I want to use ATEM Mini to record educational lectures using the picture in picture feature & chroma key features. The lecture duration is usually 2 hrs to 2&1/2 hrs. Will this be suitable. Can you suggest what will be the out video file size of the above. You can visit my channel to see the type of video lectures we produce. We currently use premium pro for making these. Thank :)
i have watch many and this is the only one that shows this technique slowly and every switch setting... thanks heaps
Thanks! it's a tricky thing to demo. The real key [pun intended] is to realise that the background is the main video stream, and the foreground subject with the chroma background is the fill source on top of that.

Hi Tim, I was just wondering if you can use a video in the background of your Dinosaur instead of a pic like Jpeg. Can you have a video input on your Atem used as a video background if that makes sense.
Yes you can use any source for the background. If you have pre-recorded video, then you will need a player for it like a hyperdeck or plug an HDMI from your computer to the ATEM wihis the computer will just see as another monitor
Is it possible to make multicam chroma key with independient backgrounds per each cam with Atem mini ?

I spent all day yesterday trying to find a decent tutorial on this and you nailed it. Problem I’m finding is I’m keying my “camera 3” where I have a green screen and I can key it out. I leave it and go to camera 1 which is a laptop feed (to show software) switch back to Camera 3 and it’s dropped the keying and shows the green screen again. I’ve set the “follow keying” etc with no good results. Cheers for the tutorial

Michael Ingledew I have the same issue. The key drops as the camera is switched to another feed whether it’s another camera or feed from a computer

hi what if i need the background to be a video, and i have 3 different cameras and all of them i need obviously a video fix bc of the camera angles... thank you! i really need to sort this im driving nuts (trying to make same thing as snoop dog podcasts) background video and zoom ins with different cammeras so i have to scale the video background too... hope u can help me!

Could you tell me how to use this with an atomos recorder? I am assuming The atem is conected to a computer loaded with the software for controls. I also assume that my camera is connected to the atem mini and the hdmi out would go to my atomos recorder to record a live key? Can you tell me if this sounds technically correct. I have never used green screen with an atomos recorder.
The chroma keying is all done in the ATEM so your Atkins recorder will just be recording the composited program output

Ooohhh now that’s a good question. There’s only one upstream keyer, but maybe usin macros ... I’ll get back to you on that

I don't know why more people don't use CC on videos. It's free and automatic, and works really well as long as you're speaking clearly :D
Can I do this if I'm using the ATEM as a webcam in Zoom? I can see the key effect in Preview but (of course) hitting On-Air has no effect and my output just remains as camera 1.
Yes it should be working for you - the usb out is the final composited image. If you like I can do a quick step by step greenscreen for streamers vid
Tim Simpson I have tried everything and I can only get the key to show in preview. (This is with the Atem mini Pro btw.) This is what I see in HDMI out when it is selected for program, I have not checked what is streamed into Zoom itself, but assume that is identical. A quick guide may be helpful. Thanks.

Hey! We just got this new tech for our new streaming we're doing at my job, and it's working really well except the green screen. I followed all your instructions, and the best it got to was the screen turning blue. Is this an issue with the actual screen itself? Because I followed everything you did to a T (which was super easy to follow, thank you!). I'm guessing it's the screen, because it's a fabric sort of screen, and has a lot of crinkles

The ATEM mini does infact have flying keys - I'll do a vid on that just for you :)

yes, but not with the ATEM mini. To do this you'd be looking at one of the more advanced ATEMs with multiple keyers, or using a BlackMagic design mini recorder on each camera directly into a machine running OBS
