    The reason why Jeff Gordon was added as the 13th seed in the 2013 Chase was because of Team Penske striking a deal with Front Row Motorsports in order to help Logano make the chase during the 2013 Federated Auto Parts 400

    • @WastdTrashPanda
      @WastdTrashPanda 2 года назад +19

      The best way to fix that situation is to just not have a chase and instead have a full season points battle like rational people 💁‍♂

    • @RacingWorldTV202
      @RacingWorldTV202 2 года назад +5

      NASCAR could've done better with that. They needed to either remove all of MWR from the Playoffs and add Newman & Gordon in, or remove Logano once the revelations of the Penske deal came out and add Gordon in. Gordon getting added as the 13th driver, while Penske got off scot-free and MWR got leveled, was gimmicky and the wrong move.

    • @danielwest9955
      @danielwest9955 2 года назад +5

      @@RacingWorldTV202 The funny part is they fixed it with the playoff system.
      All the guys cutting deals would’ve already been locked in with wins. Bowyer would’ve been the only guy who wasn’t in the playoffs if the ‘14 system had been in place.

    • @RacingWorldTV202
      @RacingWorldTV202 2 года назад +4

      @@danielwest9955 And that is the one thing I think is good about the new format. It's pretty airtight from a lot of issues and you can tell NASCAR thought things through very well when they made it 16 drivers, because that's where the gap between drivers tends to really widen. Now with Daytona as the regular season finale, you got that extreme wildcard element that makes the regular season part of the format perfect.

    • @danielwest9955
      @danielwest9955 2 года назад +1

      @@RacingWorldTV202 Yep. Once the idea of "Wild Cards" and race-winners being qualified came into play, the fairest way to do it was to just make sure winners were pretty much locked in.

But this season kinda started my falling out with nascar until the 2021 season. I still followed it and looked up who won every week, but thats the thing. I only looked it up. This is a nice assessment of 2013. I thought the racing in 2013 wasn't that great but the stories were interesting. The Homestead, Richmond II, Auto Club, Talladega II, Loudon I, Martinsville, Texas I, and Atlanta races were particularly good. The big spoiler they ran was counter-intuitive to close racing, but the racing felt like a breathe of fresh air, even in races like Las Vegas and Kansas I where, in retrospect, the racing wasn't amazing.
    7/10 season. Much better than 2015; better than 2019; not quite as good as 2014, '16, the second half of '18, & '20-21 but on par with 2017, which was another really solid season.
    The '11-13 format was a lot better than the '14-16 format which was utter garbage.

The cars suck, the racing was boring, and the entire field has become full of rookies, rich kids, and no name ringers that nobody has ever heard of. Plus the points system got set up to where you could just skip half the season, come back and win a few races, and then the championship. And someone actually did that. The sport hasnt been the same since this car, and the cars after it.

    Can somebody tell me why Gen 6 is hated?

    I was always a bit suspect of Danica winning the pole at Daytona. Look at the list of pole winners through the years. I’m not a conspiracy guy but it sure looks like NASCAR wants particular news worthy drivers to build up hype

      So everyone slowed their cars just marginally so she could win the pole? Ummm. No

      @@KellieLeigh48 that certainly wouldn’t have been the case. But the nascar installed restrictor plate gave her a little more air to breathe.

    Them adding Jeff Gordon as the 13th driver in a 12 man Chase along with MTJ and MWR getting made examples of whilst Penske walked away with little more than a slap on the wrist caused me to stop watching NASCAR for over a year and stop attending races for 4 years.

    The fact that you mention that Jeff Gordon was in the chase that year for tv reasons to me is absolute bullshit. He was going to be in before spingate took place and the fact that it happened affected the outcome. To me he deserved to be in. Sure it would’ve been better for TV ratings but I watched that race. You can say whatever you want about his appearance in the chase but I smell pure hatred about it. He was a total victim of the situation, and I will support NASCARs decision on letting him in because to me he got cheated out

    Great video. And you know one thing that NASCAR won't be able to do with this new car like they did last time that whole stupidity of finding Denny Hamlin when he didn't deserve it in any kind of way they ain't going to be able to do that this time if a driver talks crap about the car they're not going to be able to say oh here's a $50,000 fine not in today's cancel culture.

    I actually don't hate the Gen 6 car. It wasn't the car that was the problem, it was the packages.

    Hamlin wrecked himself. He turned hard left to try and turn Joey nose into the outside wall after the initial contact.
    I didn't feel sorry for him then and I still don't now. Don't like to see drivers hurt, but it was his own fault.

    These videos are too fucking long. They could be half the length and still do their job.
