One thing I really appreciate Karen is that you always provide alternative colours. This is so helpful. It’s time I learnt to ‘see’ colours for myself but in the meantime and until I do - if ever - I do so value your guidance.
I enjoy your tutorials. The sketchbook is so neat, also! I love all flowers, but tulips, roses, daisies, sunflowers, and hydrangeas are some. I'd love to learn to paint.
I love your magic that you create, the looseness of your touch if that is a word… I love painting tulips. Love the concertina book. Thank you so very much for all your wonderful videos.
Karen, your demonstration is so very informative. I love your “ease” at watercolor and hope to achieve that someday. Of course I miss the tulips, daffodils, etc of my home town but now living in the desert of the SW I’d love to see a painting of some desert flowers/plants such as agaves, brittle bush, Mexican poppies, etc. Thanks for your encouragement!
We are back into flowers!!!! Yeah!!! Gorgeous tulips! How about more spring flowers like irises and daffodils.. Then pansies, peonies, chrysanthemums, lotus flower, lilies, oh and so many more!!!
I’ve valued your teaching a long time and adore your style. Although it’s not a spring flower, I’d love to see you finish the series with a dahlia. They’re beautiful late garden gems.
Another beautiful demonstration, Karen! Love the idea of a concertina sketchbook too. Lupines, foxgloves, columbines, freesia, sea holly, Himulayan blue poppies, Bird of Paradise...ah, so many beauties!
Thanks for the friendly tutorial! I was looking for an easy tulip tutorial with the reference image included (for free) and that was rather difficult to find! I haven't picked up my watercolours in two years and even before that I was struggling to use them. I picked up enough pointers to produce a decent card for mum for Women's Day for now, and I'll be sure to watch more of your videos next.
I used one of these concertina sketchbooks during lockdown for bird paintings. I think it has kept me sane! I like the idea of a flower challenge too. Thank you Karen a lovely demo as always
That's a great idea! Thank you for sharing! I would love to do something like that as well. I can totally understand how it kept you sane. Hope you get a chance to paint some flowers!
I loved doing the tulips And I like how you explain what you are doing. I am two months into my first watercolor class at our local art studio and I am having so much fun!
After having painted everyday for more than a year, I often miss the strange blooms and other effects that happened on my beginner paper or as a result of my inexperience. So this really does look so much fun!
Thank you Karen, this is really lovely. I love all the colour variations. I would love to see a tutorial on wild roses - dog rose - rosa canina. They're my favourite flower.
Thank you! I’m so pleased you enjoyed this tutorial. For more exclusive and in-depth tutorials why not think about joining my Patreon membership. www.patreon.com/karenriceart
Lovely painting of the tulips Karen and a great idea to put all the flowers into a concertina sketchbook. They are actually quite easy to actually make, on Liz Chaderton's channel she has done a few videos on how to make various types of sketchbooks including concertina ones. One of my favourite flowers is the Iris, would love to see you paint that.
Lovely tutorial! Did want to mention that Jackson’s says the paper in this sketchbook is smooth hot-pressed rather than cold-pressed. A waterline,y would be great to see a tutorial on! Thanks so much!!!
hi Karen .. I have recently discovered your channel but I love your videos and your joy flowing through there… You started this flower series but one of my favorite flowers so when you asked for flower suggestions I immediately thought of my other favorite flower which is orchid… all good for you
Thanks Karen I love all your videos as you break everything down and explain your steps so that I can attempt to paint along. I would like to suggest a spider lily painting. I have tried to do it myself but without too much success.
You can paint one or two flowers in a month. Snowdrops, daffodils, bluebells, cherry blossoms, roses, wild flowers...flowers and landscapes are my favourite subjects
It's so good to see your beautiful Spring Tulips.....Spring is a long ways away where I live and your bright and colourful tulips give me a glimpse of flowers to come. I'm looking forward to paint these tulips.... Tku for this tutorial Karen.🌷
Hi Karen, coming from a Dutch descent girl, the tulips are lovely! Definitely going to have a go. Suggestion: How about some pansies. Keep going with your concertina book. Great idea. 👍Francie from NZ
Hello. This is the first time I have come across your channel! This challenge intrigues me. I have an etcher accordion sketchbook that I now know what it will be filled with. Minnesota’s state flower is the lovely pink lady slipper. How about a state flower challenge?
Could you possibly paint an Oxalis Triangularis. They are beautiful deep purple or maroon colored flowers with very delicate light purple tiny flowers on long thin stems. I adore this plant. So, so pretty. It is a perennial and can be grown inside as well as outside . Thanks for asking, Debbie. (I just Adore your channel)!
Lovely tutorial. Thank you so much. I checked on the sketchbook and not sure I want to lay out $28 for printer paper. Did you have any warping issues? I'll definitely use the concertina style but maybe attaching watercolor paper? Lily of the valley would be one I'd love to see you paint - anywhere♥
Great idea, it would be better in a way to use watercolour paper. A watercolour sketchbook would also be ok. Thank you for your suggestion! Love Lily of the Valley 😊
