You got a leprechaun ( english instrumentalist not featured in this song), an elf (guitarist), a viking (bassplayer), a mad professor (keys - apparently he comes up with all of this epicness so he definately must have a few stitches loose in a good way) and a bad ass pirate (drummer). Add a 6 foot valkyrie - that went awall from Asgaard that still has Odin pissed off because he lost his number 1 entertainer in the hall of heroes - in the mix and you get Nightwish.
Nice combination.
Floor Jansen was sent by Odin to escort the fallen to Valhalla but decided that the easiest way to collect the fallen was to make everyone fall for her.

Well...Floor is a Valkyrie...but Odin was not the head of the Valkyries, that was Freyja. Because of this Freyja got to choose among the fallen wariors first. The best warriors was chosen for her and ended up in her hall Sessrúmnir. The ones that went to Valhall where the rowdy and the uncontrollable drunkards.
Wacken is a small village in northern Germany that is raided once a year in August by 80,000 metal heads.
The drumming by Jukka in this performance is incredible.

Hello! Nightwish Army incoming here, just found your reaction on our radar.. Since this is your first Nightwish experience, here are some info that may help you navigate (a short history of the band, concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just saw her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Floor sings whatever the hell she wants to sing
you may know this by now, but this song was almost an hour into their set. It boggles my mind that not only could SHE have so much power and energy that long into the concert, but the band as well! The range and versatility of her voice absolutely amazes me.
BTW, I am NOT a metal band fan, but this group blew me away! I just (about 2 weeks ago) heard of them.

Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every word; so, no pressure on her to Bury that (9 second long)high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie; and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. I love watching these reaction videos and my biggest hope is that people follow and enjoy the Symphonic Metal path I was led to. Welcome to it.

82.000 people saw Nightwish during this play at Wacken in 2013. Floor Jansen was just a couple of months with the Nightwish band and kicked ass dring the whole performance!

Floor had been with Nightwish for ten months at this point
Floor joined in September 2012.
Before then, per the documentary, she joined after the concert called the "Denver Debacle," where Elize Ryd (now Amaranthe) had to fill in as guest vocalist.
What the documentary doesn't say is this: The first time Tuomas called Floor, she was literally at her sister's wedding -- and also had just recovered from her burnout. It was another week before Floor accepted Tuomas' invitation, where she actually did learn 15 songs in 48 hours -- and even more while on tour.

@@MuzikClassOfficial for Troy singing check out My Walden at Tampere or the Carpenter from the new Decades dvd. The Carpenter is from the first album and was originally sung as a duet with Tuomas (keyboardist, composer and writer of Nightwish) but Tuomas can't sing very well so Troy does it instead. My Walden is from the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album, the first one with Floor.
You actually did some nice impressions. You are one of the better coaches. Nice observation, good tone matching (you have a nice voice yourself, btw.) and your explanations are understandable by "normal" people, too.

I don’t know much about singing but others have stated that her ability to switch between opera type to belt so quickly is not something a lot can do.
You are right! I follow Beth Roars and Veronica, who both are coaches.. and they say that some do sing different styles, but need to do it in 2 different shows. I believe that she knows her voice perfectly and knows exactly where to put it, valve closure etc.
Doing what floor is doing needs a lot of practice and hardwork

If you leave out the female singer, Blind Guardian... What Nightwish did in the mid 90s wasn't new. And even symphonic metal isn't new, it is a descendant of progressive rock. Just take a look at King Crimson or the early works of Alan Parsons.

Floor is great and in my top 5 female vocalists still active ( solo or with band).
I recently discovered an unheralded emotionally impactful female vocalist on RUclips that-like floor - ( sings solo or with band) opened the floodgates of my heart and I’m certain you and your subscribers
will love. She’s from the small Faroe island and when she gives a performance virtually the whole island of about 600 show up. She has an angelic voice so unique , so mystical , so magical, so entrancing so hauntingly beautiful that if you ( or your subscribers) react ( no one will recommend her so I hope you will react privately ) to the following live performances after which you will become a fan and want to subscribe to her website where she will inspire you with about 50 more songs ( a mixture of live, Audio, and MV’s )
Please RUclips the following live performances ( first 3 ( from her small island , one a chant in her native language and 2 in English) the last in front of thousands with full orchestra performing for the Queen of Denmark!!).

Eivor “ falling free” (the one that’s 6:47 duration. It’s on the island but inside I believe a restaurant seating capacity ( when the camera panned the audience) probably 300 lucky lucky souls to witnessed this beyond amazing performance. She put it on RUclips about 3 years ago and very few views and likes. If she performed it in America and there were 50,000 in attendance , all 50,000 would be screaming and yelling for a long time during and after the performance. It’s EPIC!!!!!
The strobe lightening, camera angles, her otherworldly vocal all combine to make this rendition epic and memorable. I’m 75 and a small time vocalist performing with my 98 year old landlady ( whose been a professional vocalist for 80 years) at local nursing homes, retirement venues etc here in Miami, Miami Beach.
My passion is to discover amazing vocalists that are basically overlooked by reactors and hopefully convince them to react ( privately or publicly) to the unheralded world class vocalist (s). Those that do are amazed! I’m absolutely convinced when you and your subscribers watch and listen to “ EIVOR” live performances ( the ones I recommended) you all will utter “ how on gods green earth was she overlooked?? “ “falling Free” “ and “ wake me up” are semi-symphonic ( more like symphonic hard rock )epic performances ( all you symphonic metal fans and floor fans will enjoy . )

If you want to here a different singing style of Floor listen to Your is a Empty Hope listen carefully you will be surprised. The video you watch she was pretty new to the group and thrown on tour and learned there songs on the plane their songs are long and difficult to sing so imagine that with her still singing like that at the end pure talent. She is the Valkier Goddess of Music .

The music is called symphonic metal and is very populair in Europe and South America. The band is from Finland and founded in 1996. So far the band has had 3 vocalists
1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005)
2 Anette Olzon (Schwedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012)
3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current). * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of.

The clip was shot a few months after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the world-tour a lot of what happened was recorded.
