Here is a question for my older followers (students). While my core base is still the elementary level, what if the channel started to grow up a little?
Least insane American educator! Yo teach, is it true that Murican high schoolers read at the level of fourth graders? If so what do you think has to be done to fix this growing illiteracy epidemic in the US? I'm actually interested, things are quite good here in the EU, we hear a lot about the US you're like a testing ground and the EU regulates around all your bad decisions, sooo I've got a ton of curiosity! Also good luck not getting fired since your educational system hates teachers that have RUclips channels for some reasons! Keep doing whatcha doing, you're a real inspiration! 🤩👍
Wow, Thank you for your compliments. Okay, here it goes... High Schoolers reading way below grade level is problem all over the United States. There are several factors that causes this such as their home life, access to materials, the constant state testing which is not needed, not having enough teachers and the fact that education needs to evolve. The students of today are different and education is taking a while to catch up. Not to say that traditional methods are wrong and can't be used but if you go back 100 years, its really not much different from today.
I was an american highschooler recently yep sucks, pls fix - had to learn from google despite the fact that most of my teachers were brilliant, talented and passionate :D
School isn't just about learning. Its about social interaction, how to function in society, critical thinking, how to respond to successes and failure, etc.
