this game actually has a pretty dedicated following among the fighting game community. there's still side tournaments for this game at majors

I absolutely love this game. I don't ever watch let's play videos but since its Windjammers I couldn't pass it up. I remember playing this often at Walmart in the mid-90s on the Neo Geo 4 game arcade machine. This is available for the PS4 and is occasionally on sale in the PS Store for anyone that might be interested.
Yeah, our local Wal-Mart had a 4-game Neo-Geo cab as well, It had World Heroes 2 Jet, Zedblade, Samurai Showdown and I think Metal Slug. Next to the Neo-Geo machine was Cadillacs and Dinosaurs.
Very nice game. I always change Time duration of matches. For longer. Also DotEmu is making sequel of this game. We shall See if they will be Able to catch some of charm of the original
24-bit apparently is the perfect match of tech/graphics/power for me... I miss the arcade

Neo Geo was called 24bit Graphics. It is a complicated answer but it is a 24bit graphic bus on a multi-level processor
This game is super competitive when you get players that know how to play. (keep practicing!) One of the best.
This looks amazingly fun as a two player game. Thank you Joe for sticking up for the USA and bringing the championship home and not letting that German Dave win it all.

that game rocks. i remember my local arcade had it as one of the games in a neo geo 4-in-1 acabinet and I spent quite a few quarters on this game. I could beat the first two opponents, but then the game really amps up and kicks your ass

I remember seeing this on a compilation SNK machine at my local pizza hutt as a teenager. I was drawn in so much I keep pumping quarters because the COM kept kicking my ass. Then I moved onto metal slug 2.

This game reminds me of those games they had on that show, "Nick Arcade," where they had these generic games that all seemed to be variations on Pong.

Some of those matches were downright brutal
This game was pretty cool. I played it frequently in the arcade. It was very hard with the computer for sure. No one really talks about it much though unfortunately for some reason.

There's an awesome dodge-ball game for the neo geo if you like this kind of games. I had lots of fun with friends. It's really competitive and it also has special moves.

This game (via MAME) has made me almost destroy my arcade stick from rage. It gets very cheap and difficult end game. Difficulty level: Korean.

I have both games on the Switch and while I have a good deal of respect for Disc Jam, Windjammers just feels a lot better on a gameplay level.
Hopefully the announced Windjammers 2 will recapture the fast-paced magic of the first game.

You guys should try out a game called 'Lethal League' for the PC on Steam, its pretty much the same game but side scrolling instead of top view like this one. I think you guys would enjoy it, heck maybe even enough to do a playing with sacks episode! Great vid BTW!
Windjammers rules. And Joe is right, 2-player mode is the only way to go, as with most arcade sports games or fighting games. The personal competition is what this kind of game is all about.
