Well the game was hard af later on. When u didnt had the a password for Robotnik than many people probably wouldnt have heard this epic theme at all. Personally I have many memories with Mean Bean Machine VS Mode on the Sonic Mega Collection for my GCN and I'm glad that they put the theme there!

In the original game Puyo Puyo for arcades, the final boss was Satan himself(he didn't have the horns or the pitchfork or was red, but he was literally called Satan and ruled over hell), and this was his theme. They changed it because they thought it would go well with how competitive 2.P. Mode was, how fitting its literally the theme of the under-world.

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is the best localization of Puyo Puyo. It does a great job at randomizing Puyo Puyo music in different places. Since Stage 13 has a different final boss theme, the Satan Boss/Final of Puyo Puyo song minus the intro was saved for 2-player battle. Since stages 9-12 have a different stage song, Stages 9-12 from the original game/Sticker of Puyo Puyo was saved for Exercise Mode. What they've could have done is have Theme of Puyo Puyo for Stages 1-8 be the only one that was kept from the original game, have the Password Song not have the other part cut out, use Theme of Puyo Puyo with different instrumentation for Stages 1-8 like the original game, change up Brave of Puyo Puyo a little bit with Trumpet replacing the Rock guitar, and have the character cast song be a remix of Stages 9-12 and the Title theme. Other than that, it's a great game.

This seems like it would fit an Ultimate Boss Rush level in a Mega Man game, where you would face every Robot Master, back-to-back, in one stage. Don't worry, you would have all the weapons and a fair amount of E-Tanks/W-Tanks so it wouldn't be so... sadistic.
Geoffrey Glenn Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 has something like that. The all robot rush, it’s called. You fight every robot master from Mega Man 1-6 (not in order). Dying simply starts the current fight over. It’s also really long. The Gold time for that is 50 minutes if I remember correctly. Trust me, it’s hard.

My sister doesn't play that many videogames, but I asked her to play Mean Bean on my PS2 and she agreed (because she'd played it on Mania before) and we had so much fun. In the end she beat me a bunch of times and kept asking to play again, to the point where I was too scared for another round. We tied 3-3 but if we'd gone in any longer I think she'd have won way more!
I played this game with my sister and mom back in the 90's. Got some friends into it too. It would be a legal nightmare to try and make a sequel with the Robotnik character due to the puyo pop/Ken penders stuff but man that would be nice.
