I get the feeling that it's because that the company's that made the games that were based on the movies were relying on the popularity of the movies themselves to camouflage the shit puddles that were the games whereas contra had to hold up itself all by it's lonesome and it greatly succeeded

The music in the Sega CD version is awesome, because it was Tommy Talarico. Who also did the music in MDK, Wild 9, Skeleton Warriors, and the Earthworm Jim games.

Besides the actual sky-high quality of the videos, what I REALLY like about AVGN is the fact that he, unlike many other reviewers today, not only respects other people's opinions but makes clear that he's not gonna knock anyone for having their own, or force his on anyone else. And plus, he looks forward to the newer games and plays those, too. So here's a guy who looks to all ends of the videogaming pantheon and therefore has a 100% complete perspective on what it is he talks about. And I'm sure such a universal view and level of respect helps the video quality, too. Deadass, other people could learn from him.
One thing I really like about the NES Terminator game is that unlike almost every other game in existence, you don't take damage from simply touching enemies. Also, there is an infinite life code. B, B, up, left, and A on a second controller.

No, don't bring up RoboCop for Xbox. I remember playing that right off the heels of Halo. It was so bad I had to play Halo; Max Payne, and KOTOR just to get the flavors out of my mouth. FPS and RoboCop should have been a match made in heaven instead it was a pile shake made in hell.

The NES Terminator game could've been awesome, because they originally gave the license to Sunsoft, but during the making of the game the license expired. They changed it around and published it as Journey to Silius, which is a simple but fun platformer. Kinda sucks that it wasn't released as the Terminator game, 'cause maybe then more people would've bought it.
The reason the original music on Sega CD is so awesome is because it was composed by Tommy Tallarico, the legend who would go on to compose some brilliant music for games such as Wild 9 (an underrated gem), Earthworm Jim, Prince of Persia and the 2000 Spider-Man video game. He now does Video Games Live. Total legend.
The wrench tactic totally works with the game Rygar as well. As a kid I used tape and a pile of some coins with an NES Advantage to leave Rygar sitting there killing enemies in a place where they re-spawned infinitely.... I think I left it on while I was at school, by the time I came back I was totally powered up and was able to beat the game pretty easily!
When he left it running overnight, I thought he would have 0 lives in the morning due to arithmetic overflow, b/c the NES can't understand numbers bigger than 255.
there was a terminator game for the genesis he forgot to mention. I thought that was pretty good. and here's the best part, it has the terminator theme. it's classic 16 bit sounding but it's still the theme.
I have only seen the first Terminator movie, but I will see the second one eventually. The first Terminator game you mentioned had potential, but it looks like it is barely even playable without the use of an emulator.

If a game is literally _unfair_ to the point of un-playability, then I really don't care if I cheat at it or not. If the game is fair, then yeah, I only cheat if it is for shits and giggles after beating it fair and square, or perhaps a PC game with console commands that help extend the life of an already great game. Take Jedi Outcast or Academy for example - you can spawn any NPC you wish, on any map you wish. I do that all the time just to set up extreme challenges for myself or to cause massive chaos in a level. =D
Great video, but there was one version of Terminator 1 that was left out, the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version of this game. It actually wasn't bad even though it had only 4 levels and it also has the Terminator theme. Its probably the 2nd best version of this game, right behind the Sega CD version of course.

The Sega Genesis version of Terminator is actually quite beatable and is a fun run and gun game! With Great music like in the Sega CD game! unlike this SNES one where it just seems like one level that loops endlessly!

The funny thing about 6 lives being the maximum is that it's actually a bug. The maximum amount is actually supposed to be 7, but because of an oversight during game development and a weird way the game tracks amount of lives, it ends up being 6 instead.

@@valen9835 depends on the rules that they have involving time travel, in Terminator traveling time is on one single timeline that can be changed, others have each travel through time be a new universe with a changed timeline

The Sega Genesis version of Terminator is actually quite beatable and is a fun run and gun game! With Great music like in the Sega CD game! unlike this SNES one where it just seems like one level that loops endlessly!

He loves his Nintendo systems (and I think we all agree he loves the shitty NES/SNES games as well lol or making fun of them on the internet at least!) but he does give the Genesis its props here and there like in his XMEN video he mentions how Clone Wars was the best in the XMEN 16 bit games, and also recently I remember he was playing ToeJam & Earl on one of his other programs claiming it was one of his all time fav games. Though your right he does lean a bit towards Nintendo stuff.

The funny thing about 6 lives being the maximum is that it's actually a bug. The maximum amount is actually supposed to be 7, but because of an oversight during game development and a weird way the game tracks amount of lives, it ends up being 6 instead.
