As a retired Antiterrorism Officer, we call this “probing.” He’s probing to see what vulnerabilities he can exploit. His intent likely wasn’t to actually stop funding; it was to see what, and how much, he can get away with.
bro is running vulnerability scan on the government.
You are absolutely correct.
Obviously his probing though is far less discreet and zero grace. But I guess when you're at the top, you don't need to pretend and make nice
So we should be seeing more shit like this in the future? This is going to be a loong 4 years.
As a retired monkey chimp I feel like blah blahblah
Reminds me of an onion article: “Trump abolishes the constitution with little known loophole ‘no one will stop me.’”
The Onion is basically dead. They can no longer compete with the absurdity of US reality.
I'm very afraid that will become reality. What happens when the Supreme Court rules against him on something and he just says "Yeah, you and what army?" and goes right on doing what he wants? Who's gonna stop him?
If only the onion was wilder than reality...
He lost the house in 2018 due to his horrible first two years. 2026 is what people need to care about. Also any intermediate local elections. Find out the election schedule and research the candidates, especially in the non party races like school board and judges. Tell everyone you know the names of people to support. You have 2 years to save yourselves.
The republican just lost in an iowa state senate election in a district that went +21 trump last november. The democrat won. People are realizing trump lied to them.
Without proper enforcement mechanisms, the constitution means nothing.
Sadly, the president is one of those enforcement mechanisms, and except for an election defeat, removing a president acting unconstitutionally is exceedingly difficult.
If I was put in charge of amending the constitution, I’d probably add some ”vote of no confidence” system for the president, or at least relax the criteria for impeachment.
Perhaps I’d even add multiple ways to remove a sitting president for redundance’s sake, such as if the supreme court rules that the sitting president is showing contempt for the constitution, then only a simple majority is needed for impeachment, and if congress is also shown showing contempt for the constitution, then a majority of state legislatures need to vote to impeach the president.
Of course, there needs to be some mechanism for if the supreme court shows contempt for the constitution as well.
When Congress and the Supreme Court openly state that the president is a king above law, what exactly does "that's illegal," or "that's unconstitutional" even mean anymore?
USSC only said that the president has immunity for official acts. Illegal acts cannot be official acts, so he can be charged and held responsible. But the chance of that happening is in reality zero.
I think these sorts of videos are still important, if only to explain what exactly is wrong rather than everyone looking at one another and saying "that can't be legal, can it?" and helps us understand what exactly is wrong. However, good lord it sure is frustrating to hear that these things are not supposed to be allowed and know that fact likely isn't going to do much of anything, and the majority of people have no idea what to DO about it.

Most baffling conversation I’ve had recently was with my dad. We’re Canadian but he’s always said that if he could he’d vote for Trump because ‘at least Trump doesn’t lie’.
After the executive orders started coming out my dad and I were talking. He said he can’t support him anymore because Trump is acting like a king, Trump has ‘suddenly gone off the deep end and started enacting policies that he has no right to’.
I didn’t say anything at the time but all that was going through my head was ‘the face eating leopards loudly and truthfully proclaimed they will eat our faces, and you, trusting them to tell the truth, somehow thought they’d never do that to you!’ I don’t know if I’d call it stupidity or a lack of education, but he still praises Elon Musk’s every word so I have little hope he’s changed.

@dragskcinnay3184 anyone can game the system. anyone can be corrupt. anyone can be biased. just because you have a job/title doesn't mean shit, as is the case of people criticizing Trump here, even tho he's the president. the laws/court/layers have wavered plenty of bad people to be set free, like states like NY that let many criminals go.
@@FangsOfKomodo
Alright, let's answer that point by point.
1) The first three sentences : I genuinely don't get your point.
2) “just because you have a job/title doesn't mean shit, as is the case of people criticizing Trump here, even tho he's the president”
Being POTUS and being a lawyer are very different. Being a lawyer requires studying law, otherwise you don't become a lawyer. So it makes sense to put more trust in what a lawyer says about the law than what a random dude says about the law, it's their literal job to know about that field.
Being POTUS is an elective job, that doesn't require an exam, and therefore it's a politician's job. And politicians lie and deform the truth all the time, because that's kind of their job, that's how they get elected and how they stay in power.
I'm not saying politicians systematically lie and lawyers systematically tell the objetive, unbiased truth, but there's still a huge difference.
3) “the laws/court/layers have wavered plenty of bad people to be set free, like states like NY that let many criminals go.” That's pretty vague, i'm not sure I understand your point fully, but if you're talking about leniency in the justice system, that's a whole other debate that I don't really want to get into, mostly because I don't see what it has to do with my original comment ?
They want Germany 1933, we’ll give them France 1789
Or Romania 1989
Sad thing is most Americans won’t get this because of the butchered education system

No one wants Germany 1933, stop fear mongering.
When everyone thought voting him in meant they'd get more money in their pockets (how?), but he's just defunding key systems. 7 days after defunding the aerospace safety committee and the TSA and we have a military helicopter running into a commercial flight in DC. Helecopters can go up, down, and turn around, it's so manueverable. That plane was scheduled to land there at that time. And channel four states there was no loss of communication and "both aircraft were in standard flight patterns". They just don't want to blame the military for flying where they shouldn't have been during training.
100% the fault of that particular helicopter for crashing. It doesn't go beyond that.
See? You all don’t even know what you’re talking about. Can’t even find something negative that actually involves him. Always bringing up things that are either made up or something he didn’t even have anything to do with
By lowering gas prices by increasing the supply, that's how he'd lower prices for everything. hes cutting tax's as well and a significant one is corporate tax 15% (down from 30%) lowering the products cost. Thats how he'd put more money back in our pockets!
@biscuitking5444 dude you're like 10

The question isn't "is what Donald Trump doing illegal". Even with no legal knowledge, if you just always bet "yes", good odds you're going to win.
The question is, will Congress take the appropriate action in response. And given Congress's long history of ceding its own authority to the Presidency, my guess is "no".
All Hail King Trump.
Dear god, it’s only been ten days. I’m going to age so hard these four years. Can we get a class action lawsuit going for any stress-related health issues by the end of this?

I'll join. Most research says stress decreases your lifespan and I'd say thats a solid case if half or more of the us population joins.

@LegalEagle - can you do this for us???
I’ve had a migraine for the past 7 days. That’s a record for me.
Reminder to any federal employees reading this. Just because you've you've been ordered to do something, or not do something, doesn't mean you have to. You always have the option to just ignore orders. Always. That may have consequences, but some things are worth risking.
"You always have the option to just ignore orders. That may have conseequences but some things are worth risking." Uh huh. Easy for you to say that someone else's hardships are "worth risking." Would you risk being able to feed and clothe your kids by "ignoring orders"?
Tell that to someone who is living pretty much pay cheque to pay cheque. With debts incurred by the last time the government stopped paying you. With rent or a mortgage, medical care, food to buy etc.
That’s the exact reason as to why you should take the risks. To ensure tomorrow will be better even if you don’t see its dawning. If you live afraid today then you will live in fear tomorrow.
@@letolethe3344 Yes, it's easy to say; and we'll keep saying it, repeatedly and loudly, because there has been people who risked and even lost their own life by disobeying orders that would had harmed or killed thousands of other people.
@@arturoaguilar6002 Yeah, but it's an asshole move to pressure other people to risk their lives and livelihoods without saying what you're willing to risk. I'm sure you're ready and willing to pay money to help support the children of federal workers who go to jail, right?
My friend works with researchers at a local university working on TB. All hell broke loose when this came out the first time when it was announced that essentially all their research funding is gone. The NEXT DAY, a massive TB outbreak broke in I believe Kansas. We were wondering how long the funding is going to be halted after that. This is such a clusterf*ck
wth is tb?

It's always cute how you lawyers cite existing case law, and point out how everything Trump does is illegal, as if jurisprudence mattered anymore with this SC.

Keep up the good fight, these are the truths that must be spoken to power.
The worst thing about this is that he can keep doing this for the next 1600 days and even if 100% of his attempts of breaking the constitution are overturned, he suffers zero consequences from this.

I’m going to be honest: I have absolutely zero faith in the current Democratic leadership being able to combat this level of corruption. They need to step aside and allow younger, more rejuvenated and angry leadership to step up and fight this every step of the way.
They don't control any of the branches. There's literally nothing they can do no matter who leads.
Not even very much they could do beyond the legal side- voters decided that the GOP needed a trifecta and that puts the Dems in a very powerless position. However its totally keeping with history to have the Dems blamed for GOP overreach and not "doing something" when not enough of them were voted into power to do anything.
they've already failed. the response to reagan set us up for this.
The Democratic party is essentially funded by the same group of people who fund the Republican party. They are paid to kick up some dust about how bad and mean the Republicans are, but never *actually stop them from doing the harmful things*.
This is a class war, and if the bottom 99% don't stop falling for the Divide and Conquer BS, we will be enslaved in everything but name by the end of the decade, if not the end of the fuckin year.
@@coolnerdlll6053But there is practically zero pushback. The most substantive action from leadership was Chuck Schumer saying that Trump was defunding the police.
Younger representatives like AOC and Frost are out there day and night calling this exactly what it is, telling people that what is happening is wrong and it is not business as usual.
That is the mentality we need to demand from our representatives. It’s a level of fight that current leadership does not possess. The fact that they decided to call, and I quote, *”an emergency meeting tomorrow”* perfectly encapsulates that the people helming this ship are wholly unprepared to fight for the people.

At 15:36 "eventually a democratic president will be elected" is only true if there is a new election and I don't think they were joking when republican won't have to vote in the future because "it will be fixed". People forget january 6 way to easily as if a coup can't happen again.
I've been saying that for a while and find it utterly terrifying that so many people are blithely ignoring that bit. As a statement of his intent, it could not have been more clear
Eventually a nepotic prince will ascend to the throne. Or an oligarch will stage a coup. Or something from the Death of Stalin movie.
Since the Jan 6th coup people are pardoned, that's Trump's way of saying a coup is totally okay. Perhaps one against him?
With how broken and corrupt the party is it'll be a couple cycles to say the least. But with the likes of Vivek and Tulsi we'll be more then fine 👌
It just happened. Elon took control of the treasury. It's a coup.
I'm still stuck on the fact that a convicted felon and twice impeached former president was even allowed to run again in the first place
This seems to have mostly helped his campaigns: the root cause for people supporting him was the same as in his previous campaign. He was the one candidate who was telling people feeling pain that he would do something that would help them. Since that didn't really work out the first time around, he was able to blame his political enemies for obstructing him. Since nobody really wanted to finally start filing criminal charges against a sitting president and waited until he was out of office, that basically allowed him to claim political persecution - and as he was still the one person seen as sympathetic, a lot of people simply refused to look into the charges or dismissed them as "stuff every politician does".
@@DanaOtken My usual reply to that is, "Every politician cheats on his pregnant wife with a porn star then lies about it?"
This is terrible, but let me put it a different way: Democrats were incapable of putting forth a candidate that would be able to win against a twice impeached convicted felon.
Just how badly do you need to let down your voters for this to happen? And not through some voting ordination trick - Trump won te popular vote. Most of people who bothered to vote preferred Trump - a candidate that should have been thoroughly unelectable even if legally permitted to run.
And now Democrats and their hardline sympathizers seem to be more focused on blaming the voters rather than appealing to them. I'm not a specialist, but I have a sneaking suspicion that "you're, sexist, racist pieces of s**t, too dumb to vote how you should" might not be all that effective at swaying the undecided who voted Trump or stayed home this time.
there isn't a law about it... so stay tuned in case there's ever a possibility of a constitutional amendment later
