Dennis. The level of competition right now is probably as competitive as it’s ever been. It dropped off for a bit, but look at Hadi, Samson, Brandon, Derek, Nick, Ramy, Bonac, Andrew, Krizo, Hunter… they are all pretty solid. It’s getting better as far as parity across the top 8-10 bodybuilders
Agree 100%. Personally i feel very optimistic about the future in terms of Olympia comp. Could be like 5 guys who could legit win over the next 5 years and no one would be upset. Thats crazy
Living here in northern Europe in 90 we needed to wait so long for new magazines but when we got them, dam i still remember the articles and fotos. for me that's the real golden years in bodybuilding
I followed bodybuilding since the late 80s. Jay Cutler was one of the biggest surprises even Lonnie Tepper didn't think he was going to do any good as a pro. I felt the same way but after witnessing him in 2001 in 2009 he certainly shocked the world he was a great Underdog! Nick Walker is kind of like that now. Some guys it's much more easy to spot the potential.
Great podcast could listen to you guys all day long, such knowledge and love for the sport !! I think most people would agree bodybuilding back in the day was more beautiful, their bodies were more appealing to the fans and plus we had the magazines to see them all , loved that time great memories !!! Only way I could see it making any sense for Most ppl, is if they did say like chest am calves pm, no way would doing chest twice a day or doing 2 upperbody muscles etc like that would be beneficial
One of my gym mates and I said Cutler will succeed Ronnie as Mr O we picked that years before after he finished 14th place we figured eventually he would win it because he had good size people wanted to see a big freak and plus Jay is American we figured eventually Jay would win multiple o titles possibly

Because a lot of things don't add up and ppl don't believe his reasons. He's young, hes entering his prime, he just won a big show and he was qualified for the Olympia...it would be like star athlete in his prime retiring right before the championship game.

Jay's shoulders disappeared once he went on propa TRT, His shoulders were no doubt his best body part and must have been loaded with prime androgen receptors. His shoulders aren't coming back unless he hits the gear hard again (1,500mg/week type stuff). Why would you bother doing that at 50 years of age ? (Madness). So better get used to them shrinking shoulders Jay.

Not everyone's body responds to training in the same way. It's very individual

Everyone’s body is different. Dorian trained 4 times a week, and it worked for him.

Jay doesnt seem to rate Andrew at all.
Which is weird because when Andrew was on his podcast jay told him how great he was and how unbeatable he could be.
