Having been blessed to travel the world, of all the amazing places I visited, Paris is the place that changed my life. I have visited many times and fallen in love with so much of France, but Paris vibrates with a special magic that leaves you haunted, and longing to return. Not personally religious, each of my visits requires a visit to Notre Dame, to check on it and say I’m back for more magic and art. To see her burn, I was sure was the death of me. I have not visited since she burned, but will return when she is back to her old self!
Thank you for restoring the cathedral’s beauty and glory. I saw Norte Dame visiting Paris. I cried watching it burn. Thank you and God bless everyone involved!
So many historic structures have burned - Windsor Castle in 1992, Glasgow School of Art in 2018 (following a blaze just 4 year’s before), Notre Dame in 2019…
From America I have admired the history and meaning of Notradam! It is definitely a symbol of Gods love. Where do negative Nay sayers don’t realize the first and rebuilt creation was from God. If you believe in the miracle of our Lord. Does not have be spoken to Known. Such a beautiful recreation. I would love to see this but I’m too old to ever being there in person. But the destruction and reconciliation Is one of Gods miracles. Thank you for these documentaries.
Although I do not believe in organized religion, I do have a strong spiritual core. That I believe everything has a beginning and comes from something. The original builders cut down massive oaks, leaving the trunk to grow back. In 50 or 60 years, the tree was ready to be used again. The soul of Notre Dame is restored, when rebuilding the 'forest roof', they return and utilize the trees left by the original generation.
I was fifteen the first time I visited Paris. I'm 57 now when Notre Dame caught fire I was shocked it seemed indestructible alas it is not. The masters needed to repair it are probably difficult to find.
No knoweledge has not been lost. And what had been lost (how to deal with trees to build the "forest" in the roof) had already been discovered again : techniques and tools came out of practical archeology in Guedelon (in Burgundy, they are still building a new traditionnal medieval castle)

On August 6, 2019, two Chinese architects won the "Heartbeat of Paris" design in the Notre Dame de Paris reconstruction competition. At that time, the "Heartbeat of Paris" proposal proposed by ZEYU CAI and SIBEI LI from China won the Notre Dame de Paris roofline architectural competition. The highlight of the proposal is the use of magnetic levitation technology to design a "time capsule" device on the tower. The time capsule floats up and down and opens once every half a century, hence the name "Heartbeat of Paris". This design stood out among 226 proposals from 56 countries and received more than 30,000 votes.
