So glad I found this because I'm trying to do a square this way with HDC, but the only other "C2C" pattern I found that WASN'T the box had 2 HDC in the first st and 2 HDC in the last stitch which was causing my square to become narrow instead of a 90 degree angle. 3 HDC in the last stitch fixed it!
Thank you so much for this video! I was doing a cardigan that had C2C doublecrochet decreases in it and I didn't even know what C2C was when I started and my cardigan didn't turn out exactly as expected following the pattern so I have been trying to figure out why... your video helped me realize that I was actually crocheting the next row's first stitch into the previous row's last decrease. I know what to do differently now so that the next time I work on this cardigan I can fix it.
Thanks so much Mikey! I have been able to make 5 baby blankets this year using this pattern you taught me here!! I appreciate the great instructions and I love your videos!
Mikey - I LOVE this pattern! I have found that if I make a pair of two increases and then join them together I get the perfect square! TA DA! YAAY! PLEASE do not take this video down! It's GOOD! Your video and your crochet diagram (@ 4:25) are WAY more helpful and easier to follow than the written pattern! Thank you for everything you do for us! Your videos are the best! Happy New Year!! :)
Thank you so much Mikey. I haven't tried this yet but at least I can understand visually. You explain your tutorials so well. I never get a headache listening to you & trying to figure out what you mean. You're great!! Keep up the good work. Keep the tutorials coming!
I love how this is so much easier than the first C2C I learned and almost want to undo my whole project to do it this way since it is less of a hassle. Thanks for making this video!
I am very bad at following video tutorials. I like written patterns and diagrams. This video has all of them together. Best of all the way you explain key parts and what can go wrong. It's almost like teaching from someone one to one.
Thank you for this beautiful crochet design and all the instructions for a square and rectangle shawl. Could you please have another video for the rectangle shawl?
This is great instruction for corner to corner crochet, and thanks for adding in the charts and for the great decreasing instructions! I love this way of crocheting, it gives the blanket such a nice look, and now I can make a rectangle!
First! That diagram was exactly what I needed. It helped to understand rectangles. I couldn't deal with everything being square. It just isn't natural. Lol.
I just completed my first c2c afghan. It was rectangular & though it turned out fine it was confusing to make because I wasn't given a mental image of the process beforehand. Thank you for showing us the process on paper and explaining the details up front. Very helpful.
For those of you questioning the shape of your work; this pattern always looks like it's getting wider or "fanning out" during the project. If you follow the pattern, increasing and decreasing as it's written, it will come out either square or rectangular when you're done. Try it with cotton yarn and make some dishcloths for practice. They're very practical and you will get a real feel for C2C. :-)
Yes, mine is still fanning, so I only increased at the start of the row and not at the end. I think fanning occurs depending on the thickness of yarn and size of crochet hook. I using a pretty thick yarn and size M hook. That’s why I love crochet…one can adjust anything and on the “fly.”
Mickey. Can you add the diagrams including the stitch diagram to the web page for the pattern so we can print them? It would be very helpful. Thank you. Love the pattern.
I made this (dishcloth first then an afghan)and something went wrong when I started the decrease. I finished it but it is wider on one side of the decrease and looks wonkey.... it is not square. I watched the video multiple times to see if I was missing anything but I did exactly what the pattern called for. I'm thinking i'll frog it back to the last line of increase and decrease by more stitches....hoping that works!
I love this pattern, I am half way done with a 40x40 baby blanket. BUT I am having a horrible time trying to understand how to decrease now!! Mikey can you please help me! The video is too fast for me to understand the decrease for a square blanket.
Hi Mikey, does this method use less yarn than the traditional c2c? I am trying to make blankets for my local Head Start. Someone gave me some Lion Brand Hometown USA Fargo. I love the colors, but I have a few skeins. The local craft stores does not have that kind of yarn.
Mikey, I have two questions... No.1: Would you consider instructing us on which way to turn our work, toward us or away from us? And does it matter? I do notice that the yarn lies differently depending on which one you use .... And No. 2: Would you consider giving us a count of how many stitches we should have in the first one through four rows? Maybe after you complete each row? .... It would really be helpful to know how many stitches we should have in each row. Thanks very much!
Turn the project so the yarn strand is starting from the back side. I'm really not sure it makes a difference but that's the way I do it. If you are consistent, I don't think it matters I will have to edit the pattern to include the stitch count. Each row increases by a set number each time. That's something I will need to add to my to do list. :D
Ive thought this as well, it really depends on the crocheter and thier tension and yarn and hook type used. I guess the only way to find out is to make up a 4 inch square swatch of each C2C and pull it put and measrure the yarn used or weigh it to find out which uses more!
I love the look of this blanket so far but it is looking warped, have followed the tutorial to the T but just not sure why it's looking so warped.......please let me know if it does this or am I doing something wrong
Lori Wernigk I had the same trouble with mine, too, when I crocheted thru both top loops. Then I tried working thru the back loop only, like the photo on the pattern, and that is so much better!!👍🏻
I have a question Mikey, don't know if you will reply to me, but I am really liking this stitch but I am wondering if it would work with the Bernet blanket yarn?
Question, I have made this blanket and so has a friend of mine and both of ours turned out uneven at the end of the blanket - the blanket looks warped, the end is wider than the beginning. We both feel as though we followed the tutorial correctly. Do you have any insight as to why this happened?
Mine also looks warped! A lot of work for the way it turned out. I was hoping the border would help stablize the shape of the blanket. Please someone tell us what to do!
The lady made a rainboe quilt and strted with a diamond and when she had thr dimond made she just kept crocheting a diffetent color ech time as it got bigger and when sje was done she hd one big diamond queen size blanket with rainbow colprs
Look at the suggestions at ravelry. The pattern does not turn out correctly as written. Several ways to make it square, probably the easiest is to ignore the turning chain on your increasing side of the rectangle. I am trying just doing 2 double crochets at the end of the increasing rows and the beginning of the next row as you turn.
The link for the written pattern goes to the C2C Top Down Shawl Pattern--not even the same stitch. I've done a C2C with DC before, but wanted a refresher. Not sure why you would dump such a popular pattern. Video instructions without a written pattern just don't work for me.
I meant to remove this video. That is for the reminder. I took down pattern as people were upset about it. I will remove it tomorrow so it’s a non issue. Sorry fir the trouble.
i just started my blanket maybe 14 rows in and its already starting to look like its going out on the sides... im thinking of taking it out and trying to do only 2 dc on the ends but i dont want it to then not grow... ( im also changing colour every 2 rows so its definitely a concern if I have to unravel everything. Help!
Steph Thompson It is difficult to diagnose your problem without seeing your project, but I think the width-to-height proportion of your stitches is too great. When this happened to me, I changed to a larger crochet hook size and the added height of the resulting stitches gave me the right proportions. Hope this works for you, too!
In the video description there is a link. Click it and it takes you there. All of my videos work the same way as it's impossible to do a clickable link right on main screen as YT has changed it's technology over the years.
Mine is seriously skewed. The decreasing side is much smaller and a different angle than the increasing. I'm so disappointed as this was going to be a gift...
This tutorial is confusing to me for two reasons, number one is that he's talking too fast, number two is that the yarn he's using is fuzzy and it makes it hard to see the stitches clearly.
I'm fixing to try it with 2 instead of 3 for the increase to see if that works. edit: nope, gonna try alternating 2 and 3. edit 2: nope, I must have my tension wrong, or the hook size, the edges are straight with the alternating, but the inside is buckling.
I think you should be reprimanded for calling this a corner to corner, it seems like name theft to me. Takes the name of one of the greatest stitches and turns it into an upgraded " V stitch".
WC Platt. As Mikey said C2C is also known as on the bias or diagonal. It can be done with many stitches including the Granny stitch double crochet moss stitch and what you are calling a c2c is a Box stitch. It's probably best to educate yourself before you criticize a crochet expert and make a fool of yourself
You are a real teacher.

Love this version of the c2c! I found that chaining 2 instead of 3 at the beginning of each row leaves smaller gaps!
I use chain 2 as well
Thanks so much Mikey! I have been able to make 5 baby blankets this year using this pattern you taught me here!! I appreciate the great instructions and I love your videos!
Thanks Mikey, this is now my favorite stitch for a quick afghan or spread. I always enjoy your tutorials.💜🧶
I just completed my first blanket

Thanks a lot just finding this types of pattern
First! That diagram was exactly what I needed. It helped to understand rectangles. I couldn't deal with everything being square. It just isn't natural. Lol.
Thank you for doing this one. I now prefer it to the other C2C.
I am struggling on how to do a border around it though. Any help appreciated. X

Thank you for taking the time to pattern reading with us. It helps. A lot.

Are you sure??? I am afraid to continue. It lt is fanning
.
The dishcloth idea was brilliant. I made 3 of them before I stopped and started my blanket. THANK YOU for the idea!
This is exactly what I did for practice prior to the real thing on all my new patterns! I make dish cloths or dish towels then I make the blankets!

Thank You for making this video. I have been looking for days for a pattern for a baby blanket. :D
Love this thank you and mine turned out great!
MANY THANKS, ALWAYS BEAUTIFULL AND BEST DESCRIPTION.
Very much💜💕💜
Would this pattern also will work with c2c single crochet? I’m looking for c2c single crochet pattern.
Thank you so much.
question can you only put in 2 doubles in the end and will it come out right or do you have to do 3 o the ends
I made this (dishcloth first then an afghan)and something went wrong when I started the decrease. I finished it but it is wider on one side of the decrease and looks wonkey.... it is not square. Is there a left handed tutorial for this please? Thanks
I’m sorry. I don’t think I did this one in left hand editing format. I’m sorry
Does this only work with double crochet stitches or can you do it with half double crochets or single crochets?
Hi Mikey, does this method use less yarn than the traditional c2c? I am trying to make blankets for my local Head Start. Someone gave me some Lion Brand Hometown USA Fargo. I love the colors, but I have a few skeins. The local craft stores does not have that kind of yarn.

Probably so. Just give it a try.
which is easier and less yarn this dc c2c or a standard c2c?

i liked so much
but the hols looks bad.can we do some thing about it
I have a question Mikey, don't know if you will reply to me, but I am really liking this stitch but I am wondering if it would work with the Bernet blanket yarn?
Yeah it should. 8 mm or L Hook size with bernat blanket. :D Mikey
How are the c2c stitched together as squares?
Ok about how many increase rows do I need to make a twin size blanket? I looked on google but really didn't get an answer
Measure it against the bed. Increase til desired size.
nice c2c
hi mike can this work with graphgans? I'm making one but if I use the box c2c method the afghan is way too big.
Mine too!
Question, I have made this blanket and so has a friend of mine and both of ours turned out uneven at the end of the blanket - the blanket looks warped, the end is wider than the beginning. We both feel as though we followed the tutorial correctly. Do you have any insight as to why this happened?
So did mine!!! Tried and re tried exactly as it showed and it still comes out un even!!! I didn't have no problem with the box C2C!
Help! Mine is coming out more like bag wings rather than a strait 90 degree angle. 😢
texasofmyheart I
mine is just looking like a big fan and the fan keeps growing, but have no idea what i'm doing wrong??
You have to do a better tutorial on this .... Mine looks uneven OMG! Help!!!
The link takes me to a c2c top down shawl pattern instead of this afghan
I hope you will answer my question shortly. I have noticed that some people have been waiting a year or more with no apparent reply from you ....
I receive 1000's of messages a day... Is there something specific I can help you with?
Mine also looks warped! A lot of work for the way it turned out. I was hoping the border would help stablize the shape of the blanket. Please someone tell us what to do!
Vauna Palmer if you “block” the blanket when you are done it will be the shape and size it is supposed to be.
Does nyone know how she did it. It didn't have holes at ech point.
Love your work. Could you tell me is there a C2C using the Shell sttch
Not as far as I know... I'm not sure it can be done. Michael
This green pattern is NO where to be found!! I really want it and the Chart!! MIkeyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
kaberle7 I found it, hope you still need it. www.yarnspirations.com/bernat-daisy-blanket/BRC0202-008398M.html

What happened to the pattern

I'm really sorry for sending you into confusion.
You failed to explain the middle stitch in row 3 grrrr
I'm sorry.
this pattern does not come out as a sqaure more like a fan. Not very helpful is answering questions as I am not the only one.

Nope! .. I won't be using.... This method defeats the beautiful textures that A traditional C2C gives.

Sorry you feel that was. Corner to Corner is a concept not a stitch. Corner to corner is known as the Bias.
