    This will be a great series, Lee! I just got down to 4.0, on the strength of a recent level-par round (one shot away from breaking 70 for the first time, which is this year's goal) and another couple of good rounds recently. Now, that's from the men's regular tees (very few 280-yard drives for me!) But those are the appropriate tees for my length on most courses here in the US. I've been focused recently on two things:
    1) Sticking with my pre-shot routine on every shot
    2) Picking very, very small targets - everywhere, but particularly off the tee. VERY small. Like, not just that tree, but that one branch that's sticking out a little on the right side of that tree.
    These two things help me to better visualize the shot I want to hit. And strike is better, for some reason. And my misses have gotten a lot smaller. When I'm swinging well, anyway! And the pre-shot routine keeps me calm and focused and in the present. Just my 2 cents! As others have said, you really don't need much in the way of advice, as your game is excellent and more importantly, you know your game. Keep 'em comin!

    Another good idea for a mini series, but on the stroke 15 tee shot, suddenly there’s a divot next to tee peg - what’s that all about?

    I share your Driver issues. The miss right if I don't close the face , used to make me aim down the middle, just in case. Gradually my shots started to draw on demand, so I was ending up left side/ rough/ trees.
    I gained confidence to aim right side and let it rip. I added lead tape ( 20 gm) to the heel side of my 12 degree Cleveland HB Launcher Turbo driver ( I am a senior golfer/ need loft to keep the ball in the air) as Tom Wishon advises. The other thing helped me was following Mike Melaska's advice in using a wrist flap to close the club face on time, not wrist/forearm roll. He also teaches a wrist flap for fading the drive too (with the Be Better Golf guy) It works!
    I have a 5W that I can draw reliably, so if the fairway is narrow I can use this as a tee shot and follow with a 7W second shot to make up for the lost distance ( it stops on greens)

    Don't know about breaking 80, but if you want to go scratch you can't keep leaving yourself +30ft to 2 putt, even tour pros are 50% from there. Imo, if you've got a wedge in your hand you should be going for the pin (within reason).

    The old adage, “If you are going to lay up, LAY UP”. Your tee shot on the 261 yard 4th was the wrong club. You hit a hybrid that is longer than you need, that has a tendency for you of going left. Better play was hitting a 7 iron that leaves you 80 or so in, a wedge from the fairway you can get some spin on.

    My thought is try and hit the fairway more often, you did a few vlogs on "finding a fairway finder", and you got lucky a couple of times leaving you shots to the greens. On other courses, like the one I play at, you wouldn't have got away with those shots

    • @LWG
      @LWG  3 года назад +1

      But on another course I may not have played those shots. Play the hole you have in front of you. 0 fairway and 1 under par. Being in play is what’s important. GIR over rules FIR

    OK got it.. so to break 80 I just need to drive 280y and hit wedge from 120y into every hole.
    Given my driver only goes 210yds seems like only way to break 80 is add another 70 yes to my drives.

      @@LWG OK. Its just that my HI is 9.0 and I dont have the GIR stats you have - I average about 30%, but i dont have the length off the tee you do so have longer irons/hybrids in. The comments you're making in the video are interesting and have given me something to think about - my driver isnt overly long (220/230yards) but is fairly accurate so Im usually hitting off the fairway (65% FIR).

    Dude you said "yip" twice and "miss" once just before a putt. It snuck in but never say that.
    If you must, say " tough to hole" but never ever miss.
    Ever!
