It always sadden me to witness such a house that once represented life. It has helped me to understand that material things will no longer hold its value compared to the true life of any persons.
Just found your channel. Love all things castle and all things antiques. Glad to know this castle has been sold and the new owner is working on it. It would’ve been a shame for all those beautiful antiques to have been ruined. Happy I found your channel.
Another amazing video! The chairs you described as director chairs are English traveling chairs. Nobility would have used them like we now use folding camp chairs. They folded up to make storing them in a wagon easier and use less space. One of the things I love about these videos is the antique furnishings you discover! The architecture is always stunning! But adding the furniture gives them so much character! Thank you BOD, for another incredible exploration! 👍✌️🇺🇸
Savonarola chairs. I have two just like them only mine have lion heads carved into the armrests and high, carved, detachable back boards. They're a riff off an ancient Roman chair carried around by noblemen doing Republic then Empire business in an assigned district. Originally, they were carved ivory that folded up.
Absolutely Stunning!!! Another marvelous place you have brought us home bounded a place to visit. The furniture, itself, is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. The ceilings leave me awestruck. Thanks again to you and your team in bringing abandon beauties for us to view. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Such a beautiful place, should not be abandoned, so much history forgotten. That chandelier is fantastic. Leslie keep doing what you are doing. So much respect for the past. I think you are only one of a few that are documenting these amazing places. These places should not be forgotten!
The "crest" that you keep seeing in all of these castles is the Fleur De Lis / Fleur De Lys - French Monarchs adopted the symbol (it actually dates back to at least 7th century B.C. - so no one actually knows it's original meaning). Hopefully the new owners appreciate the antiques and the architecture - even with all the mold they have to contend with! This was beautiful, thank you for sharing it.
Fleur De Lis is French for Lily flower some call it The Devils Flower, I think people refer to it as the devils flower because Lily's are associated with death.. I am french - dont speak the language well, but I know Fleur is flower for certain.
@@jenniferbriski567 I had someone tell me that at one time. I know that when people pass - it is usually the lily flower that is in the floral arrangements for the funerals. Thats the only reason I can think of as to why someone would call it that.
@@shepherdsvoice3245 @SHEPHERD'S VOICE The Lily has never in historical record been related to evil or the devil, it has been associated with many historical Saints, love, devotion, REBIRTH which is why it is in most funeral arrangements. It also has a strong pleasing fragrance, another reason it's used in funeral arrangements.
I love, LOVE this castle! No way I could /would have left it! Totally would have died in it! To spend your days traversing the halls would never get old! I'm so glad it is being restored ❣️ I love this channel because you are so respectful of the past and history each place you visit. Could not ask for a better narrative explorer! ahhh im so excited to finally get a second to watch one of your videos again! since having a baby in July I have not had any time to watch RUclips!! This one is a perfect one to come back to!! love it xx
Heyy my dear friend Lesley, That was an absolutely epic castle tour! I enjoyed watching every second of your wonderfully made Urbex video. - Also your choice for the background music was a pure delight to listen. Your excitement was even quite infectious, when you were entering the castle to take us viewers at your side on tour through the mostly still quite well preserved rooms. - I especially loved the big but still cozy looking living room with the grand wing piano and the chandelier. But I agree to you, the chandelier in the entrance hall was indeed absolutely breathtaking, because of its enormous size and how beautifully it is designed. - In some rooms there was very elaborately designed and decorated furniture visible, presumably mostly from the end of the 19th century, the period of the so called "historism". - For instance these chairs, which are looking so medieval, I would describe as medieval revival, - also from the late 19th century. - Wonderful to see were these cabinets and secretary desks with the intricate inlay works and the chinoisery deco or Japan deco, which was also very popular in the late 19th century, and very often showing the imagination of the artists, how items from these far east countries might look. Of course I am not excluding the import of authentic furniture from the far east, but because China and Japan were fascinating the mostly rich owners of such castles, they wanted to realize their phantasy and longing for the mystic and fascinating Far East. Thank you dear bro, for sharing this exceptional castle Urbex tour with us viewers. It's only a pity, that such a location is just left to deteriorate slowly away, which makes me actually quite sad, because treasures of great art historical value are going to be left to waste forever! Stay safe, my friend, and take care. Wishing you a very blessed Advent season and a lot of fun together with Maureno on your grand tour. - Many hugs, peace, blessings and kindest regards from quite cold and wintery Switzerland.
Thank you Bros we love your youtube show and we love exploring along with you via tv... I wouldn't change a thing that you do either its all good. Good and safe travels an exploring for your future too. Peace to you~
That was such an amazing tour. Such elegant furniture throughout the castle. Made me kind of sad to see everything deteriorated, but I imagined in my head how grand it used to look during better economical times. Thank you so much. I hope one day when it’s renovated by the new owners, you will be able to give us a tour of restoration. That was so cool. Wish I had been there in reality.
You are living my dream, actually, a lot of people's dreams... you do such an amazing job and you are as passionate and respectful as you can be! Thank you for bringing this joy to us!
Just happened on to this channel and I am obsessed. The furniture and light fixtures I would give anything to have. I am so glad to find out that this wonderful place is being redone. Love watching your adventures.
OMGoodness it’s beautiful and I love how reverently Leslie looks through all that’s left behind. Such respect. And Leslie is certainly not bad on the eyes! What a good looking man.
Only accessible by foot? Then explain away the car width track you walking on. Abandoned? I say bullshit. If this property is to kept a secret then why the hell are you showing the priceless antiques.
Thank you so much for this truly amazing video. Your narration of this fabulous castle was very respectful, also you show such respect and appreciation for the very huge range of very valuable antiques. It must have broken their heart to leave their home and leave everything they had created behind . Glad someone has bought it and of course renovate the castle hopefully a hotel so everyone can enjoy it.😃🇦🇺
Some parts of the castle look old and modern (bathrooms). I'm surprised there wasn't an elevator installed somewhere. That's a lot of stairs to climb 'lazy me'. I want a shower in the tower! Too cool. Great video!
This is an extraordinary explore. It's so sad, all of the beautiful antics just left behind. This place could be a great holiday getaway. I think people would like to stay here. But what happened to the former owners. Horse racing is a very risky business, and maybe they went under. Thank you Lesley for this beautiful documentary. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Bless you
@@s.r.r. Your right. Maybe the owners tried to sell some of the beautiful furniture but couldn't get it out of the door. I thought it very odd that there was a lot of valuable dressers, room dividers, a bedroom set, and more piled up at one of the doors. Almost as if waiting for a moving truck to pick it up. But the truck never came. It's all so strange.
Thank you for another great explore! It's a shame to see such a beautiful building slowly falling into wreck & ruin. Here are a few notes FYI: (1) I’m not 100% certain but I think the room beside the grand salon was originally the dining room and that the built-in cabinetry was used to display the house’s dinner service & flatware. (2) The round seat in the middle of that room is called a “borne settee” and is derived from the two-seat “tête-à-tête” or “indiscret” (adding a third seat is called a “chaperone chair” and collectively they’re known as “conversation chairs”). (3) In the entrance hall, the chest of drawers you describe as gold-plated looks like a reproduction with what’s called Boulle marquetry that employs tortoiseshell inlaid primarily with brass or pewter (If it was original-17/18th century-it would be in a museum or a grand stately home or castle and worth many 100s of thousands of euros). (4) The director’s chair in the grand salon is a Roman design called a “curule seat” that was reserved for imperium; in Europe, symbolically it denotes power & authority. Original designs folded so as to be carried into battle. While this x-shaped chair design was found in ancient Egypt, Rome & Greece it has been used throughout the centuries and has many different names: often, when it has a back, it is called a “Savonarola chair” (5) It’s difficult to tell whether the piano is 6’ or 8’ but it’s tragic to see a beautiful piano in such poor condition; I’d say it’s mid-to-late 19th century and in restored condition would be worth at least €10,000 and poss. as much as €30,000. (6) The “crest’ on the floor tiles & on the iron fire-plate is called a “fleur-de-lys” (lily flower) and has been used in European heraldry for centuries, though it is most often associated with the royal and/or the noble houses (those connected to royalty) of France. While there are many stunning, genuine antiques left in this chateau, there is also some reproductions and 20th-century furniture, in particular, the Chinoiserie pieces and the white & gold ‘baroque’ bedroom suite.
I have a duchess dressing table 1840 English made carved decorations around mirror beautiful couldn't sell it but would love to know what people considered it to be worth it is mahogany.
I ran across your channel about castles and was curious to see them. I’ve always wondered about it as he said we couldn’t go there. It would have been awesome! Thank you for your adventurous tours they are amazing!!
Leslie did you notice that the bedrooms were busted into? The door frames were busted. Maybe that top room was a small chapel? I wonder where the servants lived. What a beautiful castle! Your attention to each piece of furniture, the camera person slowly moving with each shot. Everything about your video has made me a subscriber and fan!
The architecture and the ceilings are stunning with all of the antiques oh my gosh. I’m wondering if the rim with the round SETI The wall that had all the sections in it I wonder if that held all of their trophies. The chandelier around the staircase is enormous. I have never seen one so large

Absolutely loved this tour - and I am so glad to read that it has been sold and will receive some much needed TLC before it goes into further disrepair.
What a masterpiece this castle is! Architecture, fine finishes, lovely marble work, glorious woodwork with fantastic carving detail- really lovely, incredibly made furniture, cabinetry and antique pieces! The horse detail painted on the glass of one intricately detailed cabinet took my breath away! The tower with a window in the tile shower, who would have thought of that! That cascading chandelier that is perfect for the immense marble staircase area with the high windows! Gorgeous! To be surrounded by so much beauty and tasteful extravagance in this lush green natural setting…what more could you ask for? This is the most fantastic castles yet! Every room, corridor, stairway and space held such wonderful detail and furnishings. You could tell a great deal about the people who built, decorated and furnished this edifice! Leslie, I love these tours with you because you have such curiosity, tempered by sensitivity to using care as you adventure through the rooms, plus a love, appreciation and respect for each of these treasures!

This is by far one of my most favourite tours of all! It's a shame that all the artefacts from the castle owners are gone, but I think it's been a hotel as well - which is why all the bathrooms are new, and the beautifully 'contrived' cupboards are all empty. And it's such a pristine exploration! But I'm so pleased to learn that it's been bought since you explored it, and that it will 'live' once again. I absolutely LOVE your videos. Thank you, guys! So Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!!! I hope it's also a productive and prosperous one for you both : ) XX
It would be interesting to know the history but if they expose the info looters & vandals will have an easier time finding & wrecking the place. They purposely try to keep it unknown because this is highly illegal. We all enjoy seeing these grand places & for most everyone it’s the only way we’re ever going to see these castles. They’ll be turned into expensive hotels or lost forever. This is dangerous but I’m eager to see the amazing architecture & furnishings.

It always sadden me to witness such a house that once represented life. It has helped me to understand that material things will no longer hold its value compared to the true life of any persons.
Wow loved this whole place and all those furnishings. Thank you for sharing your tour
That was a very beautiful castle. Love the furniture, it was gorgeous. Thank you for sharing these places. God bless you and take care.
Just found your channel. Love all things castle and all things antiques. Glad to know this castle has been sold and the new owner is working on it. It would’ve been a shame for all those beautiful antiques to have been ruined. Happy I found your channel.
This is a marvelous time capsule filled with valuable antiques! Love it!😉
Les escaliers qui sont en pierre ou en marbre m'ont toujours fasciné, ils sont tellement solides et beaux
Absolutely love mansions that are intricate mazes like this one was. Very intriguing and beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Truly Beautiful! So many wonderful furniture pieces left behind. I would have loved to stay there when it was a Hotel. Thank you for sharing!
Another Beautiful Castle.
I can't get enough and I will get lost in that Castle. Such a beauty.
Lesley… you do a wonderful job… thank you so much!!
@@shepherdsvoice3245 No, it is not referred to as the devils flower, the Lily has always been associated with Saints. Devil in French is Diable.
The French public education system must have caught up with the American's for this young Frenchman not to know that.
Realmente disfruto viendo a traves de tus ojos esos maravillosos castillos, sus muebles, su estructura. Excelente!
Look forward to each new adventure! USA
ahhh im so excited to finally get a second to watch one of your videos again! since having a baby in July I have not had any time to watch RUclips!! This one is a perfect one to come back to!! love it xx
You did a great job at the video. Keep it up with more videos.
Heyy my dear friend Lesley, That was an absolutely epic castle tour! I enjoyed watching every second of your wonderfully
made Urbex video. - Also your choice for the background music was a pure delight to listen.
Your excitement was even quite infectious, when you were entering the castle to take us viewers at your side on tour through
the mostly still quite well preserved rooms. - I especially loved the big but still cozy looking living room with the grand wing piano
and the chandelier. But I agree to you, the chandelier in the entrance hall was indeed absolutely breathtaking, because of its
enormous size and how beautifully it is designed. - In some rooms there was very elaborately designed and decorated furniture
visible, presumably mostly from the end of the 19th century, the period of the so called "historism". - For instance these chairs, which
are looking so medieval, I would describe as medieval revival, - also from the late 19th century. - Wonderful to see were these
cabinets and secretary desks with the intricate inlay works and the chinoisery deco or Japan deco, which was also very popular
in the late 19th century, and very often showing the imagination of the artists, how items from these far east countries might look.
Of course I am not excluding the import of authentic furniture from the far east, but because China and Japan were fascinating the
mostly rich owners of such castles, they wanted to realize their phantasy and longing for the mystic and fascinating Far East.
Thank you dear bro, for sharing this exceptional castle Urbex tour with us viewers. It's only a pity, that such a location is
just left to deteriorate slowly away, which makes me actually quite sad, because treasures of great art historical value are going
to be left to waste forever!
Stay safe, my friend, and take care. Wishing you a very blessed Advent season and a lot of fun together with Maureno on
your grand tour. - Many hugs, peace, blessings and kindest regards from quite cold and wintery Switzerland.
Thank you Bros we love your youtube show and we love exploring along with you via tv... I wouldn't change a thing that you do either its all good. Good and safe travels an exploring for your future too. Peace to you~
Beautiful place, glad someone is going to rescue this fantastic place!
I am so grateful that someone has purchased and is renovating this wonderful place!! 🙌 💯❤❤👍👍👏👏🙏🙏
Wow, how beautiful this palace is،I loved his architecture and antique bedrooms.
Доброго времени суток. Прекрасный замок, замечательный обзор. Потрясающая антикварная мебель, а люстры 👍👍👍👍
This place had the most amazing variety of beautiful antique furniture. Wow! Great video! Thank you. 😊
You are living my dream, actually, a lot of people's dreams... you do such an amazing job and you are as passionate and respectful as you can be! Thank you for bringing this joy to us!
we go
It's interesting that the last 2 abandoned castles I've watched, that you filmed in France, have since been sold. I think you are good for business!
Sehr gute Arbeit. Sehr schönes Schloss. Beste Grüße aus Deutschland. 👍
I always thought so
Thank you so much for this truly amazing video. Your narration of this fabulous castle was very respectful, also you show such respect and appreciation for the very huge range of very valuable antiques. It must have broken their heart to leave their home and leave everything they had created behind . Glad someone has bought it and of course renovate the castle hopefully a hotel so everyone can enjoy it.😃🇦🇺
I would love to live in a place like this!! It's so beautiful!!
Beautiful castle in a beautiful setting. Thanx Leslie great tour 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Some parts of the castle look old and modern (bathrooms). I'm surprised there wasn't an elevator installed somewhere. That's a lot of stairs to climb 'lazy me'. I want a shower in the tower! Too cool. Great video!
This is my absolute favorite one from you! It was awesome. Thank you for taking me places through your lens! Amazing!
Bless you
Why didn't they sell the antiques or the entire castle? It's strange that it's abandoned with so much value there.
@@s.r.r.
It's not anymore

Do you know something about this castle?
Beautiful plcefor weddings when it’s been restored
What an amazing castle. I am so happy someone is going to be taking care of it now. Good job showing us the castle Leslie. Thank you!
Enjoyed this place. Let the imagination run wild. Have a wonderful, safe holiday! ⛄ Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas, Jeannette!
What a shame that these things are left to rot.
As a lover of antique wood and upholstered furniture, I wanted to cry while watching this video. Thanks for sharing this magnificent property!
Thank you for another great explore! It's a shame to see such a beautiful building slowly falling into wreck & ruin. Here are a few notes FYI:
(1) I’m not 100% certain but I think the room beside the grand salon was originally the dining room and that the built-in cabinetry was used to display the house’s dinner service & flatware.
Thanks for the detailed description of the furnishings.
@@artistknownaslisa2850 You're very welcome.
Thank you for the effort you took to give us so much of details!
@@orchid3457 You're welcome, Orchid 😊
I have a duchess dressing table 1840 English made carved decorations around mirror beautiful couldn't sell it but would love to know what people considered it to be worth it is mahogany.
Thanks Lesley for another great tour, so interesting. I'm happy someone purchased the castle to restore it to its former glory. Stay safe exploring!
I ran across your channel about castles and was curious to see them. When I was young I heard my dad talking about receiving a letter from the Gard family in France asking if we would be interested in the castle. I’ve always wondered about it as he said we couldn’t go there. It would have been awesome! Thank you for your adventurous tours they are amazing!!
Some of those furniture pieces are exquisite and very unique!
Breathtaking scenery while looking out the tower window. What a marvelous place.
Leslie did you notice that the bedrooms were busted into? The door frames were busted.
Maybe that top room was a small chapel?
I wonder where the servants lived. What a beautiful castle! Thank you Leslie this was truly a treat. Wishing you a magical Christmas and definitely a prosperous, healthy and happy new year! Love from me as always in California💜🎄😎🤟🏻🇺🇸
Your attention to each piece of furniture, the camera person slowly moving with each shot. Everything about your video has made me a subscriber and fan!
These were very wealthy people. Everything is looks so expensive and custom detailed. Castle is actually in a great condition.
I am so glad when I hear they're being rescued now and probably your documentaries helped to shed the light to save them🎉
The architecture and the ceilings are stunning with all of the antiques oh my gosh.
I’m wondering if the rim with the round SETI The wall that had all the sections in it I wonder if that held all of their trophies. The chandelier around the staircase is enormous. I have never seen one so large
Thank you for the added information and sharing your knowledge. Very interesting.
I am happy/glad to read that this property has been sold and is no longer abandoned. Bravo et bonne chance!
Dziękuje za te bardzo ciekawe i cudowne wycieczki. Jestem zachwycona waszymi opowieściami pokazywaniem tych niedostępnych a jakże cudownych i historycznych budowli. Pozdrawiam serdecznie i dziękuję także serdecznie.
Absolutely loved this tour - and I am so glad to read that it has been sold and will receive some much needed TLC before it goes into further disrepair.
Beautiful! So sad this castle is left abandoned.
New to your channel. You have a great voice for tv or radio. I felt calm and relaxed.
Que móveis maravilhosos faz pena se acabar assim no tempo que bom gosto de decoração lindo
Gracias👍😜
How beautiful. Some of the furniture I have never seen before. Thanks for the tour.
Honestly, I want to know the history of the family with a connection to the castle!
Beautiful video! I love the music you choose fir these regal mansions and castles! Peaceful ❤❤❤😊
