Hi George! I was watching your vid on the biggest GW in US & it reminded me of the Super GW that my mom & i used to go to in Clarksville, TN near Ft. Campbell. We used to go to it in late 90s & early 2000s. It was an older store, which is now closed, but was huge & on the last Saturday of each month, EVERYthing was 1/2 priced! My mom & I loved it! They now have a newer smaller one i wasn't impressed with. You were talking about some GWs & thrift stores that put most of their vintage items in one spot together which reminded me of a wonderful thrift store in Hopkinsville, KY called Grace and Mercy Thrift store. It's quite large and they have a room designated to vintage and antique. It's good to look the store over, however, because as you say, some people working there don't know vintage. It's worth take a look see if you're in the area.
As a newer reseller, I learned immediately from this video to provide buy it now as an option for certain auctions. Just yesterday a bidder retracted their bid on a Thanksgiving item I have listed, and the auction ends today I believe. With Thanksgiving tomorrow, timeliness could have been their concern & I see how this could have been avoided since they first bid last week. Thanks George! 😊
Speaking of post offices , Canada Post is on strike . Their two favourite times to strike are around Christmas and income tax time . But this time around people are saying “ only thing we notice is no junk mail in our boxes”. I think they are becoming extinct . I don’t know if you have these 2 services down in the US, but ShipStallion and Chitchat are way cheaper than anyone else here . Happy Thanksgiving George Neat items .
I think there's a place for everything, Marketplace (especially local) seems good for furniture and large items that aren't easily shipped. Craigslist seems to be a lot of bargain hunters on the buyer side and a lot of people wanting full retail on the sell side, at least where the antique category is concerned...I use it effectively when I want to liquidate an estate. eBay seems best for unusual items and things that are higher value where the shipping isn't so much a part of the equation.
The fish is not Italian, but actually made in China and sold at HomeGoods, etc. They usually have a sticker on them marked Home Essentials, made in China. I have had quite a few of these over the years.
I've seen them for over 30 years as well, always have been told they were Italian and have had them prior to the time that Home Essentials and Home Goods were in business. I'll have to look into this more, not great news though
I had a piece going to Texas from NC. It went to Kansas, got lost traveling from Kansas for a month. Finally I refunded the buyer. The next day it arrived. Luckily she repaid me.
No one likes Ike anymore, I guess. He was responsible for killing thousands of German POWs after WWII by keeping them in inhumane conditions and restricting their caloric intake to starvation levels. Not to mention he pretty much started the Military Industrial Complex that he had the audacity to warn about in his farewell speech. But you'll only learn that information from historical revision authors. Hopefully one day it will be common knowledge.
There are certainly arguments against some of his actions, and you are not wrong about his involvement with the creation of the military-industrial complex...but I give him some credit for realizing the beast that was coming to be and having the audacity to say it out loud, people, even if it was late in the game. Certainly everyone else involved with politics in both parties at the time was happy to ignore it and reap the benefits of massive campaign funding that still plague our elections, so I guess not many people were listening.
Beautiful things, you only speak with love and respect for your mom, she must have been a wonderful person, ty
Thank you! She was indeed a wonderful person and I’m glad that came across.
@TheAntiqueNomad 🥰yes she was an awesome mother, I can tell by such a great son

That's a shame about the Fenton lamp. Hope things work out, it certainly is beautiful!
I’m in GA. I have had to wait a while because it gets caught up at the distribution center here.
Yes, it's super frustrating
your knowledge is extraordinary!
what are your thoughts on selling items on fb marketplace or CL, vs. ebay?

It's crazy how sometimes packages just go on adventures of their own!
@ If that package could just talk!
Yay!!!👏😍
George that's why you let me know the price on shipping on my lamps wow that's a lot of money 😮 I'm hoping your customer gets the lamp asap
Me too!
✨❤️🧡💛💚💙💜✨
Maybe ship UPS or FedEx and avoid USPS.
For that location, absolutely!
Don’t you have to take some kind of civil service test to work at the post office?? GA=Guam?? 😅
I think the bar reader did it
Your videos are always so informative @theantiquenomad!
Thank you! I’m glad you’re finding them helpful.
What is the hottest one ? TBD
I'd say the Star Wars, at least it went for the most

@TheAntiqueNomad Yeah the Black Ops are really a train out of control- sadly for decades
