in the live setting, I definitely agree. There's something magical about Neil/Tim together on the albums but they always seemed a bit too polite together or something on stage. Paul is a strong singer in his own right and brought a lot more energy

Agree, Neil and Tim’s voices can be a bit similar live and blend a bit too much.
Because Neil and Paul have distinctive voices from one another it can make it sound more complete
