Won't deny, this is one of those songs that every time you listen to it, it brings a tear to the eye. A time when music made you think about its meaning and it was easy to listen to. That's not to say that a lot of modern music doesn't do that - just that songs like this are immortal. Tomorrow, the next day or in a hundred million days' time, these songs will live on. 30th anniversary of album release: 1st July 1991, Woodface, the third studio album by Australian band Crowded House. The album was a major hit in Australia and New Zealand as well as giving the band their first top ten hit album in the UK. The best song in the album, and one of the most memorable songs of my university days, is surely this, released as a single February 1992.
I would have been twenty one when the album was released. The song I came across at the end of the BBC programme 40 years of the Weather Forecast, which was made two years later.
Walking 'round the room singin' Stormy Weather At Fifty Seven Mount Pleasant Street Well it's the same room But everything's different You can fight the sleep But not the dream [Verse 2] Things ain't cookin' in my kitchen Strange affliction wash over me Julius Caesar And the Roman Empire Couldn't conquer the blue sky [Verse 3] Well, there's a small boat made of china It's going nowhere on the mantlepiece Well, do I lie like a lounge-room lizard Or do I sing like a bird released? [Chorus] Everywhere you go Always take the weather with you Everywhere you go Always take the weather Everywhere you go You always take the weather with you Everywhere you go Always take the weather The weather with you

If Busted are anything to go by, when we're living underwater in the year 3000, we'll still be listening to things like this; even though, ironically, underwater the only weather is wet
Crowded house book-ended the years I recall as the best and the happiest, this never gets old!
Proper childhood song. Love it!
The song is bittersweet yet upon reflection it has a strong feeling of love. Indeed it is 30 years old and remains a timeless masterpiece from Crowded House.
You can find the dream hee.
monke
This song has been playing in my head for the last few days, I just had to find on RUclips. Childhood memories ❤!
This song is so catchy and is faultless beauty to the ears! Growing up as a teenager 30 years ago I’m so lucky to have heard this for the first time and it still sounds as amazing today as it did back then 🎶🎶🎶
If it wasn’t for this band, I would’ve never heard of New Zealand.
Well put. Crowded House were a great band and I'm glad they were part of my youth. I saw them many times live.
Neil Finn is a great NZ icon! We're so lucky as kiwis to have him!
he's australian, mate
@@richardtriance5207 He is from New Zealand.
@richardtriance5207 the rest of the band are aussie but Neil is from nz
Listening to this song in Iniscrone, Co. Clare, Ireland, looking out at the Atlantic. A short, sweet holiday with our daughters - dogs and paddle boards in tow. This beautiful song so chimes with the vibe. I've always loved it. Now it's forever linked with Swim Summer 2024... 3:47
Isnt that co sligo 🙄
The guitar's riff some how reminding me of The Byrds or CSNY. Wonderful.
Never, ever tire of this song and that guitar sound.
Is your English teacher missing English weather ?
Miss Mystic Falls fucking idiot lol

frank Bensley calm down mate i made that when i was a kid
me either love the sounds it s almost about the weather the whole song
This is one of my favorite songs ever. I've loved it since I was a kid 😊. To me, that guitar intro is like watching the sunrise on a Sunday morning, while there's a smell of baked toast and coffee in the air 🌄🍞☕.
57th Mount Pleasant Stream is not a temporal place but when your heart is fixed, you know it is the Spirit of Grace who writes the lyrics and gives breath to the songster(s). It is always a free bird that sings sweetest in the darkest of times because his soul loves and knows the One who liberated and inspired his gift. God's poetry inspires and amazes men in all generations. If you are captivated and uplifted by it, praise God and ascribed glory to that One Great King of Love, . . . .Yeshua❤
I was one of the luckiest to be at CH concert in Auckland last weekend!❤️❤️❤️❤️🎸we had the best time 🌹🌺☺️☺️☺️🥰🥰🥰🥰👏👏👏👏👏👏 💃 dancing 🕺 🕺💃🕺💃🌹💃
Well that's my daily dose of music history.
I would have been twenty one when the album was released. The song I came across at the end of the BBC programme 40 years of the Weather Forecast, which was made two years later.
Walking 'round the room singin' Stormy Weather
At Fifty Seven Mount Pleasant Street
Well it's the same room
But everything's different
You can fight the sleep
But not the dream
[Verse 2]
Things ain't cookin' in my kitchen
Strange affliction wash over me
Julius Caesar
And the Roman Empire
Couldn't conquer the blue sky
[Verse 3]
Well, there's a small boat made of china
It's going nowhere on the mantlepiece
Well, do I lie like a lounge-room lizard
Or do I sing like a bird released?
[Chorus]
Everywhere you go
Always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go
Always take the weather
Everywhere you go
You always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go
Always take the weather
The weather with you
❤
Everywhere you go...always take Crowded House with youuuu! Best Band Ever! xx
Bella canzone e interpretazione Crowded House 🎶👍🎻 Grazie per la condivisione e l'incredibile video🙏 Un meritato applauso 👋 Complimenti !! A presto 🇮🇹✔️🤗
This song is dedicated to my grandfather who passed away in February he would always sing this song and say it was one of the best there is
I dedicate this song to my parrot, Dave, who used to swear at visitors just to entertain himself. Wherever you are now, Dave, this one's for you, mate.
If you are watching this classic in 2024, then just remember, you have got this and that you are a Legend❗☺💯
The are legends not I ❤
These were great days
So excited they are coming to New Zealand in March next year 2021 🤘🏽
Ahahaha
No you are
It´s absolutely devastating - and says a lot about the current state of the world - to find this GORGEOUS tune has only ca. 9 mil. views...?!?!?! Kudos to Crowded House for addressing climate and environmental issues through pop culture back in the days those weren´t as "fashionable" as they are now.
This is not a song about climate change or the environment. We've been listening to the same propaganda for decades anyway, it's been fashionable for just as long.
@@Woo_Woo_Woman If you mean they never explicitly referred to it - you´re absolutely correct. However, allusions to human detrimental impacts on the environment are there.... for those who want to listen.
Absolutely love the guitar work in this song. In some parts, it sound like it echos.
If you are in your fifties and your are in 2024 hearing this song, be happy, you belong to the best generation ever with the best music, wandering around all the time and without the shitty social media.
I was born in a zoo haha but l live best seaside Town in English Coast line yeah 👍😁😸
Just stop with his nostalgia crap! Quality music is not unique to any era. Besides, your parents and grandparents said the same thing, and criticized you for having a walkman.
Amen to that!
just right

Beautiful song with much personal meaning 💕🌈
What ist this sing about?
Loving this song July 2024❤... reminds me of good vibes- wherever you are, any time or place.
Whenever I‘m overthinking things or struggling I‘m listening to this song. Music is the best therapist 👍
I was born in 1840 and my dad used to play this on his banjoy when we was prospectin' for gold in California. I had this on CD but lost it in one of the fires that Sherman set in the south during the civil war :-(
I felt absolutely nostalgic n emotional... miss those days 😢 good music, these kinda songs aren't made these days
I never want this song to end
Same except I wanna listen to the rest of the Enz/CH/Finn catalog too 😃❤️😘♾️🕉️🔥🖖❤️
100% Agree!
This song reminds me of my mum she loved this song . She died in 2014 when I hear it I think of her
Dankeschön für die Musik. Rio und Sarah
His voice is one of the most underrated ever i love it 😍😍😍😍
Reds 101 That new found artist of Kanye’s(lol) Paul Macartney called him one of the best songwriters of our time, agree completely on the voice too though. He can uplift me with this song as well as be solemn like in four seasons in one day.
Who has ever underated Neil Finn,?
Amazing voice and range
New fan of Crowded House. LOVE!
Forgot how much I loved this song.
Hello Sabrina, how are you doing?
I still keep coming back to this song, it never gets old for me this songs tied to many happy times for me
Good evening from England 🏴 😊
Absolutnie cudowne , odkrywam was na nowo .
Dziękuję za muzykę - gra w mojej duszy
This tune always cheers me up. Sadly this kind of songs are not released today.
I was in kibbutz in Israel when this song came out, and all the volunteers couldn't stop singing this song .
Great times and memories 😊
A masterpiece. I was fortunate enough to see them live in South Africa. Twice. Outstanding.
I sat in my prison cell in 1991-92-1993 ON REMAND IN H.M.P BELFAST, "The Crum" ... listening to this song. Now that I'm free, it brings back so many memories to me. I was alone in the Cell for weeks and I was "getting it tight" depressed at times but I always cheered up when this song came on my wee MW RADIO 📻.
THANK YOU, CROWDED HOUSE 💙💙😁😁🙏🙏🇬🇧☘️
Hope you are ok and well. What were you in prison for?
Hope you are ok and well. What were you in prison for?
This song came out when I was 8 years old and I loved it. My dad did too and it encouraged him to buy the Woodface album. Still glad he did to this day. A lot of people can't name another Crowded House song. They did plenty of good songs and are criminally overlooked. I will always appreciate good music and how this song got me into Crowded House.
reading this changes everything for me. How exciting. The fact that you were 8 makes me appreciate crowded house more.
Remember listening to this in Skopje, Macedonia in the 90s, great times.
Remember this song hearing it somewhere in Greece in April 1992, managed to escape bad war news, narcisstic lunatics in power and their spineless ass lickers,, army draft papers, fucking nationalism, hate, paranoia, fake news, I always have nostalgic feeling for this song...
I went to college in Mt Pleasant Michigan in the early 80s so every time I hear this song, it takes back to good times and college memories. This is a great track! Thanks for the memories CH!
That guitar riff is so Dammm fine😍😍😍😍
Andrew CruseTV It sounds almost like a song by The Creation, it just needs flinging and phasing. This could've been a great psych record.
Simple but very effective guitar riff.
More Australian than Rusty and the Pav mate!
@@strange5253 well thats apart from the fact of two kiwis and two yanks in the band lol
Pure flames
Love Crowded house! 🙌😍🎶
I always feel my mood lighten when listening to this song. Crowded House really has an outstanding catalog of music.
Neil Finn, talented as a young man in 1980s, and still singing at his best. RIP Paul Hester.
This song just reminds me of my childhood. Thanks dad for influencing my good music taste ❤
I used to do this bizarre Dj gig in Penrith in the north of England for a few years in tbe late 80’s. This was always a sunny optimistic treat to play. ❤️
This song always cheers me up when am feeling down.
that makes the two of us
Makes 3 :)
+4 :) hope all is well
+5 ;)
+ 6 :) the strange thing is i woke up to an earworm of this and was happy :) beautiful feeling!
What a wonderful song !
Melody, guitar, voices : everything's great.
Amazing humble band... that we have so much to be grateful to for the music.
Still a banger, one of my favourite tracks for when I’m going on holiday. Neil Finn is very underrated songwriter
Classic song. I always liked this song, Nice musical instrument work. So uplifting and positive, such a free Soul beat. Nice video as well.
It's tracks like this that cheer me up and remind me just how good life was.
Was being the word there, I’m struggling to use the present tense lately too haha
Makes me happy when I listen this. The best music was made in the 80s and 90s.
This is honestly my favourite song ever. I loved it in 1992 and still to this day nothing has surpassed this song. My fave that will will take me to the grave!!!!
Wonderful song. I used to sing it with my fifth- and sixth-form English classes here in Germany, bringing my 12-string GUILD guitar as accompaniment and some percussion instruments for the kids to use. They will never forget, just as I won‘t.
My favourite band as a teenager :-). Thank you for an amazing Finn concert back in the day. I had tickets also for a CH concert, but sadly never made it as I was in hospital for my chronic pain condition. I was devastated. Love 🧡 and light ✨ from the UK 🇬🇧 to an incredible acoustic band 🎸
What a song, and what a band!
One of the most underrated bands ever
Only an Nz/Aus band can have the lyrics "I lie like a lounge room lizard"
Very nice stuff. These Ozzies Knew their Music and still do! Go Neil Finn.
New Zealand.
Such an incredible song. Deserves more appreciation for sure
The first and third verses have stuck with me for life, up there with “where have you gone joe dimaggio” i get shivers everytime i hear them.
Thank You Crowded House for this Beatifull Song
Things ain’t cookin’ in my kitchen, strange affliction wash over me 🎶
Fantastic band. Brings back memories of my little boy when he was a baby.
Born 1993 and still this song brings happiness
It made us all...Newzealanders and Oz's alike....stand up and take stock...we thought our favourite drummer was happy......but then he took his own life....this family clip, makes me smile, laugh and cry.....Paul thankyou for you and your music!
This song has followed me around for over 25 years....😎 It turns up at the right time.. 👍👌🧡 Summer 2021🌴
