedrun and all. Great job !
"Discovered by the speedrunner of the same name."
I'm really impressed that there's a speedrunner named Yuzuhara's Bottle Adventure.
Wow so much work into this video, thanks a lot its amazing
Can't get that citrus glitch going to save my life.
Citrus is really rough, yeah. It took me hours to get it once and it always looked like I was doing everything right. All I can say is don't give up, one of these attempts will randomly be the one
I loved that video this Zelda and the second one for the nes are my favorite ones another great video
At 15:19 it looks like the old man is chasing you in the dark and you’re running for your life to get away from him LMAO
