Big shoutout to Baby Davey (who will surely comment beneath this from his new RUclips channel) for putting this video together. Go give him a kiss or something.
"find your carabiner shot" hit home. I find that one of the best indicators of if I'm on the right path is when I try to passionately explain my carabiner shot to someone and it just completely goes over their head. And I think that's why I love video so much, the things I struggle to communicate in the moment, I can present it cleverly and clearly through my video perspective and creative editing, and then they "get it"... and in the same way you somehow turned this BTS into an emotionally moving piece of art. You're a wizard.
Hah..."We're making a video about making a video, but we don't know what the video is...so, we're just filming everything." Yup. That's real. Love it, such a cool concept and creative way to pull it off. Thanks for sharing not only the process, but also the bigger message of what it means to creative problem solve. So good man.
Watching your BTS videos hints at what it would have felt like to watch Warhol or Pollock create, had RUclips existed then. Thank you for sharing your immense talent with us.
This was AMAZING!!! Motivating and purposeful. Being a “creative” sometimes, (ALL THE TIME 😂🤷🏾♂️) and we overthink and get in the way of just a BEAUTIFUL idea! Other times… we need to see THATS what makes us push ourselves further TO e great. Thank you for this. I’m going on a trip this week and been racking my brain on making the production BETTER and making sure I get my idea out, right and enjoying. But all I’ve been doing is running my mind a million miles a minute. And seeing this, helped a lot. Thank you ✊🏾
It's funny because I totally meant to ask you how you made that, what was referred to as, "anime carabiner shot" because it was brilliant. Thanks for putting this together!
In a world where everyone is wanting AI to solve their creative problems, it's great to be reminded that Jesse Freaking Driftwood gives you waaay better options. Love it.
We always love and learn from your ideas. In our case we sometime have the creative problem but cannot solve it but this video is an encouragement, Thank you so much Jesse!
Thats so true! I spent most of this week trying to figure out one shot that I’ve had an idea for, and today I finally had to admit i couldn’t do it yet. But now I have a goal to work towards this year.
It's already been two years since I dreamed of becoming a film maker while watching your videos. After watching the in-camera transition video, I realized how to shoot, and thanks to you, I got a job and a new goal. I will succeed in time, so I will make a video with you.
That reel was insane. Some people will never know, unfortunately, the "10,000 mastery hrs" you put in into your IG stories back in the day....which kinda led to reel like that being made. So sick.
Super cool, Super Cool. I suspected fishing line because a month or so ago I tied a cargo bike to a zip line with fishing line. I didn't make my Christmas deadline.........yet....I've put down a deposit and ordered a Christmas for 2023.....tHank me later. Great video!!!!
could you not green screen the karabiner and record the footage for the background separate ? 🤔 Love the video btw. You are a great inspiration Jesse !
I rewatch this video just so you can get the Adsense @jessedriftwood This video was life changing it was great watching you adapt to problems it taught me to trust my curiosity!!

@@davemakesmovies2 nice edit👏
Don’t call him Shirley..
Also, I genuinely wish I lived somewhere near you so that I could intern for you and just absorb your filmmaking and creative prowess

This opening interview shot has no business looking that good. Sheesh
That’s Dave’s handy work right there!
Why do I feel so sentimental now?! So good! I gotta find my carabiner shot 🤣
I almost made the title “Instagram reels that don’t suck (EMOTIONAL)” lol

Why was that ending so satisfying
Love you Jessie! You're so right about the problem solving being THE fun! Well, at least for some of us...
Amazing... as usual
Literally one of the few channels that I don't have playback at 1.5x speed or skip sections -- keep it up Jesse!!
Your problem solving is always great to see. Something every creator needs to see more of.

need for retouching string :)
We missed you 🎉
Thank you for sharing it.✌️
Grest stuff. Inspiring

2:44 Hey jesse i would love a tutorial on how you edit dynamic zooms like that or is it just the same as that one fcpx plugin from a few years ago?
