So many times... His voice took me straight to the eye of the hurricane, then escorted me back out, so naturally, in awareness and wisdom. So many hours spent listening and letting things fall into place within... Until it's time to leave and... just live. For me, today, when i see or hear Adya, it's like a deep flashback of a loving parent - even if we never actually met. Thank you Adya, for your light that shines so bright and so far.
Thank you, Adya, for your clear explorations of reality, life, self, love, devotion, and exploration that life seems to ask of us if we dont get in the way. Thank you! Dear teacher, dear person, dear one who has continually walked ahead to open a path of love and beauty.
Once tasted. Awareness of the simple beingness. never leaves. People think life is about going somewhere doing something. There is nothing to be done. beingness is simple when it is realised.
Sam Harris, Richard Lang and Adyashanti best explain everything for our egos. Because for consciousness there is nothing to explain, there is only a potential, only a pure being, where ego, emotion, thoughts, light, sound, smell and everything else just showing up. And it's amazing.
One evening, several years ago, I had the most briefest of glimpses into this mystery of no - self. It would have been a millisecond of a glimpse. And yet in that brief moment, all the ideas that I normally carry around about who I am, that which creates a kind of normal sense of self...it fell away. I was left with a nothingness. It was empty... Empty space. Nothing was there to inform me. "Oh! So now I know this is possible." It didn't change me. It, (the experience), gave me new information; showed me a new possibility. I like that. ) I like Adyashanti because he brings things down to earth without needlessly putting our existential experiences in the proverbial "spiritual" basket. Life is a mystery. Truth is elusive.
The "self" is simply just another thought, a concept, a mental model similar to "transportation," "education," "nutrition," etcetera. These mental constructs are connected to one another. No need for a spirit, a soul, or a ghost that is floating around inside us. Just neurons and synapses and neurotransmitters that create memories. Yes, still a mystery for science to research and explain. "Awareness," and "consciousness" are likewise ideas that are stored in the brain. It all seems magical until it can be explained.
Annatta can be interpreted as “not self”. Similar to “neti, neti in Advaita Vedanta. Not self says no experience is self. When asked if there was a self , the Buddha refrained to give a definitive answer, but he assert that there is the unborn
Look within.. but who’s looking? I always find this “look within yourself,” vague. Am I looking with imagination? Am I just sitting with a quiet mind waiting for something to reveal itself? Can someone enlighten me? 😊
The point of no self, as I’ve understood it, is that there no independent entity that exists called Self. Dependant arising and principle of Interbeing show us that we exist only as an extension of history and a myriad of events, materials and consciousnesses coalesced into our current form. A physical and mental formation that exists in symphony with, to varying degrees, Others, Earth and the entire universe; hence Self is a mental construct, not a reality that can be found.
Wrong - because when you get enlightened you will discover you are infinite and everything really is within you; you contain it all. You find the Self is universal, not personal. There is only one Self, omnipresent, which we all share in. I know this from constant experience . But then there is the incarnated biological personality which feels to be real, but itself never gets enlightened; it is just a vehicle of experience.
You have to remember this You that voice in your head. has no say in it whatsoever. What happens. happens by it's self. Trying to make things happen. you are simply getting in your own way.
1.5x 🙌 but this one wasn’t for me I was looking for the meat in this one couldn’t find it but I’ll be back hopefully when I can understand 😅🙏 I leave it for others 👍
Thank you Adyashanti for years of wisdom, generosity and authenticity!

9:30: me and Self.
Self is behind Me. When Me is dreaming Self is source of dreams.

No cause we don’t have a clue either. and therein lies the truth.

Sometimes I wish I was all ego again instead of this wavering between ego and who I really am. This feels like torture.

We exist as a thought in our mind don't take yourself too seriously it's all an illusion
