Jim Carrey said on Inside The Actor’s Studio that after he made Ace Ventura he met Anthony Hopkins, and was surprised to find out they both used the same acting technique for Ace Ventura and Hannibal Lecter respectively.
Hopkins thought of crocodiles and spiders when he played as Hannibal because Lecter is an ambush predator. Whereas Carrey thought of Ace as a very smart and hyperactive bird, hence all the large and quick body movements, especially the bobbing head movements.

About Dan Marino, He is considered one of the best quarterbacks and NFL players of all time and many say the best player to never win a Superbowl and only made it to one in 1984. Most fans and NFL analysts agree the main reason was he just wasn't given a good enough team most of his career to win. Marino himself though had a incredible career and vast majority of people agree that if he had been on better teams in the 80's like the Steelers, 49er's, Raiders or Giants he likely would have won multiple superbowls.

@alexp601 everything about the reveal of Einhorn. It is one of the most transphobic scenes in movie history and as someone who was a teenager at the time this movie came out it definitely encouraged a lot of disgusting transphobic discourse. It was actually one of a few times most kids I knew were ever exposed to anything close to someone being transgender and we were shown it was beyond disgusting. I was kind of disappointed they downplayed it so much.

Filmmakers first approached Rick Moranis to play Ace Ventura, but Moranis declined the role. They then considered casting Judd Nelson or Alan Rickman, and they also considered changing Ace Ventura to be female and casting Whoopi Goldberg as the pet detective. David Alan Grier also turned down the offer to play Ace. Ultimately they noticed Jim Carrey's performance in the sketch comedy show In Living Color and cast him as Ace Ventura.

The Finkle=Einhorn twist was a spoof of the movie _The Crying Game_ which came out a year prior, about a man who falls in love with a transvestite (the Boy George song is the theme from that movie). Also, Einhorn is German for unicorn, so the name fits.

Fun fact, there really wasnt much of a script in these movies, jim carrey was like let me do it, and he made up most of the lines on the spot just followed the plot somewhat. Even the ass bits where his own gags he added

The difference between comedy like Reynolds and Carrey is the physical side. Reynolds does some physical comedy, but his true comedic talent is his line delivery. Carrey is not just the line delivery, but the physicality involved during his lines. I can only think of a few actors who pull off that amount of energetic physical comedy. Chris Farley would be one of those. Those are the kinds of comedic actors we are missing today.

I have always seen Dan Marino the same way as Payton Manning (at the beginning of his career I mean). Both had superpowerful throws and put up huge stats and neither had won a SuperBowl, until Payton won one. People used to say that Payton might be like Marino, a stats king without a Super Bowl. But then Payton won a couple, and that went away.

Oh man, I’m stoked to see you all react to Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls! It’s is way more fun than the first movie to me, but I totally get that’s a super personal take. Plenty of people might think I’m nuts and prefer the original. Jim Carrey seems even more unhinged, if that’s even possible, and I know comedy is subjective as hell. Some folks might watch this and just roll their eyes. That’s the beauty of comedy, what kills me might put someone else to sleep. I’m just here fully acknowledging not everyone’s gonna be on this train with me!

I think my favorite nod to this movie changing pop culture and public lexicon happened in Bruce Almighty-
When Jim Carrey first meets Morgan Freeman and he helps mop the floors, after they finish, Morgan says "All righty then."
If you were a kid born in the 80's (like me) and were in middle school when this came out, it was everything. Timeless.

Yes, that is Randall "Tex" Cobb. The same guy that was in Raising Arizona. He is a former Heavyweight boxer. He was still boxing when he got into acting. I remember him popping up in a few memorable roles in TV shows/movies in the 80's to mid 90's. He also fought some legends Ken Norton Jr., Leon Spinx, Ernie Shavers, Larry Holmes
