    Great episode!
    excerpts
NREM sleep is for physical rejuvenation (1st half of sleep), and REM sleep is for mental rejuvenation (2nd half of sleep).
How to improve your REM sleep?
    1. Relax the muscle around your brainstem
    2. Get your breathing balanced
    3. Adjust your blanket (not too hot or cold)
    4. Increase acetylcholine (vitamin B1/nutritional yeast)
    5. Reduce stress - this is the biggest barrier to sleep

REM sleep impacts so much more than what people realize. REM is absolutely crucial.

Great topic. As a matter of fact, we're in a bad sleep epidemic.
I've heard that vitamin D level in blood is pivotal, and there's an other important factor of sleep: vitamin B5 from our gut bacteria families.
Healthy Sun exposure (no sunburnt) and healthy gut.
Panthotenic acid, apple cider vinegar, organic egg-yolks, sunshine. Good to go. Good to sleep. :-)

    • @patientson
      @patientson 3 года назад

You're not in a terrible sleep epidemic; you just do not like the fact that you can be saved by not feeding the stress hormone when you wake in the morning, and you won't bath cold water, but you will likely pour that on a plant in the morning to stay green. When humans reject life for the food and medicine they created with their hands, the body won't let you rest.

Um, yes, you are right, of course. They took away our recess, whine our kids are fat and hyper, feed them sugar with a side of corn, and milk, and for good measure, a nice, frosted donut with sprinkles... And then wonder why we all have anemia, vitamin D deficiency, and we have a raging obesity crisis threatening national security. If we can get enough healthy young men to fill the ranks, they end up with a medical discharge from obesity and diabetes from a 4 year term of what should be honorable, but otherwise metabolical syndrome free service! We haven't even gotten into parenting issues, like not teaching kids to take a walk or strap on some rollerskates, or ride a bike.

Love the content and advice you provide here. As a massage therapist i know how much the neck muscles at the base of the scull get tight and have been finding massage in the upper portion of the neck in the evening while running the hot water over the neck really helps with calming the nervous system before bed. Also the temperature change from hot shower to getting cooler while laying in bed helps the body to relax.

I’m a really deep sleeper, so deep to the point where most of my dreams i remember to this day like a movie with lots of detail, i lucid dream. If im going to be honest the only things i do to sleep is make myself comfortable (obviously) and then i close my eyes but stay awake and day dream for a bit, i think about like a video game or a show or a movie as if im there (im still awake by the way) then after a while of doing that i end up falling into a deep sleep, im assuming its the day dreaming that causes the rem sleep. The reason i day dream before sleep is because i have anxiety, my mind goes wild at night and the best way to stop my thoughts is to organize them, to focus on a specific topic whether that being a movie, game or show (it can be what ever you like), just make sure its something that keeps your attention and before you know it youll be asleep and dreaming.

I heard Dr. Berg saying in the video that vitamin B1 helps with sleep and decided to try it. I took one last night and did not see much difference with my sleep but saw a huge difference with something else. As a person with high levels of anxiety, I did not wake up this morning with a nerve ball in my stomach and with worries. Even more, I felt calm all day and my anxiety did not return. And that is only after one pill of vitamin B1.

I don’t work and I don’t study, I just don’t have the strength and motivation. Maybe it's a mild version of narcolepsy or hypersomnia. Unfortunately, I do not have the means to undergo a polysomnography, and there are no medicines for these diseases in my country.

I use a CPAP (nose pillows) after a 2017 diagnosis of sleep apnea and it’s been the best remedy for regulated breathing during sleep since I no longer breathe through my mouth or snore. The negative is that I only get 5.5 - 6 hours maximum of sleep per night since I’m now getting better sleep. I’ve also had better sleep when I take Magnesium Citrate regularly.

Enough potassium, vitamin D3&k2, ect. also help with sleep quality.

First I balanced my body chemicals and then my sleep patterns returned to normal all of this after I began to recover from my PTSD.
