Until I started watching your RUclips Channel and those of A Slob Comes Clean, the Minimal Mom, Diana Kokku, to name a few, I lived under the LIE of "I just need to get my stuff organized". NO NO NO!!! You can not organize something when there's no room for anything. I'm so grateful to you and to the other decluttering ladies for helping me and so many others finally HAVE A LIFE!!!! Note: We are far from being decluttered in my home, but we have made a lot of progress. There's still a lot more that needs to go, but we will get there.
In the past 4 months I have donated over 10 boxes of items and clothes. I still have a way to go but it’s so motivating to feel lighter. I managed to reorganize my nightstand, dresser and junk drawer.
Pictures: In pioneer days if you had a photo of yourself at age one, a wedding photo, and maybe a 50-year anniversary photo, your life had been documented. In my day, it was a roll of film per event. Now a days, its 1000's of photos of everything! That is totally crazy.
So I’ve been decluttering for years and am still messy. It really is a thing 😂😂😂 I’m doing 5 min pick ups to try to minimize my mess. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 I have to make myself walk in the door and put my stuff away or the next thing I know it’s taking over the place. Also have to deal with papers every day or they get out of control as well.
Still you might just be a little “untidy” or think in a diff way. I still think you don’t have to take the “I’m just messy” rap tho. Also sometimes it could be that however things are set up just don’t suit your personality. Well Imo anyways. I think all of us won’t “work a system” that just doesn’t work for us and then it will seem like we are just “hopelessly messy. “
@@goodenoughgirl8102 I mean untidy and messy are pretty much the same thing to me. I don’t even think of it as a bad thing or with a bad connotation. I’m not talking to myself in a negative way. I just know I have to stay on top of it every day or I go right back into old habits. If I don’t stay on top of it my whole house will be a mess in a couple weeks even though most rooms are highly simplified. My main issues are my bathroom, my den and my kitchen. Those I have to stay on top of daily or else.
@@dianasimplifies Lol. I’m so glad you’re not hating on yourself for something like that. I just think we all have diff styles really and we might all do better to just embrace and accept who and how we are wired. I wouldn’t care ya know. When I go see a friend, I don’t go to look at the house. I go to enjoy their company. 😅😅 Plus also depends what we have on our plates. Some folks have a lot of kids or pets and even with massive decluttering and constant cleaning, some days just don’t seem like we are “nailing it” so well, but considering how big the challenges are at times, to me that’s a huge factor. (Or various other issues like health struggles, caretaker situations, and so on). For me I just consider myself lucky if the “have to” stuff (like stinky garbage or nasty cat boxes or dishes etc) isn’t piled up to kingdom come and if I didn’t actually procrastinate the entire day. 😂😂 Some days tho. It really is like “everyone’s still alive” so whew I made it through the day. Lol.
I bought a new rice colander two days ago after ours finally gave up after 18 years. So exciting to have something new in our minimalist kitchen, we use everything until it falls apart!
I completely relate. I used to be something of a shopaholic, but overcame it several years ago. Now I get such satisfaction out of actually wearing something out, like good for me for actually getting my full value out of a single item instead of buying multiples of the same thing that just hog up space.
Thanks for reiterating the tip about taking a picture of those sentimental items that no longer serve you.....every time I look at the pictures it puts a smile on my face! That stuff was the hardest for me to declutter ...P.S...save the pics to your SD card or cloud, etc. so you don’t lose them...lol..I had that happen once too! Thanks for all the motivation to take my house (and my peace) back! 😊
OMG I feel you on losing the photos. I set my phone to automatically back every photo up to Amazon Photo now (free unlimited storage with my Amazon Prime subscription). That way even when my phone bricks on me (which has happened a few time), all my photos are still safe.
Once a month I go through phone photos delete the crap and put the keepers on a labelled USB stick, very helpful, then I can decide later which few I want to print for my kids
My daughter aged 14 told me "If I am not being remember that item, that means it is not important" (no need to be in my life). So she owns little stuff.
I like even better, "have you had the OPPORTUNITY to wear it in the last year?" It is really helpful...if you HAVE but have passed over it for another item you like more, get rid of it. If you HAVEN'T had the opportunity, likely you won't, and you get again, get rid of it!
"If you keep it long enough, you will store it and forget about it." SO TRUE!

Whew that's amazing!!! 18 years!
I get unreasonably happy every time I see that Ravenclaw mug! 😍
Haha that's awesome!! We are trying to plan a trip to Harry Potter World this Fall!
So incredibly helpful ❤

Love this. All this is true

Ughhh it was SO SAD!!!!
I need to go through my photos and declutter! 💕
It's something I forget to do often!
Me too! 👍
This one is sooo good! These really get to the core of why we do this. Thanks!
I'm so happy this was helpful!!!
Another great video!! I'm so very happy. You would be proud of me!! My husband says ty as well
Information wise, I think this is my favourite video that you've ever done. Spot on!
I'm so happy this was helpful!
Such an eye opening!
Your smile is contagious
You're so kind! Thank you!
Thank you. This is so helpful to me ❤
Wich lipstick do you wear? It looks beautiful on you. ❤

I love the last myth, very true
It's something I don't think we really think about...but it is SO TRUE!
You are so beautiful I've been following you for many years! I'm still not a minimalist, but I donated and threw away a lot of useless things
Thank you for supporting me for so long!!! And that's great that you were able to declutter some things...it's so freeing!
東西在地下室放70年就是後代來斷捨離~~
❤👍🏼
My daughter aged 14 told me "If I am not being remember that item, that means it is not important" (no need to be in my life).
So she owns little stuff.
Declutter a sentimental item by taking a picture is creating another digital clutter.😂
I get stuck on the "have you worn it in the past year" question. We have different experiences at different times.
I like even better, "have you had the OPPORTUNITY to wear it in the last year?" It is really helpful...if you HAVE but have passed over it for another item you like more, get rid of it. If you HAVEN'T had the opportunity, likely you won't, and you get again, get rid of it!
What if we do use the things we have is that still clutter
If you use it, It's NOT clutter!!
As I'm asking myself what I could donate, I think, it's all mostly junk lol. My clutter isn't donatable lol. My basement is the land of misfit toys😅
Just recycle what you can't donate!
