my mum is one of 4 sisters. 1 has died, as has their only brother. They are all in their 80's and all of their family have been the most amazing role models. The 3 sisters saw each other almost everyday before Covid, and only recently they all got together again. One has very bad Alzheiners (estimated 10 minute memory) but she still remembers to tell my mum she "spoilt her childhood because she was the baby before mum came along". My aunts have always been my inspiration, when one was terminally ill she said "I have had my 3 score years and 10 and I have seen my grandchildren grow up". Another aunt was legendary for 'running' everywhere she went. When she developed a serious physical problem she said"I have been very lucky with my health, it's my turn now". If I am even 1/4 of the way as any of these 4 sisters, then I will be giving more to the world than I take out of it. I never realised all families are not like this until I met my hubbys family. Every day I give thanks that I have had these women in my life.

@@garybeharrie Everybody should have this kind of family, it breaks my heart when I see the way some people are treated by those who should wrap them up in love and security.

How would a 4-hour drive keep you away from your sister for so long that she didn't recognize you? Don't they have telephones? Children and grandchildren to bring them back and forth? I'd drive my mom twice that distance at the drop of a hat to see her sister.
