Thanks guys! Had the small travel duffle from Clegg, sold it on. Incredibly well made with gorgeous leather yet in hand it looked like an oversized purse and that wasn’t the look I was going for. I ended up with two other bags that I switch back and forth, both in super heavyweight canvas, one from San Fernando Valley and the other from Sailsmith
Nice bag review. Will the medium size fit a 15.6" laptop that is about 14" wide? Only thing I don't really like is the felt material for the shoulder strap and inside laptop compartment. The blue felt kind of looks weird to me. Plus, there is no back pocket is there?
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the HIDUPZ leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
Can’t beat a good French work coat or a French post bag, both picked up during a school of Art exchange in reality gifted by a lovely French lady with a kindly sarcastic wit as sharp as the opinel she kept in her boot and a heart as warm as the tip of one of her Gauloises she would flick at you if you annoyed her as you attempted you break through both the shield of thick smoke and cantankerous attitude with yer love sick puppy eyes. If yer out there Gwen I miss you and hope you lived well and your designs flourished
I like the looks of the Eclair bag, but it'd be a toss up between it and the Satchel & Page Mailbag with the latter looking better made IMHO (especially the 2 main rivets)
Good quality bags, but I still give Filson the edge on quality and design choices. Bleu de chauffe make some really weird design choices (some of their bag straps have felt extend past the leather for some reason, it's a really ugly design choice). My louis satchel bag had a shoulder strap which was unusable it was was simply too short. No adult one could use these shoulder straps because it looked ridiculous it was an armpit bag(maybe they've fixed this I'm not sure). I actually had to take out the rivets and attach a filson strap so I could use the bag. The short straps were also a problem on my roll top back pack as well, it seemed like an after thought. Good things: The leather is really beautiful and the colours are very rich. Very well made bags (finishing is excellent). However, I don't think Filson and Bleu de chauffe customers cross shop each other ( or even should) because they don't have same rugged use case or design language. From what I've seen Bleu de chaffe have improved some of their design choices I just think their designs are sometimes work in progress and shouldn't be considering their price.
Guys, I have 2 questions . 1) In the video, i see one of you with this French bag hanging from the shoulder. I guess that's the most common way to use it. But, is it possible to use it croossbody? 2) Does the bag have magnetic closures? I am askjng because I don't like them. Thanks!!!! ❤
As someone that has had a few issues with an item - I have a word of warning on Blue de Chauffe. I purchased their medium fisherman musette bag in black leather in December 2022. A rivet on the inside broke in January. Despite communication with them and a promise to mail me some new rivets (which I would then need to reaffix myself - they suggested finding a leather maker in my area), they never sent the rivets. Subsequently the shoulder strap came away from the bag. This bag has a fatal flaw where the shoulder straps are held on by a single stitch (one on each side of the bag). I sent pictures of the flaw and they agreed to examine the bag - but I would need to pay to ship it to them and (more importantly) they might just ship a replacement. I told them of the poor design relying on one stitch to support the shoulder strap, but they would not agree to fix the flaw. I don't think the customer should have to pay return shipping when the item failed - and they're able to provide photo documentation of the failure. I also question their bag designs when this bag has such an obvious fatal flaw that they've failed to fix (they're still selling this same design currently). An additional word on the black leather: it feels like a veg tan, but since it's struck through it's tough for me to tell for sure. Either way, they sand the surface and have a cross hatch pattern applied to it - so it's not unfinished and I would personally steer clear of their black leather.
Nick, did you share the process of waxing your suede chelsea boots from last year? I can't find an article or video on that. Could we get an update on how that turned out and how it's holding up?
Lovely bag! I’ve been looking at Bleu de Chauffe for a while, but one of the things that does keep me away is the strap connection placement. I’ve had bags with the connections at the back and I’ve found that can make the back flop over and wear funny on your body or when you pick it up depending on the weight distribution of the items inside it, it can cause the back to tip over and dump its contents. The other big thing that gets me is that when you’re wearing the bag and open it, the straps keep you from folding the flap back, so you constantly have to hold it up while rummaging through your bag. Also, I’ve had rear connections fail after a couple years of daily use; I’m sure this bag is made of better stuff than the ones I’ve had fail from when I was just starting out in my career, but it gives me pause. I’ve got a lot of Saddleback pieces and the strap attachment location on the sides is impeccable. I’ve been weighing Bleu de Chauffe against Cravar, though, and I think I’m leaning to a Cravar FC15 in blue. But, if you don’t routinely carry lots of stuff in your bag, the Blue de Chauffe is still a great choice.
after a few years with my Cravar Rana series I am extremely happy with it. Bleu de Chauffe was a big contender for me aswell, but the amazing customer service of Cravar and the design won me over. I am surprised when they said the leather of Bleu was better. In my opinion they are very comparable, if not I like Cravars more
When english speakers mispronounce french, theres always frenchmen complaining and correcting. When the french butcher english words though, they’re all like oui oui its just an accent 😂
Bleu de chauffe is what you call chore jacket 😂😂 i am french...bleu is blue cause they were usu1lly blue like the blue collars the hand workers dont prionounce the u in chauffe and the à like an o. bleu de choffe au eau and o are pronounced the same bye guys et voilà !!! 😂😂😂😂
Cool review! Christine also made my Bleu de Chauffe Eclair bag!! Awesome brand!

That's the problem I have with the Clegg gear as well. Their pieces are a bit too polished. They do look a bit too feminine for my taste.

OMG!! This Bleu de Chauffe bag is FIRE! So obsessed with the leather and all the cool details.
Nice looking bag. I do prefer some type of zipper or liner in a leather bag.
How durable is the Hobo Travel Bag compared to say Frank Clegg/Lottuf travel bags?

@@Stridewise Can't believe I missed this one. Thanks!!
Par contre les bleus de travail en Moleskine de chez Saint Michel sont plus qualitatifs, de peu mais les finitions sont mieux faîtes.

My man was laughing at that French pronunciation. Bon Dieu. 😅
Salutatiion de France. Oui nous pouvons dire que c est de meme niveau que Filson. Encore merci.
Also lovely bag

On prononce bleu de choooofe
En fait j'ai habité en France et je sais très bien comment le prononcer, mais je ne voulais pas avoir l'air prétentieux
No freshman was harmed from the mispronounciation French words
Ui ui, made in france?

Forget pronouncing French words - it was weird how you pronounced Hobo.
I mean I'm Australian. hoerboer
I confirm... both of you butchered the French language. ;-)
i did it on purpose, i have a french degree that i underemphasized in this video hahah i thought i'd just let mike take the lead
LOL That's not how to pronounce it at all. Bleude Chauffe= BL-UH duh SHOFF
I know, I have a French degree I just thought it'd be douchey to correct him
@@Stridewise Tu parles Français ? Incroyable ! Bravo alors. Un bonjour de Paris.

Before you start filming, Google “How to pronounce ‘Bleu de Chauffe’” and at least you can keep people from cringing. It’s takes maybe 30 seconds.
