I've been fingerspelling out English words I am looking at and I can literally tell I have an improvement on fingerspelling speed and fluency. However, we need more fingerspelling receptive exercises to practise reading them. These videos are really helpful in learning the language, keep up the work!
I am very slow with them, I had to rewind and catch the letters for the uncommon fruits like passionfruit, kumquat etc., otherwise it was fun. It feels like I have learned something in two months.
I just taught myself the ASL alphabet today then immediately came here to practice my speed in finger spelling. Seeing the letters out of alphabetical order made me realize how much practice I need to do but by my 3rd rewind, I am catching letters at fast speeds. After playing each word twice, I got all 10 correct! I’m so proud of myself ❤
I’m an ASL 1 student through Gallaudet University’s ASL Connect program (I wouldn’t have signed up without your channel!!). I’m happy to say I got all of these right 😄
More of these, please! After watching so many of your episodes, I'm pretty sure I could express a general need, or indicate a basic understanding, to a deaf person (which is why I love the bonus content at the end of each of your lessons - I press pause when you give an example of a phrase or statement, then try to sign how I think it would be done, then check your correct version. And I don't do too bad, if-I-say-so-myself). But I need MUCH more experience trying to interpret sign. I watch people on TV and movies, having a conversation or translating, and I'm generally lucky if I get the gist or basic topics. It's useful (and a bit of fun) watching sign, and trying to interpret it. As always, loved the video!
I got it all! Thanks Meredith for giving the signers the quiz of fruits. I hope that the signers are doing well with their quiz. Have a very pleasant week, Meredith! 😊
Oh my god I got them all right! I have been practicing fingerspelling everyday lately and I can literally see the improvement I got on either spelling the words or reading what other people is spelling. Usually, I practice by spelling out random english words that I think of
I missed your hand movement on the double ‘s’ in passion fruit the first few times but finally got it. Thankyou for making this video, it is exactly what I need to practice with.
I realize I really need to understand how to read the letter g It seems like every time I try and do any type of reading of signs whenever somebody does a g I get totally stumped and then I feel like I don't know anything else. Thank you so much these are so great
OMG this is definitely amazing and so helpful😍 I had to rewind few times but I got them all right! Thank you for this useful video❤ You're an awesome teacher🤟
This is SO HELPFUL to identify the letters I'm struggling with. Thank you! Also realized I don't know how to spell Papaya and Kumquat correctly so I'm learning that too hahah
I got 4 out of 10 😨.. love these finger spelling ones..I really need to practice..I can do the whole alphabet but have to do it over again to get the letters
I don't know if you take video ideas, but could you signs related to mental health? Like if depression and sad have different signs or anxiety and therapist
I did good but could not get the last two. 😂 I finger spelled all the words then rewatched the video and was able to finally see the last two words. For some reason my brain cells shut down for the last two.
SCORE I GET? 💯 I noticed that you started with short words, progressed to longer words, and spelled the longest words near the end. It is a great way to lengthen viewers attention span and build confidence. I seriously think you consider all this before you make videos.
I got the last to wrong I spelt kumquat as rumquat and passionfruit as pasinfruit however I'm proud of this considering i've only been learning for less than 24hrs.
I would appreciate more of these. Didn't realize how slow I am until I tried this test. Thank you for putting this out for us.
Me toooo😂😂😂😂
Kumquat??? 😮 Got the word after so many tries…then, I googled it to see how it looked like. Never heard of it before!
Loved this practice. Thank you!
