@@Sudriantank743yep, I did see a listing for it, it was something like $200 I can’t exactly remember but I still got it, so I actually have lorry 3 as well.
Recently bought all three of the Ertl Horrid Lorries. Having all 3 of the lorries in one place is so nice. Never would have thought about that as a child.
I also believe that they decided to release lorry 2 as a tanker truck even though he’s not a tanker truck and that’s probably why they made him an exclusive to the sodor service station
Lorry 1 is easy to find, Lorry 2 is fairly common, but still hard to find. Lorry 3 is the rarest of all the Horrid Lorries as he was only available in 2002
In an ironic twist of fate, the only Lorry I had as a kid was Lorry 3, arguably the rarest of them all. The Service Station was retired not long after I was born, and I never had any of the items Lorry 1 was bundled with. But someway, somehow, I got Lorry 3. And not just Lorry 3, I got the entire 3-pack he was bundled with sometime during either 2008 or early-mid 2009, long after the promotion had ended. I legitimately have no memory of how my parents and I stumbled across it, but I do have a hypothesis. We got the bulk of our Thomas Wooden Railway items from either Toys-R-Us or a model train shop next to our local grocery store. I’m guessing one of them had extra stock left over from the promo, and was just giving it away one lucky day when we were inside the store. I’m leaning towards Toys-R-Us being the more likely one to have the extra stock, but the model shop did have a tendency to sell items that weren’t being sold at retail anymore.
I Would've Thought A 3 Pack Would've Existed For The Horrid Lorries, But Since You Revealed The Fact That It's Not The Case. It's Gonna Be A Lot Harder Than I Thought To Buy All The 3 Lorries
Honestly there’s a bit of a difference between *rare* and *expensive* when it comes to the Horrid Lorries. I got my Lorry 3 for more than I’m willing to admit, from a lot that had all three of them and out of the three of them, he’s the one in the best condition. I still think Lorry 2 should’ve had a smirking face like in the scene at the quarry with Toby. Interestingly, Lorry 2’s cargo magnet doesn’t attach to Cranky’s hook, while Lorry 3’s does. For some reason, the crane that comes with the Coal Station has a magnet that connects differently. I’m not sure if I’m explaining this properly and I don’t even remember if I touched up on it when I reviewed them. (If that video is even up anymore.) And by the way, I have the TWR Collector’s book and I can confirm it claims Lorry 3 is only worth $9. Oof. That doesn’t hold up at all.
I vaguely remember owning either Lorry 1 or Lorry 2 when I was a kid, and never even knew you could get the third one as well. It just seems so bizarre that 2 and 3 were so rare or difficult to obtain. As for the 'Horrid Lorry' episode itself, it's my personal favourite of the whole show.
Honestly, the story of these 3 items is super sad. It would have been so much better if they would have sold them equally in different sets or even a 3 pack. But with that being said, I’d say that Lorry 3 is the rarest considering he’s the most unique of the 3 and wasn’t sold on store shelves.
Had Lorry 1 from the Docks set as a kid, as for the other two, I've had to shell out roughly $50-$100 each for the items they came in on eBay; totally worth it though! I've always had a fascination for niche characters like these in Thomas, they make Sodor feel so much more lived in, ya know?
Fun Fact: Of the three Horrid Lorries, only Lorry 1 was released in Take Along. A theory is that Ertl only made Lorry 1 as a Sea-Soaked version, while the other two were regular variants.
I do have all 3 thanks to Ebay. I did actually found the Sodor Service Station with Lorry 2 at a toy store in San Fransisco for $30, with the box, which was crazy and I instantly bought it. As for Lorry 3, I do have him, but he doesn’t have his cargo, which is a shame because it’s the only cargo that’s actually in the episode
Hey, I also happen to have Lorry 3 from WAY back! Me and mom got him along with Boco and Tiger Moth when we visited one of our friends' houses in our old city.
Would be nice if Lorry 4 was also introduced in the following season, maybe in a story where he proves he can be a good character instead of a bad character. 😊
Oddly enough, I don’t have Lorry 1! I had Lorries 2 & 3 since childhood. I had no idea Lorry 3 came in a promo pack! I definitely got it in that pack, but I have no memory of the promo in question!
Like all three Lorries, I find Lorry 3 the rarest too. Also here’s Thomas’ quote from the episode with their names added in: “Smashed (Lorry 2), broken (Lorry 3), and sunk (Lorry 1).”
I have all three of them, and I was lucky enough to get the Service Station and Lorry 2. Lorry 2 is easily the rarest. I’ve seen very few listings for 2. Quite a few pop up for Lorry 3 for me. I agree, selling Lorry 3 only in the pack is a terrible idea. If the pack he was in was available in stores, okay, maybe that would work.
I had gotten both Lorry 2 and 3 from Ebay. I don't have the Fuel Station that Lorry 2 came from. I am not sure if it would be worth trying to get it, though after watching this video.
Great video :) Something I'd like to bring up about the Horrid Lorries is that in the episode Lorry 2 had more dialogue than his brothers Lorries 1 and 3 and Lorry 1 got more merchandise out of the trio. Ironic, don't you think?
Straightly lorry 3 is the only horrid lorry I own and there's a funny story on how I got him at first I was about to spend 120 dollars on one off ebay when the listing end until about a week later I saw one a my local flea market and quickly asked the seller how much he wanted for it and said I could have it for free
It would have been great if lorries 2 & 3 were also sold separately like Lorrie 1, why didn’t learning curve do this, or they could have sold all 3 lorries together, also I don’t understand why they included a random flatbed with lorrie 1 but they didn’t include an extra piece of cargo, but I still like the flatbed as well as the lorries
Lorry 3 is more rare. Since that promo gift pack was only manufactured in 2002. Lorry 2 (& the Service Station) were manufactured from 2002 up until the end of 2004. It’s a 1:3 ratio between those two.
I remember some years back getting a Lorry 3 but without his cargo piece for around I think $70, that cargo piece still alludes me to this day. Also had a spare Lorry 1 from the Recycling Center that I customized into the blue Lorry 4. Also just looked at eBay right now and a clean and complete Lorry 3 is going for $225 and a trashed one with a brown cargo piece from Kevin is going for $75 😵💫. Oh and a listing for the “Promo for Coupons” 3-pack, well it’s Australian listing going for $400 🤯.
As a kid I had 2 Lorry 1s but only one of the flatbeds that was supposed to come with it, I wish I could get the other two but the eBay listing I found for the other 2 Lorries were ridiculous, the cheapest Lorry 3 I could find was $225 while Lorry 2 was $115 with the Service Station. I may prefer the classic Wooden Railway style of Learning Curve to Mattel’s take on it, but I will admit this was definitely one of their biggest mistakes in marketing these characters
Believe it or not, I actually found Lorry 3 for only $18 on Ebay back in 2015. The model had a few small scratches, but was otherwise in good condition. I had already gotten Lorry 1 the year before, and when I saw Lorry 3 listed for such a low price, I knew I couldn't let that opportunity slide! I think you're right that it is a tossup between whether Lorry 2 or Lorry 3 is rarer, though logically it should be Lorry 3. I have a feeling that the excess of Lorry 1's that were included in random sets were probably extra "Lorry with Flatbed" packs that didn't sell and had to be redistributed somehow, whereas I doubt Learning Curve made any more Lorry 2's and Lorry 3's than they thought were necessary. It's definitely a shame that these guys never got a three-pack, though, since they're easily some of my favorite road vehicles in the whole franchise.
Most of them were either given away as extras, sold to the public even though they weren't supposed to be, used as toys on a playtable, pawned off on eBay...
I somehow never got Lorry 1 back in the day, and bought all three of them on eBay at the same time in high school, which was close to ten years ago by now. Lorry 1 was NIB, and still way less expensive than the other two, but even then I managed to get 2 and 3 for around $40 each. Luckier still, somewhere down the line one of Lorry 2’s wheels broke, and I went on eBay and managed to find another Lorry 2 for
The second and third horrid lorries have barely appeared in merchandise compared to the first one, and when it comes to Wooden Railway they’re hard to get.

Tigermoth and Lorry 3 don't compare to BoCo. just because something isn't on ebay doesn't mean its not out there. kind of a baseball card or comic book situation. people forget which baseball cards and comic books they own just like how children and parents forget that lorry 2 is up on their attic, collecting dust in their equivalent of andys toy box from toy story 3
