I absolutely love the detail you put into your sketchbooks!! The steps of writing, drawing, detailing, ink and finally paint enthralls me... I'm glued to every step. Thank you so much for your content. I am so excited to give these ideas a try on my next sketchbook. The 3 I'm using now are watercolor paper but I am considering ways to incorporate them into my watercolor as well
I searched “gouache and ink” and found your video, I was excited to see you are from North Bay - my home town! Beautiful artwork! I’ll watch more of your videos. Thank you!
A palimpsest?! That is a new notion to me. Thanks for introducing us to this phenomenon. Very intriguing! I love vintage art work. From visual fine art to jewelry, ceramics, and fashion. Your palimpsest heron came out perfectly. Very beautiful and inspiring. Thanks for this video. ❤🙏❤👍👍👍😊🙂
Isn’t that a neat concept? I came across it in a fiction book (A Discovery of Witches, I believe) and was like wait hold on, what is this?! I did some research and found the whole thing fascinating!!!
@@MarianneVanderDussen Thank you! :) You know, I thought you painted in an existing book, like some artits paint on newspapers, so it was a discovery that you actually first filled the page with text by yourself. :)
Dina’s incredible, isn’t she??? I took both her sketchbook habit workshop and her Instagram course and both have helped me immensely. I asked her how she felt about me making a video of my sketchbooks and she told me to go for it because she wants more people to become keepers of sketchbooks. I agree, it feels like magic to have these books now!!! Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Vos peintures sont magnifiques et très inspirantes ! Merci infiniment ! Je me suis abonnée et ne manquerais pas de cliquer sur le petit pouce en l'air à chaque visionnage de vos vidéos. Bonne continuation et merci encore.
Thank you so much! I love the look of the writing too. I initially included a part in the video where I was talking about what I was writing (sometimes it's deep and profound, other times I have no idea what to say so I talk about the weather). In this video, I'm writing about how self-conscious I am about journaling on camera! But since the text is so tiny you'd never know 😊
Wow, so beautiful! I loved the process! I'm new to acrylic paint, I tried one painting on paper and I loved. I went to seek good techniques and I'm very happy to have found your chanel! 😊

Thank you so much! I learned the fundamentals from Dina, and I was initially nervous about sharing it, even though I've been using these techniques for awhile, because I thought it was *her* way. But when I talked to her she said she considers it non-proprietary, and she'd much prefer if more people began to keep sketchbooks. So I hope this video encourages more people to experiment and give it a shot!
Dear Marianne, you truly create and keep beauty in this world and also manage to capture the deep inner peace that comes with this form of creation. Thank you for this wonderful peaceful video! It made my day, it really did! Love from Germany, Miriam
Miriam, this comment has absolutely made MY day!!! I am SO glad you enjoyed this video and I am beyond grateful that you took the time to write. What a magnificent thing to have an artistic connection in Germany, all the way from my small town in Canada.
Well, I have been watching your videos for quite some time now! I‘m always on the lookout for content that makes me feel that the world is still a beautiful place. You are completely authentic and inspirational. I‘m not an artist myself per se, but next to playing piano and accordion, my second-greatest joy is creating collages. So I do know the deep joy of creation. Also, I have a great appreciation for visual aesthetics, and your videos are stunning and touch a depth inside that is unmarred by outer events, stress or anger. Thank you for that! Stay safe, stay healthy! Love, Miriam

So beautiful and thoughtful. By the way, some pens are not waterproof. My Pilot pen is one example. I used it recently to sketch and then blur with water.
Oh no! I’m sorry that happened to you. I usually do a test of different ballpoint pens with water before I add them into my books, maybe the pilot pen was gel-based? In any case, thank you so much for your wonderfully kind comment, I hope the blur wasn’t too bad on your sketch!

Silver brushes are more expensive but I really love them.
Great catch! The paper itself doesn’t bleed through, however because the pages have a slight overlap, where there’s maybe a quarter inch of the page underneath visible when I am toning, I do put a piece of paper between them just to catch any brush flicks that occur.
