it's my second year with my traveler's notebook!! i have three inserts: one weekly + memo for planning and two grid notebooks: one for goals tracking & logging and the other one for journaling / dream journaling
Yay! Thanks for this fun video! For my planner this year, I am trying out this small brand called RGB paper. It started in 2022 and was founded by two Korean-American women, so I was very excited to support a new women-owned business! The planner itself is week to a page, so each weekly spread consists of one page divided into 8 equal squares (seven squares for all days of the week and one square for a list of priorities), and the page on the right is just a blank page. I use the left page for daily to-dos and the right page for a long weekly to do list and notes. One downside is that all monthly calendars are at the beginning - However, the planner has two ribbon bookmarks, so you can always keep one of them where your current monthly calendar is and you don't have to flip through to find it. There are also extra lined pages for notes at the end. The planner is thread-bound and opens flat (!!!) with a faux leather soft cover which is super nice. I love the layout from Appointed, but I didn't like the binding, and the corners of the covers also get ruined pretty quickly, as they stick out beyond the pages. So yeah, I'm excited to see if RGB will work better for me for this year 😊
I've used a Hobonich Techo for the last 2 years and it was such a great motivator to sketch/write each day! The paper is so smooth and with the smaller size, it's so much less daunting then breaking out a huge sketchbook. I can't wait to see what you make in yours (if you choose to share of course)!
Cute! I’m a long-term leuchtturm1917 dotted page user. I love that it’s fully customizable so I make a month calendar at the start of each month and a weekly spread that’s basically the same as your appointed planner. And then theres room for all my notes and journaling and sketching and everything stays nicely chronological. Setting up a new month/week/journal is such a satisfying task and always makes me feel like I can conquer the world lol
I know exactly what you mean about feeling like you can conquer the world hahaha i feel the same way at the start of every week when i'm braindumping tasks hehe
I am obsessed with the appointed planner! You talked about it three years ago I believe and for the past three years I’ve been using this planner and as someone who keeps everything in their head and has ADD and just all over the place… This is the one planner I’ve actually consistently used every year! Typically I’ll give up on a planner and then just all hell breaks loose by the end of the year lol so thank you so much! This is exactly how I work! Happy new year!
Loved this! I’ve been watching a bunch of videos about planners the last week because I decided to make my own in a bullet journal! I love being able to set it up exactly how I like it and includes exactly what I need (mainly using it as a habit tracker and daily to-do list) but I do like the idea of daily drawing in the hobonichi!
I bought a hobonichi weeks MEGA for 2025 and I just love the size of it. The paper is smooth, my pens don't bleed through. And I actually love using water based or acrylic markers in it! Not a lot of bleeding and I loooove the texture it brings. I'm using mine as a journal/diary of sorts on the left hand, and on the right hand, I glue in my scraps and trash, junk journal style 🥰
it’s so frustrating with planners whether it’s week to a page or week to a spread they always make sat/sun just tiny afterthoughts to the mon-fri!!! not everybody is 9-5!! there are shift workers, students, casual/part-time workers, families, self-employed… planners really need to catch up! especially the ones that come with a leave chart still!
I saw so many Hobonichi planners with adorable doodles in them on display in art shops in Japan last year, but didn't know what they were until I saw your Instagram post! This year I'm returning to bullet journalling after a 2 year break, but paring it back. The first half will be two double page spreads per month (calendar and then reflections), and the second half will be like a notebook, with random planning and to-do lists. I got an A5 leuchtturm1917 in the new dusty rose colour 🌸
I use a regular notebook as a bullet journal to write down my daily tasks. I normally stick a monthly calendar on the wall but went for a yearly wall calendar this year so I can see a general overview of my whole year. I’ve also bought a weekly hourly planner pad for my desk for time blocking. I was using Google calendar for this but I decided to go for something that is immediately visible. Not sure if I’ll use mini Post-It notes with it instead of writing things down directly as sometimes I have to adapt to things that come up during the day and the post-its will enable me to move them around.
Interesting that you’re trying out the Hobonichi! I like their 5 year journal, where you keep track of anything (it’s all black space so you can write things like a highlight of the day) for 5 years. Curious how you’ll like the hobinichi paper for your drawings too! I find it best with graphite or pencil creations
I've started in it - my usualy prismacolours arent behaving as they usually would in my other aketchbooks which threw me a little. Might try my black wings OR try putting card beneath the page im working on 😈👉🏼👈🏼 thanks for the tips! Using pen on it is fun however a little bleed through with alcohol marker!
Using the Appointed Co year task planner (smaller version) this year after missing it last year! I used a Moleskine planner for 2024 and it was alright layout-wise, but Appointed just GETS IT RIGHT. I got the leafy green one❤
Happy New Year Sha'an, been following you since your Tumblr days from where I originally discovered you. Your career journey has always been inspirational to me. Wishing you & rocket all the happiness & joy
I have been running on homemade bulletjournals since 2020, but I fell out of love with it in 2024 so have decided to try Appointed planner excited for that :)
@ I’ve not actually used the sketchbook yet but I do think I’d would be really nice for sketching. The paper is slightly see through though once written on with a darker pen 💖
Happy new year! 🎉 Wishing you a lovely and creative 2025 ❤ Your new planner looks fantastic! Predictably, I’m a big fan of the yellow 😂 love the idea of using a daily calendar as a sketchbook, too! I use a bullet journal/all-purpose notebook rolled into one! No frills, just lists of projects, tasks, and related notes. I do timebox my days either digitally or on paper to make sure I have time for breaks at work, etc., but other than that I don’t really use planner layouts. On top of that, keeping separate notebooks for personal journaling, my writing, and a small one to keep in my backpack. I’ve also been keeping a media log since 2023, noting down what I watch/read/listen to and taking quick notes on what I liked. My brain is Swiss cheese, so it really helps. … all of that turns comes out to quite a stack of paper hehe Recommendations for stationery: mishmash and nuuna! A thick A5 nuuna notebook can last me actual years & they always lie flat 😊 (They’re both based in the EU, not sure about stockists overseas! I did encounter my first nuuna in London, funnily enough.)
Sian, it's so funny to see you using the Appointed planner! The brand is based where I am in Washington, DC, so far away from you. I wonder how you even discovered it. I use the same one!
I first found it at a store in (maybe) Highland Park in L.A. I just bought it on a whim but found that it worked SO WELL for my style of task organisation and work flow. I've never looked back haha! I love the company so much 😭✨️💗
I love the jburrows desk planner from Officeworks’s, it’s a monthly calendar lined and it’s great for putting in tasks for the day or reminders, has about 6 lines per date which you probably don’t want to do more then in a day. It’s about $8 lol😅
Hi there! Loved watching your planner setup - your enthusiasm for fresh starts is so contagious! The way you approach planning with both functionality and creativity really resonates with me. As a video editor, I particularly appreciate how you balance organization with artistic expression - something we definitely have in common! Your Hobonichi sketching plans inspire me to maybe start something similar. Those yellow planners are absolutely gorgeous btw! I've been editing lifestyle/creative content for several years now and would love to chat about potentially collaborating on your vlogs. Your authentic style and attention to detail would be amazing to work with! Feel free to reach out if you're ever looking for an editor. Keep spreading that positive energy! 💛✨
I loved this video 🎉 and just to say you look amazing and your dress is awesome ❤ 🍎 Also how is learning to drive going? I’ve just turned 30 and my plan for this year is to learn to drive and I’m very nervous 😂
New here, great planner/notebook journal collection! I like simple, so just calendars, notebooks and index cards! Some RUclips channel videos for example Seaweed Kisses has a video about her pen and gear notebook, Finding Peace on her video Vlogmas Day 12 My most Popular Planners she just using regular notebooks, Planned by Jysla method of using a calendar and back of a receipt in her December Plan with Me and monthly reset video, Vic video on her channel How I keep a Reading journal index cards. Also, Jennifer from the channel time & tide plans index card planning system.
Hello there! Love you and your artwork! 🌞 What services do you recommend for illustrators to trademark and copyright? I’m having a hard time figuring out what sites to use and trust and I need something affordable. I want to buy my trademarked name once instead of paying yearly.
I haven't trademarked or copyrighted anything - australia copyright laws covers anything created automatically. I've found no need to trademark! What are you looking to cover and why?
@ I want to trademark my name soon but I want to trademark it internationally. In the future, I plan to have illustration clients, work and live in other countries. I don’t want to pay yearly to continue the trademark. I’m not sure what’s to trust as far as trademarking without wasting money.
Hiiiii Shaaaaan !! I love your art style 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 quick question: Are we not going to get the long video of Peachtober like the one you do it every year after Peachtober ? Happy new Yeeeaaar ! 💗💗💗💗
Note: this is the Hobonichi Techo ORIGINAL and not Cousin! The Cousin is a5 instead of a6 and also has weekly layouts!
where is your dress from?!
