    Very interesting video, I like the paint job, the white strip sets it off beautifully. Its good to see Kelly helping out. That mast was more work than I thought it would be. Look forward to your next video.

      Briiliant Adam. Good luck flr tomorrow. Just take it easy sailing. What i've learned is to reef early or if you dont believe the weather forcast lol. Which is easy to do because we have 4 season a day here lol. Easier to to a reef out in low wind than put a reef in when theres high winds. Let me knkw how you get on 👍

    Having raised and lowered the mast on my Vega a few times I got lazy this year and paid the boatyard riggers $300 too step the mast. I didn't even have to be there! Best money I ever spent! BTW - those paint colors look sharp!

    • @LittleBoatAdventures
      @LittleBoatAdventures  4 года назад

      Yeah it's not something I'd be in a hurry to do again. I'd assume it would be a lot easier with a hinged mast step, but I couldn't find any online to fit. So it may well be a crane job next time.

      Hi Mike. Sorry about the late reply. I hadn't seen your message. I'd still really like to fit a tabernacle. We did look for one when the mast was down but couldn't find one online. But since that we've seen a guy on the Vega group Jack Bijister I think is making and selling a Vega specific one.

    Hi, Hull colour looks good, think the vegas had an offwhite gelcoat which looks "scruffy" as it gets older. White line sets it off well.

    • @LittleBoatAdventures
      @LittleBoatAdventures  3 года назад +1

      Hi. Well One tin of the 2 part paint did one coat. We actually used a different 2 part primmer (sigma cover 280) and did 3 coats with a 4 litre can. I wish I had of used epifanes from the start. I would have got a better finish.

    Hi, well done with this one She looks really nice, just one question there. What about those spots at the bottom where the sheathing touches the saddle? I was wondering if ther's any way to fix those by pulling her up and refit in the saddle slightly to the back or smth. to get those spots. Will deal with the same thing next year by my own. Look forward to your next upload.

    • @LittleBoatAdventures
      @LittleBoatAdventures  4 года назад +1

      Hiu Michal, thanks for your message. I'm not sure what you mean by the sheathing. Do you mean how I have painted the areas where the supports hold the boat?

      @@LittleBoatAdventures yup, exactly that, how did You do that ?

    • @LittleBoatAdventures
      @LittleBoatAdventures  4 года назад

      To paint the sides were the props are I moor the boat against the harbour wall and when the tide goes out I can paint them. The bottom of the keel is an issue though, i can not 100% get it painted, and can only try when it is on the trailer. I would really need a hoist to lift it to get to the bottom properly.

    Great job. Maybe daft question but how did you find the waterline? I've seen some rather complicated formulas online.

    • @LittleBoatAdventures
      @LittleBoatAdventures  4 года назад +1

      Hi there, thank you. Well we actually cheated with this. Fortunately there is another Albin vega right beside us in the boat yard so we used it to take measurements to mark areas along the Hull. We then used a lazer to connect the dots.
      I've seen an interesting way to use anks of wood at the bow and stern and pieces of string to mark the line.

      @@LittleBoatAdventures Here's another way.
      1. Make a series of alphabetical marks along the toe-rail with a waterproof marker which can be removed at the end. (Each mark should be about 18 inches from the next, with the front of the boat being the first.)
      2. From each mark, measure down from the top of the hull to the top of the waterline, vertically and make a note of the distance. (From the mark at the bow measure down the slope of the bow.)
      3. Take each mark across the boat to the opposite side.
      4. Rub down and paint.
      5. Once you are ready to replace the waterline use your measurements to make a series of marks along the hull and join the dots with masking tape. One set of measurements is all you need for both sides.
      I would also have painted a contrasting line at the waterline - maybe red about 2 inches deep.
      I have to say for a first-timer your paint is brilliant.
      Well done!
