👋👋👋☺️, good afternoon Scotty.
Mazda has the best metallic red out there, just gorgeous.
i love MY red 3! Everybody compliments the color. Also, the exhaust note is pretty nice.
I just scored a 2021 with only 14,000 a CX-30 non turbo in that paint color it's sexy as hell. I was surprised by the color and how quick the non turbo was not to shabby. And I also meant to say that I got it for 20,000 cash in New York State that's pretty good and from a recognized Mazda dealer.
Indeed!
I just saw a candy apple red MX-5 this past week and you are not wrong. That thing sparkled in the sun,

It's called a Toyota, but it's a Mazda...
I call it my Japanese jumping bean 😊
Same here !great car !120 on highway too lol
Remember to replace your transmission fluid, it's not "lifetime fluid" lol
I thought only the sedan iA was a Mazda2, and that the hatchbacks were true Toyotas. I'll have to look into that.
I haven't seen that car on the road once
@@Rhandzekile I have. Precisely once!
Got a 2007 lexus is350 with 120k miles for 6k back in 2019 and still love it! My first car and not getting rid of it anytime soon xD
You just listed all of the reasons I bought a CX-5. Thanks, Scotty!
Me too, a 2021 Soul Red, no turbo. I love it and it's a dream to drive.
I think it's worth mentioning, Scotty likes Toyota and Scotty like cars built in Japan BUT IF it's a Toyota made in Japan he's seen those things with 350 - 400 thousand miles on them on them still on their original engine and transmission....they drive good, they shift good but they're not givin' 'em away!!!
Haha, love it!!!
Thank you Peter
They're making cars cheaper with all the electronics, but their prices keep going up!
Inflation is a thing.
they are cheap plastic crumple zones,, back in the days before 1980, the 50's 60's etc.. the guy with the smaller car was the crumple zone
I'm looking for a budget toyota but everything is high KM (used for uber or delivery) and they are priced at 15k..
I’m sick of all the garbage tech they keep trying to force down our throats. I don’t want any of it in my car and i refuse to buy this junk.

Any carbon build up issue since they only have direct injection ?
100,000 km is about 62k miles. even the shittiest of engines can reach 62k with no problems. it’s when you get to around 200,000 kms that separate the weak from the strong.
@10101437 we have 177k miles or 240k kmh on our Cx5 and no carbon build up issues runs good and little in repairs. One solid engine.

I wanna see Scotty use the beauty cover for a sled on the snow...
Scotty you’re a national treasure !
Toyota’s not gonna go bust while everyone else is having problems moving cars. Toyota is moving cars every day. They are actually selling and having no problems with inventory.
In Canada/Australia they’re having problems moving and inventory
Toyota is sitting on tons of inventory. Discounts of thousands rather than the up charges of thousands. It’s a good time to buy finally.
Lol..... toyotas qualityhas slipped....theyre recalling 660k cars and trucks....honda and mazda arent having issues moving cars...
I just wish GM, Ford, and Chrysler would just get outta auto manufacturing all together. Just have Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Subaru making vehicles. They could ramp out their production (and hopefully get better quality also).
I wish mazda would make trucks again
They sell utes here in Australia 🇦🇺. Called the BT50. It's a rebadged Isuzu Ute with Mazda interior and exterior styling changes. 3ltr turbo diesel. Diesel Ute's are the biggest selling vehicles in Australia 🇦🇺.
Love my B2600. Drove that thing 125,000 miles and then sold it to a friend that drove it at least the same before he sold it. Great vehicle.
I like trucking, I like trucking, I like trucking and I like to truck..
You mean rebadging Ford trucks still.

I have a CX5 Carbon Turbo. I know for the fact these things have issues with the front camera sensors.
In 2 scenerios I tend to always get a alert (which turns off my automatic lane/distance keeping assist)
1. Driving in a blizzard
2. Driving during the morning whenever the sun is just mostly fully crested over the horizon where it's blinding you through your windshield, if you're going up a 10% grade, your sensor will mess up.
Scotty, Glad to see snow in Tennessee. Take care a stay safe.
I agree with you on the Mexico thing. Both our Subarus, 2018 Crosstrek, 2022 Forester both made in Japan. Not that Subarus made in the states are bad…our 2011 outback went 255,000 and 11 years. I purchased these two cars specifically because they’re made in Japan.
I was in need of a vehicle after I got tired of fighting/fixing my old '06 Dodge Dakota, and found a '21 Crosstrek back in September. It's Made in Japan, and it had a manual transmission. I did my research and kinda goofed because I thought it wasn't GDI, but it is. Only thing about the car I don't like. It's the 2.0L too, but you couldn't get the manual with the 2.5L so whatever. It's fast enough for me
I say no on Subaru's because they don't have a temperature gauge. And they don't have gaskets so that's a definite no for me
Been a Toyota tech for 20 years now I agree with Scotty made in Japan always is better even at Toyota also the new cvt’s go bad all the time even new off the trailer there bad we replace allot more of them compared to the old mechanical trans they had allot less issues so sad also sad they got rid of the 2gr on so many vehicles that engine was bulletproof after they fixed the cam phasers and oil line problem they had at the beginning and made good power
What do you drive?
Love my 2GRFE in my 16 highlander. Is there a way to tell if my cam phasers and oil line should be replaced?
@@timothyhorine2570 If you visible part of your upper oil line that you can see at the same level of view as your top engine mount dogbone, then you're fine. If you see a rubber line - get it replaced! Cam Phasers I'm guessing is the VVT oil control valve which bolts into the head cover. This is a super easy and inexpensive swap and is very much a DIY job. I did mine after an engine code. Was incredibly easy.
FYI, I have a 2011 Camry V6 SE with 277K miles on it. Still running super strong.

Mazdas have always been good. From day 1 in Australia sometime in the 1960s. R100, 1500, Capella. All great.
Mazda has been getting better in North America these past couple of years. The biggest issue used to be paint and undercoating problems. I had a 2008 Mazda 3. Nice car but the paint around the rear fenders started to flake off and rust and rust started to form on the trunk two years after I bought it . The paint issues were common on Mazda in the 2000's and early 2010s. Apparently they were undercoat properly.
Drive a 2020 CX-9 40K miles and Zero issues so far. What a great handling large SUV 22mpg mixed driving 25-26 HWY if your gentle with the right foot. & the Soul Red is just gorgeous.
Thank you for addressing the issue of using the 0W-20 oil in these turbocharged engines that they are sadly being filled with at factory. I put 5w-30 in at the 500 mile mark on my new WRX once I learned the difference between the two oils and how important thicker oil in turbocharged engines is.
Lamo he called the subi manufacturers "swines". This is why I love Scotty
My 2011 Rav4 was built in Ontario, Canada. Sold brand new in Fargo ND, until it went to Atlas Auto in Grand Forks ND in April of 2021. Where I bought it. It's needed an alternator (original) and rear control arms (upper and lower) replaced after an accident (not my fault). Great winter vehicle, I run Hankook Kinergy ST tires year round, no issues. 17" tires.
There are lots of good car plants in North America. But they are dominated by Toyota, Honda and Subaru. It's those manufacturers that hire good engineers and a dedicated production workers. The Japanese plants in North America seem to have that. Ford, GM and Chrysler have been at war with their employees since at least the 1950s. But I agree with Scottie...maybe the Japanese productions lines produce better vehicles. The Cambridge Ontario Toyota plant you mentioned consistently is one of the top plants in North America.
I have multiple turbo cars. Our Ford Edge (2018 2.0L Ecoboost) is averaging 26.8 MPG , the Ford Ranger (2019, 2.3L Ecoboost) averages 24.8 MPG and our GMC Terrain (2021 1.5L Turbo) averages 30.0 MPG. All are combined city and highway averages. In my opinion, that is great mileage for vehicles of their size and capability. Certainly better than I got from similar naturally aspirated vehicles in the past, many of which had less power.
Lots of the non turbo motors 2.5 have CYLINDER DEACTIVATION would like some input and coverage on those
I like the front look on the Lexus. G , I agree with Scotty on that.
Great car there. I have a 19 Crosstrek Premium manual like you showed and mine's even black. I don't know why the guy's battery went down with the headlights left on. When you take the key out of the ignition, all lights shut off. My light switch is always on and has been since 2019 when I bought it. The guy must have left the key in the ignition when he got out of the car. I completely agree with you on the stupid electronic emergency brake. We also have a Legacy with that stupid electric ebrake and it takes me 5 minutes to figure out how to shut it off.
Hey Scotty, what do you think of aftermarket for steering rack? I need to get a new steering rack for my Acura RDX and I am debating if I should get aftermarket.
17:45 This story right here, about the guy not being able to get in his own car because of a dead battery, is exactly why I hate newer cars.
Love you scotty and what you do

1974 Cadillac Sedan DeVille 472 cu inch - 10 mpg. 2023 Mazda Whatever - 22 mpg. How much progress have we made?
@Scotty Kilmer Hi scotty. Whats the best and safest way to clean an older engine that previously leaked oil for a year?
My 6 year old Nissan was made in Mexico. Only problem so far has been a noisy rear wheel bearing that I replaced myself. The original bearing was made in India.
But 6 years old isnt really old..people have told me theyve driven toyotas built in mexico, and toyotas built other places, same model, same year car ..they said the ones built in mexico was junk compared to the others..
My son has a 1995 Honda Civic with 60K original miles. The first 25 years the car was kept in a garage in driven by a "little old lady". I would love for someone like Scotty to evaluate his car.
Mazdas have generally been decent cars. You can usually get a used one a little cheaper than a Toyota or Honda and still expect above average reliability. The only thing was that you had to kind of avoid a few of their automatic transmissions. Most of their automatics have been good but there are a handful of them that you want to stay away from especially when you got to 100,000 miles.
That was when they had to use the junk Ford components. That’s when they had bad reliability. They have some of the best engineering
@@joshuacurran7405Lies.
I haven't heard of any problem concerning their current 6 speeds. It's probably from the pre-2013 era.
@@lajya01 I have. The transmission in my uncle's 2017 CX-5 failed after just 70K miles. Unacceptable.
Scotty you're great. I have a 2014 VW Jetta TDI. I love the car... Guinness world record in fuel consumption. Can you do a video on TDIs??? It is my belief that dieselgate was only about killing alternative fuel cars for EVs to dominate.
I have a 2016 Mazda 3 with a 6 speed manual, 113K miles.... except for the brake rotors/calipers at 110K, I have had zero problems. Just filled the gas tank 384 Mi / 9.7 Gallons. 70/30 Freeway/City. 5K Mi service schedule full synthetic oil.
I have the same car with 88k miles. Make sure you replace the air filter to keep the engine cool and efficient.
I have a 2003 Toyota Prius 335,000 miles. It has an automatic shut-off for the headlights if you leave them on
2016 Mazda 3 grand touring and nothing has gone wrong with it. The battery is $380 to replace.
Mazda and Toyota formed a joint partnership, they are still different companies. The CX50 and Toyota Corolla Cross are essential the same cars, but the Corolla Cross costs less. 😂 Toyota didn’t buy Subaru. Is350 😅 Lexus is part of Toyota. 🙉
Scotty I need some advice. I am looking to get a newer car. I really want a three row. I would like a Highlander but their so expensive. It would really be a stretch because the payment would almost be as much as my mortgage. Would you recommend a 2011-2015 Honda Pilot? I like the look of them and their very spacious. I found one online thats got around 120,000 miles and its $10,000. I am hoping to not have to but another car for at least ten years. What would you recommend?

I took my wife Cx5 outside it was a blast😁 very solid vehicle and awd with turbo and the torque is powerful and fun after that i never got to drive it again i must had too much fun with it😂
Is it true mazda has some issues with cylinder scratching even at 20k? I guess always having 5k oil change intervals helps avoiding that but have you heard abt this issued?
Anyway, i have a 2017 jetta made in Mexico manual transmission and never had any issues with it. Im already at 103k miles. I want to keep it and teach my kids how to drive manual.
Just went with someone to help them buy a new car. I told them about a Mazda cx-5 because they wanted a midsized suv. They listed to me and got a fully loaded top of the line cx-5 for $20k. It was a $50k car new and honestly I drive a lexus and this thing drives a lot like my lexus and I'm so amazed. I bought my lexus because of Scotty and my friend got a cx-5 because of Scotty. LISTEN TO SCOTTY! You won't be disappointed!!!
Hmm. Even my old '09 Impreza 5 speed manual turns the headlights off if you leave them on at the light switch and switch off the car. They changed that on the new ones? The only way I can allow headlights to run down the battery is to shut the car off and then switch the headlights on manually and walk away.
I have a civic Si coupe from 2017 with a turbo. I get 8-9 MPGs over factory estimates city and highway if I don’t slam the gas.

Production of a manual transmission makes no specific pollution. A main advantage in compare the EV batteries. And it will go forever without any major cost.
Sorry bud but cars assembled in the US plants are not that great either. Maybe better than the ones assembled in Mexico, but not by much.
…which is exactly what Scotty said. 🙄
Hey Scotti, why do these new vehicles have a headlamp time delay like a whole bunch of Chrysler vehicles have had over the years. The Caravans are one. I've had these thru the years and the headlights will turn off if you leave them on. Everything is supposed to be high tech, so why can they not do this anymore. Totally stupid!!

Back in 2013 we purchased a Forester. Still have it with 140K miles on it. Been one of the best cars we have ever had.
I have 2014 Forester with 140k. Second best car. My 2010 3.6 litre Outback was nicer. Smooth transmission and more power. Beautiful riding. But the Forester is fine too.
what year is that Mazda?
I'm lucky enough not to have to worry about gas mileage, but thanks for the tips Scotty 👍. I also agree that CVTs just don't feel right
to me, the CVT on the Toyota Corolla I rented wasn't terrible, but not great. The real deal-breaker for me was the awful electric power steering - took so many constant steering corrections, not comfortable to drive as my 99 Mustang six is -
The CVT in my '22 OB XT is fine.... very little difference between that and our previous 2010 Chevy Malibu 4cyl. Two things about the CVT: 1) CVTs LOVE an engine with ample torque, the more the engine has, the more the CVT acts & feels just like a classic automatic transmission, and 2) If you are the type of driver that has to frequently stomp on the gas, and then stab the brakes over & over & over as a driving style, you're probably not going to care for any vehicle with a CVT.
I used to drive a Ford explorer V6 engine 28 years ago but it was blew up head gasket just 90,000 + miles. Maybe that is why not a whole lot of people driving domestic car any more
