I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of green space available for everyday use. Thank you for taking us on this lovely journey around London.
For a project to keep the channel humming while Goodwin nurses her battle scars, this was a great view of some diverse London scenery. There's no shame in making straight for home when darkness and low batteries dictated, and the video has the familiar Harry polish and authenticity.
As an old touring cyclist and London visitor, ebike aficionado and general proponent of adventures urban and otherwise….. wow!!! Could hardly have been better. I couldn’t put it down. The combination of Timelapse with occasional real time audio and video clips was brilliant. Every bit as good as your boat adventure and perhaps more relatable.
Imagine watching this in hundred years time, maybe more. What you’ve done Harry is create a video time capsule of London for our future generations. I thank you on their behalf. ❤️
Wow! What a brilliant video, which must have been a beast to edit. Such a great perspective of London, too, showing how lush and green it is. Thanks for a great watch, Harry and Richard!
as someone who regularly travels slower than walking speed sitting in london traffic.... watching you both fly through london was incredibly satisfying
Another great video! I’d love to have heard the conversation… wanna go for a bike ride? Yea where do you want to go? Errrrm how about around London?? 😂 . Everyone should have a friend that’s always up for an adventure!
chronically underwatched. Having not lived in london since student days this bought great memories and as said below just shows how much green space there is. Living overseas in a country with barely 100 years of modern history but another couple of hundred years of trading history, I am always amazed by your ability to casually mention buildings and structures built ludicrously long ago. Keep up the excellent work.
I suppose bikes you can lift easily rises to priority only well into the route. I would not have anticipated the need to portage your bicycles. A channel that runs on our curiosity and an appreciation of authenticity and the craft of digital visual storytelling.
Wait, where's Waldo, I mean Goodwin? Maybe you could have used the little tire pressure fitting caps for the map... The plot of Blow Up was pretty thin, but the cinematography was terrific, and that great scene with the Yardbirds (miss you Jeff Beck) was priceless. Anyway, a great journey. Thanks for having us along!
15:17. sweet little bit of editing!! This is a really interesting video, as someone who hasn't visited London very often before I was surprised by how much of it was green space! The ride looked lovely and quite varied! Well done to you guys.
I loved the mild tension generated by the “will they make it on their batteries?” question. Perhaps up your battery game with some of Grin Technologies equipment for real time battery monitoring. Good chance he’d enjoy a chance to collaborate with a chap like you. There must be thousands of people like me wondering about the practicality of ebike and cargobike touring. More Harry More! Your destiny e-waits you!
Just having a look a Grin, lots of exciting upgrades there, even regen braking! It's making me think perhaps we need to build some Capital ring machines for extra long distance and easy cycle barrier capabilities.

Well done guys! As a visitor to London, I always look to the green spaces. It was lovely to see some that I had been to, and many that I had not. The nooks & crannies make me long to come back...spring 2024 cannot come fast enough. Great video and story telling Harry!!! :>
Richard deserves a trophy for the ingenuity on the DIY front loading electric cargo bike built from recycled bike frames. People in my city happily spend $10,500 dollars on imported electric front loaders just to occasionally tool around in it with their kids. Someone with no money or home could potentially build one out of scrap and use it as a shelter. Such inspirational. So inspiration.
Nice to see some non goodwin adventures. They're really great, but i liked your earlier stuff too. The boat foam extraction is still one of my favourites.
Cool to see the Tate and Lyle sugar factory pointed out! My grandad worked for Tate and Lyle and worked on the recipe to stop their golden syrup from crystallising, dad said as a kid he’d come home with little pots of golden syrup to watch and see if they crystallised
Amazing, what a great job, In my mind he must have been chief scientist syrup taster. We actually past the other side of the factory in an early Goodwin video on the Thames and you can see and smell the craning in of the sugar.
Lots of great places still to do for us, you missed a (few) bits, horsenden hill is great. Any link for the great audio on the vid? Maybe being a tent when you try the LOOP!
Ah yes, went down the path to Horsenden hill but a big gate we couldn't get either bike through. The London loop would be great, maybe we need the bike camper for that one.
It's such a shame that so much of London's cycling infrastructure seems to be spoiled by a need to stop its misuse. Not just London I suppose... Enjoying the video though, especially as somebody who doesn't know London that well. Quite relaxing watching you both zooming along.
It's probably scooters and the NEDs using the for their mischiev that were a factor in putting up all these barriers, if it was a concern for cars a single pole would do. If Police were to primarily hunt them on beefed up Sur-Ron's or Zeros instead of doing most of the policing with big clunky cars maybe those could be replaced with more cargo bike friendly modal filters.
Hmm I can't help feel a lot of those bike blocks are for cycles not motor bikes. You can clearly see no cycle and 'cyclists dismount' signs which were ignored...
Inspiring video! I recently tried a similar route in my local area-though mine was just under 22 miles long. Still, it was a fantastic way to discover some places I’d never explored before
so epic! dont envy your saddle soreness but do envy the awesome trip. is really hard to plan ebike routes as all the speed/distance references are to cars or pure pedal power. must get a camera for my own bike :D
Great video my friend but only one correction. That was not Crystal Palace Football ground you pointed out. It was the sport centre inside Crystal Palace park.
Having been brought up in South London it was great to see it all again. One correction in Crystal Palace Park, you said it was the football club (They play at Selhurst Park, South Norwood), it was in fact the National sports centre. Home of many athletic National and European events, and also the aquatic centre.
That was Crystal Palace Athletics stadium,(not football) part of the national sports centre, adjacent to the park, the road around both also played host to motorsports events in the 60s & 70s I believe. Anyway great as always Harry love your style and adventures now get down the east coast in Goodwin as soon and as safely as you can
@harrydwyer nah see how many pedants like me point it out, I must have spent half my young life there as a swimmer in the 80s and 90s, now no longer in London but you passed so many of my stomping grounds Wimbledon, Wandsworth, Richmond Park etc, you even went past where I used to work at the GU canal at GSK. Proper blasts from the past thank you.
Reluctant to be the first to comment (you tube tells me there are 4 but i cant see them) but it seems the style of the circumnavigation ports across to e-bikes rather seamlessly. Nice to see an e-cargo bike in action too!
What a fantastic hours viewing. Well done to you both...just one thing..that wasnt Crystal Palace's football ground inCrystal Palace park...it was actually the old National Sports stadium. Thoroughly enjoyed this 🙂
Would love to see you pair the boating and e-cycling - plenty of forest tracks and paths that you could embark on long touring cycles. Especially up here in Scotland; check out the Pictish Way for example. Maybe not take the cargo bike though! :D

Circumnavigation seems to be your favourite word, Harry. Love it! Can't wait for your next launch, though. 👍 Edit: Great format, I stayed with you the whole way. Timelapse?
@@harrydwyerfrom what I could see on marine traffic you've made it round Scotland just south of Edinburgh before the winter which should be enough footage for a couple of episodes before next years season.
Fantastic project. But as a Dutchman, I can't believe how poor the cycling infrastructure in London is. All those zig zags and almost impassable narrow gates
Same reaction here. Cargobikes (not just the realitively narrow long johns but mostly the Christiania type 3wheeled box-in-the-front ones) are getting more and more. They are bicycles legally and deserve infra which allows to be used with them. Compared to our Mauerradweg (going around former West-Berlin along the former Wall) or the Anillo Verde Ciclista going round Madrid which can be challenging in some of the northern parts this round London seemed like a lot of fun but far from an established route which requires Komoot or importing a gpx track. I'm sure this is not representative of biking infra in London in general as those routes would primarily go into and around the center. But even if partially used for making bike trips along the fringes of the city a proper route should be doable (not sure which legislative bodies would need to be involved to accomplish this and weather this complicates things).
Yes, the main cycle routes in London are a lot more forgiving. It seemed to be these paths in South London were particularly bad with very old barriers in place. The North London section was actually pretty OK and might be doable with a 3 wheeler.
Also until recently you could cycle through the Woolwich tunnel under the Thames at off peak times. But now you're not allowed to, even though half the user have bikes and cycle them through.
