- One of the most curious mechanics that Lisa: The painful brings to the player is the random possibility to suffer certain events while resting at the outside, which can be positive, negative or neutral to Brad and his party. In this video I'll show you all this possible events, hope you like it!

A little thing that I forgot to add to the video was a third gift, that can be a fancy perfume (if I don't bad remember). Also, according to the wiki, there's a note that can appear in the rest area which says: "I love you", but that certain note never appeared to me in my case, so I guess I just have bad luck XD
Thank you for making this

You didn’t get it because they don’t love you
You can interact with that pile of gore at the end of the video. It’ll say something like “Is this…?” Implying your partner had a less than ideal end.
Jesus Christ....
@@RupertAndCheese No, it always happens.
No matter what, the pal will always be permanently dead.

Blue rocket: He looks mad!
Brad: on a tiny bicycle

I never knew that the gangs leave if you take too long, that's creepy attention to detail is something you only find in a lisa game. An often overlooked mechanic, too bad no other game other than joyful uses it.
Fear & Hunger has these moments, also made with rpg maker, unique mechanic rarely used in games
@@burger1800 literally the only place where i've heard fear & hunger being talked about and it was jst after i finished the game with the merc lol
@@thurapy684 glad nobody talks about it
I played the game and holly sht i can't sleep because of some scenes
@@burger1800 Fear & Hunger and Lisa: The Painful are the greatest RPGmaker games I've ever played.
@@laifamohammed3571Fear & Hunger? More like Fear, Hunger, Sexual Assault, Torture, Inprisonment, and, did I say Sexual Assault?
If you rest at the edge of Garbage Island and the fart guy shows up, he runs away and falls off the ledge. There’s a specific falling sprite for him and it’s so funny to think how Austin decided to make a very specific sprite that only a few will ever get to see.
I love how polite the thief that stole your magazines is. They don't even take all of them, just a couple.
5:33 when I got here I immediately said "we're not resting here"

i suddenly have a craving for wally burgers
It really is astounding how this game takes the most hated aspects of RPGs and flips them on their head, making everything matter. You can only grind currency at like 2-3 spots in the game I believe, so it's not easy to just stock up on a lot of healing items, making each one you find or use way more impactful. There are a fixed number of battles in the game (save for the aforementioned grinding spots), so each one has an excuse to be hard as nails and more meaningful when you win and level up. Because of the scarcity of items, "inns" become highly valuable, but the developer realized this and added the detriment of a random effect happening. It's all so clever.
This stuff and the threat of perma kill enemies is great design to not get stale ass battles like other “fighting” rpgs
i unironically think brad just kicking the shit outta creepy guy is funny.
He exploded
@@elgatochurroI prefer to believe Brad was scared shitless so bad he one-shotted him on autopilot.
@@imthecoolestguyalive I thought he was brought over to kill you because of the expressive
But that makes sense too
Fun fact if you the rest on Garbage Island is the only rest with a ledge on screen,So if you get the spiders, the farting guy, and maybe the creepy guy (I haven't seen him appear there yet) they will jump of the ledge in to the ocean. They will also use a gich and use a wrong sprite for jumping, the farting guy use I sprite that i think goes unused.
Wow, a really curious fact I never noticed 👀
That was surprisingly difficult to read
Gotta like how there's a spider that goes out of its way to poison you
I could have sworn there was one in the tent sleeping spot. where you wake up normally, exit the tent, only to find a psycho has bonked the friendly camper and then he knocks you out.
I had that happen too
That one is exclusive to the camping tent
You get -10 to your max SP and luck
When a game tells you that anything can happen is because "ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN".
i love this game. xD
I think the only safe resting spot in the game is that tent in Area 1. You'll get hit by a guy with a bat after resting there the second time, but after that it's free use. That is, until you get to Area 2 and the tent disappears.
I think every Inn is safe. There's one in Area 1 where the generator is and another in Area 2 before the football team. I don't know if I'm missing another one.
@@PayesX The EWC is good for area 3
The tent is safe.
All the inns are safe.
The resting spot just before Sweet Tea Rakeem is safe.
The EWC is safe.
And that’s it.
The inn with the creepy innkeeper and the Geese at the top is 100% safe. It only costs 10 mags too which is crazy because it's really close to the cave with infinite farmable enemies that give you 10 mags when you kill them.
Me and my Squad of 9 rugged post apocalyptic men have somehow never considered putting anyone on watch. Little goofy imo
Love all this stuff that makes Lisa so unique, would never see this in another RPG
The magic of Lisa!
LISA and Undertale are the only two battle rpgs that don’t get stale with the encounters
The creepy guy with the yellow teeth is called Mr. Fantastic and is playable in one of the fan games I think
I knew about that fan game but from what I saw on the files of the game I don't think he have an official name
The thank you dialogues for when you pay the ransom seem to be the same ones used during the buzzo encounter at the end of the first area.
Yep, that's right
Doesn't that means that everyone has those kind of lines then?
Crazy this was posted not even a day ago, Lisa fandom still going strong
I recently first encountered 2:26 in a call with my friends, neither of them were paying attention until i screamed out loud. I didn't expect it at all
This is why I always use the inn in area 2 or the wrestling tent when I rest
5:46
So you’re telling me a party member can just leave the game permanently? That sucks. Especially if you get the RNG and they all leave.
Fun fact: Terry is the only party member that can't leave you, it really shows how loyal it is
@@thevarikguy5224 Huh. Good to know. I never actually played the game before, I don’t know much.
This game is called The Painful. Some enemies do attacks that permanently murder your party members. Your team is going to take some hits, there will be blood.
It's also crazy that it's seemingly for no reason.
Not because you're low on supplies, did something they didn't agree with, are broke, ect.
They just don't align their time with yours anymore on account of RNG-
- me caen bien mis amigos
- me ayudan a sobrevivir
This simple feature's what makes the game great from other RPGs.
honestly i cannot thank you enough op because a while ago i was trying to find out what happens when you rest. you my man, are a lifesaver x)
Glad to know that :)
could've shown the baseball bat guy that appears in the "safe" campfire from the start of area 1
From one moment I consider it, but then I remembered that it's a unique event in that part of the game and this video shows the common events at sleeping. But thanks for mention it
To this day, the creep remains one of tge worst jumpscare I ever experienced in a videogame. Only maybe surpassed by opening the door to Mari in Omori...
You know what?
Since the game has a save mechanic that is not obligatory on the fireplace, i always saving my progress when i go to sleep,so if something happen, i can go back a redo the sleep
Yeah, its shitty, i lost soo many funny things that happen, but i was one of those persong that didn't use joy but because if was bad, is because i didn't know if was very useful
yeah, but when you have a limited amount of saving places (pain mode) you gotta watch it carefully when you wanna go to sleep
It's understandable, I remember I did that in my very first playthrough years ago to avoid all this bad things
@@awadi6596 True
What I did instead of savescumming, is using the Inn. Is pretty cheap, accesible and you never get anything bad from it
@@kimhellrose7357 That's exactly what I started to do in my recent playthroughs
Hey, nice editing on all of these videos, it's really nice.
Thanks!
when i played i kept getting the fart guy and spiders.
You missed the special interactions with party members as bucket and tiger head wich they also do things while you are sleeping, but still great video!
interesting what game developers come up with when they have a focus on creating a grueling game experience. I've never had much interest in playing LISA (or any other RPG in its genre) because i think a blind playthrough would be more annoying than anything and i'd never complete it. i have watched a lot of videos though, and pored over the wiki for a while, just because the developer obviously put a lot of effort in to make such a jarring game experience that breaks a lot of rules we take for granted.
Estoy jugando Lisa en modo Pain, Olan era mi favorito... Lamentablemente fue secuestrado y no logré rescatarlo :(
Nooooooooo

Omg what a stupid error of mine, thanks for correcting me 😅
Puedes interactuar con esa papilla del final del video, si lo haces te dirá algo parecido a: No puede ser el...
Dios....
What's with all the Lisa's in the purple area?
Joy hallucination/PTSD from Brad's past
That's the last campfire in the game, Brad is really close to losing it
Would those gang members kill your party member if you don't pay them ?
Yep, that's why I said to check out the "bosses video" of Lisa the painful if you want see their fights
Wasn't there option of choosing a party member to keep guard?
Or was it modded?
That is only possible on mods, in the original game everyone sleeps
Wait so what happens when there's an empty space? Does the party member die?
Poor Birdie
Is there spoilers in this?
Hmmmm, well, maybe the kidnapping by the gangs, but nothing else
If your comrade is kidnapped but there are empty place, does they disappear forever? Sorry for grammar mistakes, i'm bad it English.
Yes they disappear forever
Wasn't there a similar Lisa: The Painful game that used the same environment and such? And Brad too? Although with a different... "story."
Yeah, it also had sleeping mechanics, if I recall correctly the person who I watched play the game had spiders, a creepy man, and otherwise nothing happening.
Though, the story of the game itself involved LISA being the villain and having a toll on Brad's powers. Yes, that happens.
Also, your first recruit is a balloon.
Brad has a pain?
