Heartbreaking song. I loved Robin Gibb's voice and I hate that he died so young. His voice was one of a kind. I just don't think he really ever got all the appreciation of his voice that he should have. That is why i always try and share every good song by him to other people.
At first, I was hesitant to look at this reaction. I've only heard the song once before, found it so extremely sad and resolved never to listen to it again. But knowing that you are making this reaction and the feeling of listening to it together with the 3L Family who I now know about 3 years ( don’t know exactly when I started watching) comforted me and I dared to click on the video. It was worth it. I believe that people who are close to the end of life tend to think about the past and reflect on their lives. Days before my mother died, she told me a lot about earlier times and told me about events and her feelings that I never knew anything about before. Three days later, she left for good. I think Robin knew very well that his life would soon be over and was in this phase of remembering and reflecting. He did it the way he could do best - via a song . Rest in Peace, Robin. Thank you Chad. You’re amazing.

Yes, true, that he wanted to finish this recording (this is still kind of the "demo" form) with Barry, after he finished his titanic requiem (it was really important for him to finish the requiem in time for the 100th anniversary of the titanic sinking) but by that time, he was too sick. He couldn't even attend the performance of the requiem. he died a few weeks later. He and Barry never recorded together again.
I finally listened to this song few time ago, it's very poignant and sad in all extension of the word. The line 'The battle's won now... The price was high' could apply to many situations in life where we fight tirelessly for something and when we finally get it, sometimes with several sacrifices along the way, we ask ourselves if it was really worth it, and I think that is what Robin meant, they actually reached the top, but at what cost? I can understand the feeling of missing the simpler and wonderful times when we are young, I've reflected on it since my parents, and a number of other relatives have passed away.
I bought the cd " 50 St Catherine's drive" when it was released 2014.... it took me quite a few years til I could bring myself to listen to it... just knowing I would break down in tears 😢.... God bless you R.I.P. Robin ( also Maurice and Andy)

I live in Melbourne Australia and I remember and enjoyed watching those 3 gauky boys on TV in 1960s In 1972 I returned from serving in Vietnam and it was the Bee Gees songs which kept me going. I took my future wife to the Bee Gees concert at Festival Hall in 1973 when Robin was distracted by a person trying to get on the stage. What a concert Then in 2010 we saw Robin's Concert in Melbourne and he clearly was not well but still brilliant. I suppose that was one of his last concerts before he died. Devastating. Chad, I really appreciate the sincerity and respect you show towards this wonderful group. Lots of old Hit Parade listings have been coming up on facebook. You look at some of those old hits snd they are jist a memory. Not the Bee Gees I did a trip to the US and had the pleasure of meeting a Bee Gees sound engineer on a ferry in 2016. Dwina and RJ said they found this song on a computer tablet by his bed after he died. He used a "garage band" app to record it. RJ took it to the studio and layered Robin's voice and added his own in the weakest spots. 😢

I missed out on so many of their songs but you enlightened me with a lot of their songs that I have never heard and are truly my favorite now. I seem to remember that when they moved down from Brisbane to live in Sydney they signed a contract with their father Hugh at the St Clair studios in Hurstville Sydney after which they were picked up by other Australian labels there is a famous photo of them in a Convertible outside a Sydney record studio. I was caught unawares when I first listened to this song a few years ago and this is the first time I have heard it since. So moving and emotional that I listen with my eyes closed remembering Robin throughout the decades. I seem to remember that when they moved down from Brisbane to live in Sydney they signed a contract with their father Hugh at the St Clair studios in Hurstville Sydney after which they were picked up by other Australian labels there is a famous photo of them in a Convertible outside a Sydney record studio. Did you all see young Andy in the clip .
