  • adyashanti.org - When we fail to recognize the depth of our true nature, it can wreak havoc on our lives. Adyashanti reveals to us how we can acknowledge and listen to ‘the divine within’ in a surrendered way, inviting and allowing our depth to come forth.
Excerpted from September 9, 2020 Online Course, “Facets of Unity”:
    bit.ly/3rkDIdt
    Quotes from this Video:
“If all we're doing is telling the divine what we want, what we want to happen, it means we're not really listening.”
“When your own depth makes it known that it wants your attention, there are consequences to not acknowledging it.”
“Our true nature is not playing around. It’s playing for keeps. The consequences are high.”
“In the end, we're all held accountable to our own depth.”

Much love. Don’t ignore your true depth. It’s not what you think it is. It’s really much easier to follow your true nature than not. It’s the natural way of living. A minute or two of practicing or noticing can help bring you back to your true nature. Hint: you've never really left.

I can not agree more. After awakening i kinda kept living the same egoic livestyle i ever did. just more happy and content. So life gave me a fuckin bad accident which almost killed me but also showed me what is important for my deeper self. Now i know that this past suffering was grace because ist transformed my Life in the Most beautiful way.

I have had so many instances where my higher self gave me signs which made me drop things that I was about to do. My higher self has always guided me even when I had no idea what was going to happen. Here I am today assisting humanity in ascending. I am just where I am supposed to be. Everything that has happened in my life especially all bad things has got me here .❤️

I appreciate the references to Carl Jung. It helps put some puzzle pieces together. How could we not have a complex psyche; at least just as complex as our bodies. But neither compares to consciousness. Hearing about the interactions between our ego and our Depth is helpful and maybe sobering. Thank you Adyashanti. 🙏🏻

This is so true, the more we ignore our intuition the more we basically torture ourselves. The ego can play as many games as long as it wants, the shortest cut to the chase is to listen to the initiative nudgeds. It is no coincidence that cancer and mental illness is rampant in society today with increased pressure felt in our lives - mostly self-imposed. All diseases - mental or physical are the precipitation of suppressed emotions. Period.
The heart is crying to be heard in each of us and we are not being kind to it. If only, we could let the EGO ...Go.

Thank you Adya, this is a very important message. We all too often toy with Truth not getting its radical, radical life or death nature. It's bringing me to my knees in deeper and deeper suicidal depression. It's time to get real. It's time to stop running, and instead turn and open to the inner earth-shattering energies that are seemingly devouring me. It's time to die before I die.
    Thank you.

It’s our own calling. Our ego keeps getting challenged and crushed, until we stop having any beliefs or thoughts that enhance our ego, our real self is trying to claim more of us, to become bigger part of us, limiting ego only to basic bodily functions and a little bit of conceptual thinking of the brain that we need to survive in our careers and life in general so that our physical life can be supported. Our life is a booklet that we are writing our exam on. We must keep writing it to be able to graduate to the next grade, next level of some kind where we have more trust and more confidence in our knowing. Beyond that I have no idea what’s gonna happen. A guess is ultimately becoming one with nothingness of all there is or being one with everythingness of nothing there is, they essentially mean the same thing.

I have a LOT of respect for Adya. His courage, commitment, reverance for the truth. His heart.
But after all these years, I find it a bit difficult to see value in his teaching. I'm open to being totally wrong, but it feels his prespective hasn't evolved. Now, obviously I don't necessarilly need to resonate with the teaching. But there was a time where I was so convinced his way of cutting to the bone marrow of things..........was, quite frankly, one of the highest prespectives a person on this planet could have.................
Back then, I was gungho on "awakening"....and it actually led me to a kundalini gone wrong........that almost exploded my body. I had to stop all things meditation.......and in many ways go back to more "ego"...just to ground myself in this reality. Of course I don't blame Adya for that or anything.............but that leftover sense of the Eastern traditions....that we are almost in spiritual warfare with........the culture or ourselves almost...and that call for an almost warrior-liek zeal around this topic.......it seems counterproductive at times.
My point being...........how would all of us be served if we alligned with what Adya seems to be offering? I quite frankly get a bit depressed listening to Adya these days lol..............I know he's a great person.......that much is obvious........a very loving being..............and you know, that has a tremendous value to me. At the end of the day, that is the most key component for me......on any path.
But..........I wonder how many teachers spun this "ego" narrative for a bit too long past it's experation date. I look around me, and I'm not so sure this idea of "ego" helped us in any way. It always felt forced to me to see things in terms of ego VS Self. Totally unnatural.............untruthful even.
What if we started this spiritual thing AAAALLL over? We reviewed all concepts and assumptions? What if we strived to communicate it to someone with no awarenes of any of these common concepts like ego, self etc............how would we communicate things and WHAT would we communicate, and with what intention?
I think many well intended spiritual teachers........ran with limited views on life............and took them to extremes....and forgot, in the meantime, to question what the PURPOSE of life really is. Obviously Adya is (or was)following his hearts impulse............but doesn't this sound a little bit depressing? Yes, we live in a profane world that is very fed up. But where is the joy? Where is the space for "living your dreams"? Where is the space for creativity? Why must we generate this sense of an ego that needs attending to even? Aren't we actually seperating ourselves from life ina way by doing so?
I dunno........I dunno if I'm able to articulate what I mean. But life is MORE than this. Much more. And so is the truth. And the path to the truth SHOULD be more positive and mroe colorful. I feel it deeply inside of me. I think our heart of hearts embraces a much more life-affirming....and even ego-affirmin (in some ways) way of going about things.

reminds me of one of my favorite Nietzsche passages:
"This tyrant in us wreaks horrible revenge for every attempt we make to dodge or escape it, for every premature resignation, for every acceptance of equality with those among whom we do not belong, for every activity, however respectable, which distracts us from our main cause-indeed, for every virtue which would protect us from the hardness of our inmost responsibility. Every time, sickness is the response, when we want to doubt our right to our task, when we begin to make things easier for ourselves in any way. It is the easing of our burden which we must atone most harshly. And if we want to return to health afterward, we have no choice: we must assume a heavier burden than we ever carried before"
would love to hear Adya's take on Nietzsche for sure: I was always puzzled by him. the way I see him is that he seems to've transcended the confines of his conditioning all right but not of his mind?

There are so many SOOO many young people that are feeling this true self (basically its pain) and are seriously being presented with the decision to step away from the institution and grow or not, now more than ever it seems so prominent but then again this is the only time period this body has been here for... Like America seriously is strait up dealing with this, and why wouldn't the rest of the world be... Joining a religion or not if you're not listening to your true self you know deep down, and it's undeniable, so it doesn't matter if there's something like false concepts or whatever the true self is still there talking to them regardless... Brainwashing is powerful stuff. Even if one feels pain, most don’t know what that pain is and chalk it up to being part of life instead of “stepping away”. Even people who are non-dualistic practitioners have a hard time contextualize pain, I certainly am confused. What pain are we talking about? And what is one supposed to do with it? Specifically, I saw an interview in which you said that “it should be checked in from time to time that you are not too spaced out,” and now my mind being my mind is constantly checking during the meditation to make sure I am not “spaced out”. However, I find this has stopped me from falling completely into my consciousness. It has a different drive than "i need, belive i or must to do this". It literally in a sense physically feels deeper and it happens by itself. I find in my expirience that when i am still and this deepening happens, it is noticable how mind literally is trying to poke trough this and make some belif or opinion about it. Very distinguable. Once you recognise it, it becomes very obvious and with trust (which indeed sometimes can be difficult, but that's just mind conditioned reaction about it) you can abide in it as it. If you are feeling pain and uncomfortable but not truly sitting with it means you are not listening to your true self. Like taking drugs, overeating watching porn, etc to sensation seek aka deny the attention the true self needs which manifests as pain and suffering. So true self needs you and it cries out with pain and suffering and is showing you where it hurts, this trama that trama this limiting view of self and so on, but many freaks out the moment the true self starts to cry out and instantly run away into coping mechanisms which only serve to impede the healing process/acceptance fo the true self and thus the pain increases and increase until you finally come home to who you really are. And the flight from the true self is so severe in most they never actually let it tell them what's wrong, could be quite an easy fix. And this is all again just how it is set up for you to realize who and what you really are to a certain degree. As much as the ego wants to smoke weed the true self really wants to BE ITSELF and ultimately that is a blissful state of sobriety. So the going to smoke weed is a denying of the true self-a blissful sober state for example another way to understand it. So why would someone be smoking? because the true self is saying hey I hurt here and there and here if we want to go into the blissful state you gatta help me out here and cover up my booboos with your love! it hurtts! and again we already talked about how people can tend to react to this. Or at least this is how I used to react to it and likely still do here and there but almost always correct it with mindfulness instantly.
