    I’ve had the 2018 SQ5 for almost a year now and “love” it. I was able to drive a Q5 after having this vehicle for a month and WOW, the SQ5 is worth every penny!!

      In what sense? So a 1.1 second different in their test doesn't seem much, but perhaps a real world test would be when passing cars. I had a lead foot and pass cars frequently, would you say the SQ5 would make that worthwhile for that?

    Nice review guys. I have the 2018 Premium Plus SQ5 in Moonlight Blue Metallic. I ordered the car in early April 2017! I was promised delivery in June-ish. After waiting and waiting, I was told sometime mid July, then after waiting some more, and seeing several on the road already and at other dealers, I was told now it would be August some time.
    Cut a long story short, I found another SQ5 at another dealer. I called my dealer and cancelled the car. I mean early June to sometime in August was a stretch! Next day the manager called and I told him I had already committed to the other dealer and they had the car in stock.
    That's when he offered me this deal - $1,500 below invoice! For a 2018 car in 2017. The final sticker price with options came to $62,205.00. Ended up paying $56,944.00! a smokin deal! $5,261 off of the window sticker, needless to say I am a happy camper.

      I wouldn't say its a deal breaker but when the world is use to touchscreens now adays its amazing Audi is just now starting to offer it on newer models. I don't see why both options aren't available. Leave the dial but also make it touchscreen. Hell my Info System I bought in 2004 has a remote to navigate the screens and is touchscreen. 2004!!! lol

      Touchscreens are on the way out for luxury vehicles and in general most upcoming cars. It for people who own a smartphone and just how many people in the luxury car market even has seem a smartphone or iPad! Most owners still have landlines and a flip or candy bar phone still. All buyers know how to use a track pad on a laptop and so they are heading in that direct from the rotary knob interface. It only takes a month to learn too. To learn a touchscreen which takes around 2-3 years of full time classroom classes and these buyers just loss interest in doing that. Love the large 7” infotainment screen. It is huge now a days. This coming from a S400; with a 3” screen. It is in color too! Wow! Top of the line Prestige and Premium Plus get the oversized 8” screen. Outrageous!

    I own a 2018 SQ5 and often achieve 30+ UK MPG, for example I recently completed a round trip of 300 miles of 80% motorway driving with drive mode set to auto achieving an average of 32 MPG for an average speed of 65 to 70MPH. I previously owned the Diesel Biturbo SQ5 and find the redesigned SQ5 much nicer though the old model sounds nicer. The 21in wheels do increase road noise making the SQ5 noisier but that's to be expected of a sportier vehicle with larger wheels and wider tyres. One think that really annoys me is that Audi redesign the Q5 but the rear camera clarity is still affected by rain and muck from the road especially in the lovely winter weather we have here in the UK, resulting in the need to frequently get out of the car to clean the camera lens before reversing. My Merc GLC came with a rear camera that sits out of view behind the Merc badge until required when the badge flips up and the camera is exposed after the lens is cleaned so the camera clarity is always perfect, why can't Audi consider something like this, it's obvious yet they missed it.

    Good overview. I have 2 Audis now: an S3 and a Q3. Planning to replace both cars next year with an SQ5 (I'm retiring - don't need 2 cars). Obviously, I've had a lot of experience with Audi's MMI system, and I like it. I've also looked at cars with touch screen systems (Jaguar, etc). Under NO circumstances would I want a touch screen. It takes your eyes off the road, which is bloody dangerous. Audi's MMI is much safer, and you don't have to do dumb things like dive down 2 menu levels into a touch screen system just to turn on your seat heaters. When you have a car that goes like stink (my S3, or any other model starting with an 'S'), you need to stay focused. 'Nuff said.

    “And it always has all wheel drive”-I might be wrong here but for this Q5 and the new A4 they switched to Quattro ultra, which improves fuel economy by allowing the q5 to act as a front wheel drive car most of the time?

    i own a 2017 Q5. i test drive a 2018 SQ5 with air suspension. The air suspension makes a huge difference in the ride quality. I wish TFL would have notice the difference. The air suspension is an option also available in the Q5. Make sure you order an air suspension model. Finally, the 0-60 test does not show how much more Humpf the SQ5 provides compare to a 2 liters Q5. In fact you the performance of a Porsche Macan S in Audi SQ5. I said enough... The SQ5 is an mpressive SUV with the air suspension.

    Glad Audi is doing good in the US. It is a different car than the European one though ... we like diesels and manual shifters, that is how we roll.
    But finally Audi has an SUV and Americans love SUVs (makes more sense, more space, more cargo space, easier to get in/out, better visibility, most other cars are trucks and SUVs and there is PLENTY of space both on the road, wider roads, more lanes ... as well as ample parking everywhere, it tows better etc). You are still getting the really nice interior, the best awd system and just the Audi feeling even in these SUVs. The Q5 are also getting more popular in Europe as well although we have a lot less space for cars.

    Reviews are generally judged either good or bad depending upon whether or not you got the information you were searching for. As for engine comparison, quite literally there is a power factor difference and obviously the V6 delivers the G force. However, the subtlety is in the shift characteristics and other attributes. That is, the 7 speed S-tronic (2.0 TFSI) delivers the manual trans feel that many of us desire, plus if you run it in Dynamic mode it is rear drive proprietary. Honestly, buying a vehicle for one spec is perhaps not the best plan. So if you like the semi-abrupt shift of the 2.0 with the Getrag 7-speed S-tronic, go for it. Though if you prefer the continuous G force of the V6 with the ZF8HP, then go for that. Realistically, whether one tops out at 170 versus 155 is just ridiculous since most drivers cannot handle such speed. So buying a car based upon a particular spec or two may give you talking point. But is that what you are looking for ...? Please, buy a vehicle that you love to drive...... PERIOD! And yes, I have a 2019 with the 2.0 and S-tronic because I love how that drives! Black Optic package provides 20 R255/45. Wonderful stuff!
    Cheers,
    John

      Darren Exactly! Keyless/Passive entry to the best of my knowledge is very secured. I just don't see Piotr Sulej's point. To even steal a car with keyless start, you'll need computers and shit to get it started, a more laborious process.

    • @NONARCS
      @NONARCS 5 лет назад +1

      After test driving yes I agree. The 2.0 gets the job done but you have to cane it if you have multiple people on board or gear. The v6 is almost too much torque for the chassis and lives with touch in throttle. What they need is another 40 hp out of the 2.0 from 3 to 5 k and then they will have the best SUV. While the looks are not what they should be, the q5 is a joy to drive and sit in. It really is a step above the X3 and GLC..and they are both also terrific.

Our winters are unpredictable filled with snow and ice at times. The dealer said that I should not even look at the s series only the Q5 due to the loss of performance not having low profile tires. @deagaric4765 6 лет назад

      Darren passive entry and keyless entry are synonymous when it comes to options. Both imply that you can open the door without needing to take out the key, aka "keyless".

    • @poppaschlong2000
      @poppaschlong2000 6 лет назад

      Dea Garic passive entry is proximity sensors within the door, keyless requires you to press the unlock button on the fob.

    • @deagaric4765
      @deagaric4765 6 лет назад +1

      Darren Mercedes Benz and Audi use the terms interchangeably, I even checked it online. I see your point though, guess it depends brand by brand. Personally, I feel like it's not keyless if I have to pull the key out of my bag everytime I reach the car.

    • @deagaric4765
      @deagaric4765 6 лет назад

      Darren now I think about it, I cant think of a car review in the last 5 years that has ever used keyless entry to mean anything besides proximity sensors. They are standard on 20k cars, seems silly of Audi to not make it standard on a 42k car.

    I enjoyed the review but I'm not completely happy with direction Audio is taking with the Q5. As a car enthusiast, I tend to look for more power. Saying that it's hard to consider the SQ5 in the S-Line let alone a "performance" version of the Q5 when Audi can't splurge on exhaust tips for the car. It's not even an option??? The last SQ5 I saw with an exhaust looked much more aggressive especially when you pulled up to it. I'm spending dam near 58000+ on an upgraded Q5 i should get a more impressive appearance and options front to back. BTW I have a 2010 Audio Q5 Prestige that I love! Not the perfect car, but I love to drive it non the less.

    • @poppaschlong2000
      @poppaschlong2000 6 лет назад +5

      kwedog2373 that's a deal breaker for you? Exhaust tips? You know Audi S cars have always been about subdued looks. Owners like the under the radar looks. My 2013 S6 looks just like any other A6 short of the silver mirror caps.

    Junk audis ive got less into my bentley and its never failed to start or drive where i want to go ! My q5 goes a month or 2 then some other catastrophic failure occurs ! Audi had to bribe a bunch of government officials and politicians in order to get this junk imported ! My buddy who sells cars says want a good reliable car get an audi yeah sure ive spent almost as much in repairs as i paid for the car ! Constantly breaking down i changed the oil 7 times so far in the bentley and it doesnt let me down ! Ive had a lit of cars in my life the q5 is at the bottom !

    Audi does not have a touchscreen- joystick interface. This is a luxury car. Why do I have to have as options heated seats, real leather, side airbags, pay for any color but black, HID/LED, keyless entry, navigation, etc...
    Typical example of Audi baiting a reasonable MSRP with ridiculous options that ridiculously jack up the price. For your money, you can do much, much, better. Acura, Lincoln, Volvo.
    Do yourself a favor and cross shop.

Lexus came out with the single frame grille long after Audi led the way. Acura and Honda have been design nightmares until recently.
