He clung to the only person who had cared about him, but it ended up costing him his face due to someone else who blamed everyone but himself. Rando had used what he learned to be strong and help people after the flash, to help save whatever of humanity there was left to save. Yet after Brad had done so much, Rando still saw him as Master Armstrong

to me that line is kind of confusing so let me break it down and see if i’m correct. brad thinks he lost dusty and wanted to forget him, but he couldn’t because it hurt him. brad was hurt by dusty wanting to be like him so that’s why he kind of strayed from being his father figure because he didn’t want dusty to end up like he did. am i right??

Because he had no idea who Brad really was - a dead inside drug addict irrevocably traumatized by the abuse at the hands of his father and his failure to save his sister from said father. Brad's fear of Dustin's life turning out for the worst by his presence was confirmed the moment Buzzo broke into his Dojo and sawed Dustin's face off.

It's actually funny to consider, whether Rando or Brad wins here hardly actually matters. The only thing brad earns for his victory is a last moment with buddy and being turned into a monster after, Rando still lives and catches up with Buddy after.
If Buzzfuck hadn't doped Brad so hard in the 2nd area or had his shit emotionally stomped in by Buddy and his dad one last time, he probably would've recognized the voice or at least wondered why this guy knew who he was. I guess the lack of recognition helps enforce how far gone the poor bastard was by that point.
The difference in fire moves is awesome. Rando is more controlled, using Firecloak to get Warmth and protect himself, organized strikes and organized pyromancy. Brad is off his shits using himself as a canonball with his head slides and his pillar of fire blasting from his knubs. It just really shows the difference how Brad *failed* his style but Rando *perfected* it. S tier mod

In my opinion dustins fight against brad was waaaay more emotional and impactful than buddys ilusion fight against brad, to buddy he was just a washed up drug addict who adopted her , but for dustin he was his only father figure who he looked after, not only he had him as his father figure with the respect it holds of that title but he was also his master and seeing your father, and master being in such a horrible deplorable state while the fight is a contest of armstrong style vs armstrong style. depressing, deplorable, epic, frightening, heroic So many words fit this final encounter between father and son, master and disciple
Imagine if you had the option to either continue playing as Brad, or to play as Dustin once his army is down. That would be awesome considering Dustin survives regardless in the sequel
brad is a perplexing character. His motivation is to ambiguously protect Buddy, which comes from his previous perceived failure to protect his sister, Lisa. The world around brad & buddy, quite frankly, kind of warrants the protectiveness that brad enforces, but in the process of course denies buddy any sort of choice in the matter. Its weird. in short, I think brad's motivation... makes sense as a course of action to do, and I don't quite understand where buddy's resistance comes from aside from the nature of childlike rebellion that the desire to make your own choices, which i don't think would have carried her as far as it ended up doing.

They planted the idea she's vital to the world and that the world 'cares' about her (just obviously not for the reasons a little girl would think), which gave her a maaaad messiah complex. I think her resistance is understandable because she's completely ignorant of what men would do to her or how good she actually has it, given people's depravity in the game's setting. Frankly, I doubt Sticky went into as much detail about what would be expected of her as she implied when we first see her again in the 2nd area. I mean, she's what, eight? Ten? That'd be a hard conversation for any non-kid diddler to have with a little girl.
Brad is as good as you play him to be. You can make him an even bigger piece of shit than he already has been, or you can make him a guy who's genuinely trying his best to be a good person, and bring a little light to the dark world of Olathe, but ultimately fail because no amount of good deeds can fix all of his mental and emotional trauma.

That's, in my opinion, the moment, when Brad, from quiet introverted man, who still tried to help at least pass his family's legacy to the future, to a broken man, who couldn't feel empathy anymore and who lost what little faith he had. It's because of his failure to protect Lisa he was so overprotective of Buddy, to the point where he was willing to commit a genocide of people in Olathe, just for his second chance. "Let this cruel and wicked world, which gave me and my sister all the suffering we took, if it means that I will save and protect my daughter... My second chance... My redemption"

She was partially responsible for creating Buzzo, who drove Brad to insanity And in the end: Marty destroyed Lisa's and Brad's childhood Lisa created Buzzo, and suicide killed any resemblance of good in Brad, also dooming him to be punished by Buzzo in any way imaginable Brad scorched many places and parts of Olathe, such as Barrel Bros, workers at the construction, last blood tree, Rando's army, etc, and he was responsible in creating Buddy, who destroyed any semblance of order in East Olathe. Safe to say, this family scorched Olathe
