- The Audi Q5 is a compact luxury SUV that does pretty much everything well. That’s a fine, abbreviated overview but for a more thorough understanding of the Q5 Kelley Blue Book’s Micah Muzio took to the streets. Along the way he learned how the Audi Q5’s interior, ride quality, infotainment, and turbocharged, all-wheel drive powertrain deal with the urban jungle.

Owned a 2018 q5 for ten months until the company decided to buy it back from me due to problems with A/C. When it ran, it was the best car I ever owned. Smoothest ride with very responsive engine and transmission. It was fun to drive with the paddle shifters that responded in the blink of an eye. Even my wife misses this car who does not care much about cars. I now have a boring MDX which I mainly bought for its reliability and safety. If you get a q5 that does not run into reliability issues, you will like it a lot and will not want to drive anything else in this class. I also test drove an X3 which was nice and fun but no Android auto which was a deal breaker with possibly even more reliability issues than q5, based on online complaints. I wish hey made Audis more reliable and cheaper to maintain.
Enjoying that MDX transmission that likes to downshift 2 gears when accelerating? Or maybe you have joined the class action lawsuit....Acura can’t build a car anyone buys anymore.
As much as I love a great set of analog gauges, I think Audi's digital instrument cluster is amazing and one of the coolest car features to come out in many years.
I test drove it and it was excellent. Pricey. Very refined and quiet.

I miss the dynamic duo of Micah and Zach. So much funny. I will just have to rewatch old episodes and reminisce. (But don't worry Micah, you always were the main man... you were the Batman).
Yes it does look conservative, but that doesn't mean it looks bad...I personally really like Audi's Q models, they may not be the most exciting ones but they have been stable in the SUV world for a long time and their interior quality is amazing

Are those blanks for the fog lights on this tester or just dark-looking fog lights?
Did they fix the oil burning that the previous gens have? Friend has a 2016 and sold it it burned through almost all its oil in a month which is kinda crazy
Micah is the 100% of the power to the rear only when there is zero traction in the front (meaning never) as oppose to acceleration to feel sporty like the F Pace?

One advantage of the dial and touchpad... is the display screen doesn’t get finger marks all over it.

i saw one this sunday and it was looking cool as hell
I guess everything come down to personal preference, I like quiet luxury car with comfortable ride, Audi offered it. The cabin is just so quiet and no feeling of bumping road. I also test drived BMW X3 and Volvo XC60, none of them come close to the quiet cabin or drive comfort as the Audi. They are great car but designed for better driver engagement with the road. (louder engine, tough handling i guess)

Is there a sport mode?
I have the A4, the lack of touchscreen took me awhile to get used to. Not having it on Apple car play is infuriating to the point I don’t use Apple CarPlay. Also, there is no easy way to toggle between the Apple interface and the Audi MMI. In my opinion, the MMI handled music and phone settings much better. Be warned that using MMI you cannot hold and return phone calls during call waiting. Also, the interior materials while nice are not nice all over, parts that matter are the hard surfaces that your legs bump into.

Why so much hate for them? They can double as an emergency power source in major outtage. This coming from a guy who has a 300HP+ hot hatch that rides like a race car and pollutes like one, too.

i never understood suvs w/ "convenient" rear release levers for the back seats to go down.... but they still have to go to the back seat to either adjust the head rest or remove it.. actually creates two steps. i rather just do it all at the back seats then.

The 2.0t model does have a very noticeable lag when you put your foot down and it happens in pretty much any gear during running acceleration
Tune fixes that easy
Put it on dynamic mode
Have this q5 pp it’s a riot to drive definitely feels like a car only complaint floor it from any mode nothing happens (lag) then it’s goes also putting it in neutral from drive for going into car washes can be a little compromising!

My Q5 is the same color and has the ventilated sport seats that are hard, and very uncomfortable. Also if you had taken a drive in dry weather you would have discovered a noisy and stiff ride. Have just over 3,000 miles on it and the best thing about it is the wonderful B&O sound system. Problem is you cant hear it over the tire roar from the Continental tires.

AWD was not a must so I looked at BMW X3. X3 was quoted about $150 less per month on a lease. Plus free maintenance. Had it been same price, Q5.

why is my 2022 q5 looks exactly same as this. only noticeable difference I see is 2018 has mouse pad with no touch screen and 2022 has touch screen with no mouse pad. :(

Best in class and almost the perfect SUV no doubt of that, however, I would choose the XC60 just because of the looks, Audi models always looks a lot better live but not the Q5.

Yes it does.
Best all around vehicle on the market. One note on touch screens is you are in a more compromising position when reaching out as opposed to using the rotary wheel. In addition you have the option of simply pushing the voice control button on the right side of the steering wheel where you can summon siri and simply say “ play Kelley blue books podcast”

I can understand the reasoning why audi didnt make the screen a touchscreen.. it's position requires drivers to lean in a bit and focus too much on it. So a safety issue.. So while they can cite this, it's also due to saving a boatload of cash.

Love the Q5, but man... I really scare of the high priced ownership cost when it comes to maintenance or a repair on German car. It looks like the dealership expect to get rich when you pull your German car into the bay for maintenance.

Actually they're doing it for safety reasons. Touch screen is the most distracting thing in the car.
Controls are easier touch means you have to reach out. If you use it you’ll realize what’s better. Besides Mercedes and bmw been doing it for a while. But the new MMI system is so easy to use

I prefer the interior and exterior of the new X3. Far more stylish! Audi design language is kind of boring compared to BMW.
Eeeeeeeeerrrr WHAT??!!!!! U got to be kidding! BMW is very conservative in its styling esp the interior ... Between the 3 german's Audi is the best, Mercedes came secondly close while BMW is third.
I agree that BMW has a very conservative design language, but why would you mess with something that's already great? Mercedes design is definitely better than both BMW and Audi. But it all comes to personal opinion.

I have an Audi Q5. ('16) It's OK but the service and Audi customer care is horrific. I will never purchase an Audi again. (The newer model Q5 interiors are a major step down. And the Audi electronic interfaces are abysmal.)

Dashboard materials are cheap plastic with poor design in shapes and layers. Standard seats have poor material, uncomfortable shape and feels very hard and lack of support while turning.
xc90/xc60 would be better
