    I thought this one was a huge step up from an already great first film! I was worried about the runtime initially but it felt full of interesting plots and fights that I never got bored. I am very curious as to where the story is going though after the teaser at the end... Enjoy :)

    You may not remember it, but at the end of the first movie when Charles and Eric are playing chess their conversation basically gives a foreshadowing synopsis of X-2. Eric says "doesn't it wake you in the middle of the night, that someone may come for your children" Charles says "I feel a great swell of pity for the poor soul who comes to that school looking for trouble." Eric then says "this plastic prison of theirs won't hold me forever, war is still coming and I intend to fight it" 😅

      I also liked when Eric said to Charles in the first movie ,"They'll have you chains ⛓️ with numba buried in your forehead" that foreshadowed that Eric will never forget what happened to him to also what could happen to Charles if he continues to be so cavalier..in due time but he suggested it as a word of caution as well..

    One of the saddest things about Lady Deathstrikes (female wolverine) death is that if you notice when mutants are being controlled by Striker, their eyes are blue. When she's being filled with adamantium, her eyes are back to brown, meaning her normal self would be experiencing the death!

    • @ScooterBond1970
      @ScooterBond1970 12 дней назад +5

      People are afraid of what mutants might do with their powers. Even in the real world, people with certain gifts and strengths sometimes use these for evil ends, why would superpowered mutants be any different? They actually spell this out in the first movie: "There's a girl who can walk through walls; what's to stop her from walking into a bank vault, or the White House, or YOUR house?"
      And yes, hashtag notallmutants. Problem is, you can't tell by looking who does or does not have a good moral compass. And in some cases (like Nightcrawler) looks can be deceiving. And of course it doesn't help that you have hatemongers like Stryker or the late Sen Kelley deliberately trying to make mutants look as bad as possible to justify their own hatred, or extremists like Magneto whose extremism doesn't help their cause at all. This is what people are afraid of.
      Ofcourse the "all magic = evil" would also apply to some fundies

    • @ItApproaches
      @ItApproaches 11 дней назад +1

      @ That example from the first movie ignores the context of the individual. Just cause someone CAN walk through the walls of the bank doesn't mean they have an interest in doing so. You can't operate off what if's and fears. That's is illogical and insanity. If you operate that way you're life may as well be ended cause you aren't helping the species. Humans have done more damage then Mutants ever have anyway which shows a hypocrisy.

    • @CryosisOfficial
      @CryosisOfficial 11 дней назад +4

      If you wouldn't fear mutants, you're kind of silly.
      The allegory/message that the X-Men comics tried to push never worked, because some of the mutants are legitimate world-ending threats. People are justly afraid of such unchecked power and a mutant registry with everyone's name, powers, and address, etc. is only a logical thing to implement. "Oh what's that? Someone robbed a bank in Illinois by walking through the walls? Well, let's just check the registry... Oh yep, Katherine Pryde."
      People love to complain about countries (mostly just America for some reason) that let their citizens own firearms for the purpose of self-defense. Well in the case of mutants, it is like if random citizens were in possession of nuclear bombs (in the comics, there is literally a mutant whose sole power is that he could explode). It's a VERY valid concern to have in a world where mutants are real.

    • @lurich24
      @lurich24 11 дней назад

      As others have said, there are mutants with powers with the potential for mass destruction (such as Storm, Magneto, Professor X and Jean Grey). However, it goes far beyond just fearing the powers of mutants. Considering that mutants are the next step in genetic evolution, what humans really fear is being replaced by natural selection and becoming extinct as a species.

    The thing about Magneto's thought process regarding how he goes about everything in his beef against humans is that you have to remember he's a Holocaust survivor. Where SOOOO many people and countries stood by and did nothing while the oppression of the Jewish community and otget minorities that didn't fit into the mold "the perfect race" were bestowed upon the, bit by bit, until they began rounding them up for "work labor", abuse, and straight up genocide. Even then, it took so long for anyone to even really do anything to help. The Registration Act from the first film would have basically been the mutant equivalent of wearing the Star of David to publically identify Jews for ridicule and suffering. Next time you know, muta t probably star getting rounded up, whether legally or not. Whether prejudice human decide to become "vigilantes" and start stringing them up like it was the 1950s US South, or people in positions of power gling out their way to ABUSE their power for their personal vendetta against, again, legally(Senator Kelly) or illegally(William Stryker). Due to Eric's personal experiences, he knows that if nothing is actually done, the humans WILL come for them eventually. They already have...

    If I am not mistaken, when Stan Lee and Jack Kirby started writing X-Men in the 60s, they had in mind the gay community. The way they had to hide themselves and how they were not accepted by others, even by their parents, and they were trying to "cure" them. And they later had more storylines keeping up with that eg a virus which affected only the mutants (allegory for the hiv/aids virus in the 80s). It's amazing what Stan and Jack created. Not only in the mutant world, but in general.

They wrote that Jean sent a sort of mental projection of herself outside of the plane, and lifted the plane away from the water, and the exertion of it all caused her to go blind. But she lived. So they hit me with a big tragic plot twist, and then I saw the movie, and they hit me with a different, even more tragic plot twist, even though I thought I already knew the story.

    I hope that once you get thru the movies you will give the animated X-Men 97 series on Disney+ a go. It really gives you more a feel of what the comic books were about.

    30:19 So, this answers depends on if youre asking prior or after major genocidal events/wars. At one point Scarlet Witch uses her powers to depower thousands of mutants leaving barely 200 mutants left (M-Day). However, At the time of the first xmen movie via comic canon theres roughly 16M mutants.

      Only 16m? The impression I've always gotten from the movies is that it was far more equal than that. I always assumed 1/3-1/2 of people were mutants. But just that the majority of them were such a low class that maybe even they didn't know. Like being a little bit faster or stronger than average, having a higher metabolism or requiring less nutrients. Stuff that seems normal enough to not consider that it's an evolutionary mutation kind of thing.

    Jean Gray has a power called the phenix force and that power is powerful enough to only be rivaled by 5 others in the mcu multiverse. Power level she basically equals the scarlet witch she also can effect the multiverse under her will as well.

    Mutants were always portrayed as extremely rare until the 2000's making you think there were only thousands worldwide. Then in the 2000's they flipped it around and 16 million were living on the island nation of Genosha. Until Cassandra Nova used sentinels to wipe all the ones on the island except a handful. Not all mutants were on the island. That was a 2001 comic. Then in a 2005 comic the Scarlet Witch depowered over 90% of the remaining mutants around a million in one of her fits of crazy. And at one point they were saying only 300 were left. Then in the most recent years most mutants were living on the living island of Krakoa. There were around 250K. The resurrection protocols were being used to bring back dead mutants. But then Orchis destroyed that island and most mutants wound up in "the white hot room". Which is kind of like mutant purgatory that they can come back from. So as far as I can tell it's back down to hundreds or thousands left on Earth. In other words Marvel writers gonna Marvel and it's going to be whatever they want it to be that issue.

    One thing Stryker doesn't seem to realize is even if his plan worked and it killed all mutants on the planet....which I guess that means Charles would end up killing himself? But Even if every mutant was erased....as more births happen, more mutants would pop up lol.

      They know that mutations tend to start activating around puberty. If his son and Xavier survive he'd at least have a way to do a "culling" every 10 years or so. At least until one of them died of old age. But he'd probably study Xavier like he did with his son and figure out a way to be able to do it without Xavier, like with his son's cerebral fluid to control others.

    I personally liked the first movie better but this one has some fantastic scenes for sure.
    As far as continuity goes, there's the original trilogy, the new trilogy (+ Dark Phoenix), the Wolverine trilogy (Origins is the only must watch imo as far as story goes but ppl like Logan too obvs), and the Deadpool trilogy (which is more standalone but references the other stuff). Each trilogy is very loosely related to each other and you can really pick and choose which ones you consider canon lol. But watching all of them in release order guarantees a fun time if nothing else

    Hey Oscar I'm still loving your channel. I saw that you hearted and replied to my comment on the Squid Games season 1 video that you uploaded. Totally made my day. That was AWESOME! Thanks so much for that Oscar. That really meant a lot to me. I was hoping you were going to see my comment and you did! Super cool Oscar. But yeah I still would love it if you reacted to the Disney movie Saving Mr Banks. Starring Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson. I really love that movie and I think you will to. BTW I really LOVE the way you always say far out. I remember watching the Cinderella 2015 live action reaction video you did and you said far out quite a few times and I love that. I never really hear anyone say that around here where I am from. Is that something that only Australian people say? Let me know. Well I wish you many years of success on your super entertaining channel. Congratulations on being super close to 100,000 subscribers mate. One day you'll get to a million subscribers Oscar. Wow won't that be super cool. You will. Its just a matter of time. I hope you have a place to put that silver play button. You'll be getting that soon. You get that once you hit 100,000 subscribers dont you? I think you do. Well, I'm wishing you all the best and like I said before your smile is super cute and adorable. I seriously have never seen a guy with a smile as nice as yours is Oscar. Everytime you smile, Im like damn he has an amazingly cute smile. I've always thought about that when watching those scenes. Figured it was like a stasis that halted all biological processes in a preservation state. But it doesn't really make sense to me (as a movie watcher only) why a mental mutant would be able to control the bodily functions of others in such a way. But I also always wonder how far it spreads and to what extent. Do their watches also pause? Do people realize it? Like if someone is on the phone when they freeze is the person on the other end frozen, too? Does it affect the whole world? Is it actually stopping time or just freezing their body? I'm thinking about people who were walking and freeze upright instead of falling over.
      Which also brings me to the ending. With everyone in the world having experienced Xavier's attack, we don't hear anything about how the world was affected. Just think about all the people piloting planes, driving cars, etc. who would end up dead from being even temporarily incapacitated like that. The whole world would be freaking out about it. I guess maybe that's what the president's address was going to be about at the end of the movie?
