heng su ping I think he knows. Right after the movie Bohemian Rhapsody was released, some people caught him out and about off guard around London. Even as elderly as he is, having been out of the spotlight for 20 years, people still recognized him! He was in shock and disbelief and I saw him put his hands over his face. At first I thought he was upset that someone said, “ there is John Deacon from Queen!”. No he wasn’t. He was really shocked and overjoyed. He started signing autographs for probably 30 or 40 different people. It was such a sweet video. You might be able to find it on RUclips but it tested me up to see that.
@@montereyharris1277 I saw that video as well. He looked overwhelmed to me. I felt sorry for him after I saw it. I hope you are right in your assessment though.
@john smith I don't know about that. According to interviews I've seen with Brian and Roger, He prefers to live in isolation. They don't even talk to him much, however, he is still involved in the financials pertaining to Queen. One thing for sure, if Deacy IS working it's by choice. John has enough money for his children's, children, children. I wonder if he still picks up his bass from time to time. Everybody loves Deacy. I just hope he knows that.
Seeing this clip and knowing how depressed John was and that this was John’s last performance with Queen, The Show Must Go On has another meaning not just for Freddie, but for also John. That’s what makes this song one of my favorite Queen songs ever. I hope John is doing so much better nowadays, because it would make me upset if he still feels the same as he did in this video.
Brandon McLendon I feel The same way. John Deacon was out and about after the movie was released and some people recognized him. He looked completely different and he so elderly and little, He looked completely different and he’s so elderly and little yet being out of the public guy someone recognized him after 20 years. They said, “ there’s John Deacon from Queen” & John put both of his hands over his face. I thought he was upset because Roger said he was very frail. He actually was shocked and overwhelmed and happy about it. He signed about 30 or 40 autographs for people and it was the most beautiful thing.❤️
Jayden Hill...💁🏾 Yes, we know and THAT'S what this thread was 'bout...the magic of Deacury (Deacon/Mercury) being with the band is over as neither are with the band anymore (Deacy by choice) & Freddie by his death ✌🏾.
In an interview in the late 1980's John was asked "what is the difference between writing a song with Freddie and writing a song with the other members of Queen." And John said " Freddie is the only one that I have worked on a song with". I think really that that says it all.... John and Freddie were much closer than most people realize.
@Bill Blackman I also think it didn't help with how much animosity there was between John and Roger / Brian because of Hot Space being a flop. Hurtful things were said but Freddie always supported John during the album.
John was kinda into something disco which was strongly against by Roger. If it wasn't for Freddie, Another one bite the dust wouldn't have made it in the album.
Elton invited Freddie's "family" from Garden Lodge over for his big Christmas day bash the year Freddie died because he knew it would be so tough for Joe, Phoebe and Jim. Jim spent most of the day outdoors with Elton's ponies feeding them, petting them and crying his eyes out. Here Elton is trying to help the rest of Queen move on and perform again. What a guy! God bless you, Elton.
@@Joseph-et3jc He had said in an interview that he felt sorry for them because it must be like having an amazing sports car in the garage yet being unable to drive it for them to not still be performing Queen's catalog and continuing with their talent. So I imagine that singing for them in this reunion was an extension of that sentiment.
John Deacon deserves much respect. His sadness is noticeable during the footage. He and Freddie were very close friends and Freddie's death affected him so much. Huge respect for this man. God bless you John.
It's often said that John retired in 1997 after this performance but the truth is he retired when Freddie died and the only time he has been willing to come back out into the public eye--which he seems to hate--is in order to pay tribute to Freddie. He came out of retirement only for the tribute concert, to finish the Made in Heaven album with the vocals Freddie left them, to record the song for Freddie "No One But You" and this tribute to Freddie. That speaks volumes. God bless you, Deacon. We still love you!
There's also an interview from '93 where Roger talks about how he and John will continue on, without Brian if necessary (clearly they weren't getting along at that moment). It sounds like they were still figuring things out, but I never saw any evidence of "We'll only get together for tributes."
@@TheaterPup I believe they were talking about finally getting back into the studio to complete Made in Heaven. Brian kept putting it off so Roger and John DID finally begin working on the album without Brian. What they DIDN'T do was continue performing without Brian. Brian tells in an interview how only THEN did he quit what he was doing and join them in the studio to complete the album using the vocals Freddie had left behind.
Me too, tearing up looking at him. He was always the shy one. Those people are usually the most sensitive. No wonder he never was able to move on after Freddie. I feel for him so much.
What hurts me the most is that whenever the band were in social situations and John was feeling awkward or out of place, Freddie was always the one to encourage him and make him feel comfortable. Freddie wasn’t there to do that this time :’(
What a true friend John is to Freddie John you are one in a million and I wish more people like you in this world cause there are so many fake friends stay true to your self God Bless
I was part of the dancers on that stage...i thought this footage will never be shown. I can’t forget that day, memories of that powerful performance are still so vivid and most of all the audience’s reaction when they surprisingly found out that Elton and the Queens would have ended our show. Versace was also on stage that night, it was few months before he got murdered. I’m so happy to see this 20 years after...
Brian May is polite, but for him to talk about John's feelings must have been a very hard thing to do. Losing Freddie Mercury hit John Deacon the most, and he was turning to alcohol, to block that loss out. Poor John. We love you.
*Brian:* "at 0:30...we haven't played for God knows how long and _we don't have our singer_ ..." *Those words will break a Freddie Mercury fan's heart in a million pieces*
I winced feeling, knowing, this was not John Deacon’s style at all. A dear fish out of water. I’m heartbroken he was so profoundly heartbroken over his loss of Freddie.
I have wept for Freddie (still do) like I have never wept for anyone before and I did not even know him personally. I can only imagine how hard it was for Deaky to have lost a man he was close to for nearly 20 years. I wish you peace and love for the remainder of your lifetime John. And when it is time for you to go, you and Freddie can continue making beautiful music together.
This was incredibly sad to watch knowing the circumstances and back story. We know just how sad John felt by his eyes and lack of smile. Also, Bri looks a bit lost while playin’ as well. He looked over where Freddie would’ve been and had that look of sudden recognition that he’s not there. It’s like Bri mentally knows Freddie’s gone but spiritually still expected him to be there...if that makes any sense?! He’d gone on record before saying how strange it was to play Queen music for others fronting or singing lead ‘cos Freddie not only sang, but he was their maestro they’d looked to for cues to change-up or rap-up songs while playin’ live. Freddie often was settle with it at most shows but we clearly see him conduct them at Live Aid. He was the one telling Rog, Bri, and Deacy when to end the songs whenever he’d held his arm up w/his finger pointing up, then bring it down to stop any song they were playin’. You can even hear him sing “Play it one more time...” at the end of “Hammer to Fall!” Freddie orchestrated and timed their set right on to the very last second at that gig. If you’d missed that part..just rewatch the performance and pay attention to the lighting system. The yellow light is flashing/blinking and he’d held his arm up ‘till the very last second and threw it down just as the light turn a solid red! He was very technical in that sense and the guys have all said they missed that aspect of his live performances with them. This performance was bitter sweet ‘cos it was for a worthy cause and got Maylor to dust-off their instruments for more live performances together. Not so much for John...but I luv that he’d likely done it for Freddie’s memory.
you- motown 1966- are telling every detail movements what FM would have been in every song and show which it seems to be so live still. watching this video , probably all the Queen fans all over the world, feel bitter, heartbreaking and heartwarming at same time. thank you anyway CM showing us last beautiful memory of John s playing in live.
H.Y. PAIK...Sorry if my post made you feel sad by me giving every detail ‘bout Freddie’s onstage cues to the other band mates. That definitely wasn’t my intention at all. I simply wanted to convey what Bri & Rog have said after playin’ at the memorial concert for Freddie where his presence was missed onstage. Bri said how he’d got caught-up playin’ and momentarily looked over for Freddie’s cue and realized he wasn’t there. How he’d forgotten in that moment of him playin’ that Freddie wasn’t there. After hearin’ Bri say this, I’d rewatched the concert and see where Deacy’s lookin’ to Rog for his cues and Bri’s lookin’ at Deacy for cues. God only knows who Rog was lookin’ to for those cues.
I always noticed how Freddie cued them all when playing live. Such a tremendous hole left by him in the band. I know it took Brian and Roger some years before they could really move on after Freddie’s death. It’s no wonder there would be another casualty after losing Freddie, Deaky. Losing Freddie was just too much for him.
Hearing Freddie’s beautiful voice and knowing how sad John was has just left me sobbing. I hope John knows how much love there still is for him out here. RIP dearest Freddie.
@@Motown-1966 - At 6:20 he showed his usual "tic". His habit when he was very nervous was to lick his lips. He always did that when he was stressed, especially if he felt obligated to sing. I've noticed that for years. Look at him singing with Freddie in Liar for example. He also wandered aimlessly when he didn't know what to do. I'm sad but glad he retired for his own mental health.
🙋🏾♀️ Susie Q...Yes! Deacy would often lick his lips while singing Liar with Freddie and looked a bit disjointed in the official TOTP video just after the “All-day-long” part. It’s like he was walking ‘round in the same spot lost momentarily. I ‘spose he wasn’t as spontaneous as Freddie was and when Freddie stepped away (catchin’ Holy Ghost)...it left Deacy momentarily standing there holdin’ his bass & shakin’ his head. I’d just caulked it up to nerves or him not really knowin’ what he’d was ‘spose to do. Then he came to look to do their part in Liar at subsequent shows. ☺️ He even rushed up to Freddie during one of those shows with anticipation (I don’t remember which one though)...but it was included on one of those Deacury dedicated “All-day-long” videos. Now that you’ve pointed this out here, I can see his tic quite easily ✌🏾!
@@Motown-1966 - He also licked his fingers when playing. Bass strings are thick and heavy and the old flat wound strings could really hurt your fingers so it was a bit of a lubricant to soften the strings and from what I saw, he seldom used a pick, just his fingers, so a 2 hour concert could murder his fingers even with callouses. Those strings aren't used much now. My own are "round wound". I think the poor guy was pretty nervous much of the time but his love of playing was stronger. He relaxed after a while with the aid of his little bar behind the amp for later shows. Not the best way to overcome his shyness but he never missed a beat. Actually, In Dragon Attack at Montreal, after Brian's solo it looked like Brian got out of synch and he crossed the stage where Deaky gave him a countdown with his arm to get him back on the beat. One show where he really seemed to have a ball was at the Wembley..."You're so Square, baby I don't care" medley. He laughed out loud at Freddie stealing the Bobbie's hat. LOVE DEAKY! His shyness stood out so much with three "show offs". It was always frustrating that they showed him so seldom. The show you referred to is Live at the Rainbow, 1974. He lunges out of the darkness!!!!!!! GAAAAA!
John Deacon will be in everyone's heart for me he inspired me to play more bass and tbh i never liked playing bass but seeing him is just inspiring to me 💗💗💗
I can't imagine how difficult this must have been for John. I respect his courage and his deep love for Freddie. I know for certain Freddie was right there next to him. Freddie was the only one he worked on his music with. No One But Him. Love you John. Very much.
I'm so depressed right now... Poor John, that must be so difficult for him that he dicided that was the last Time... 😢😢😢😢.... Thanks for share this!!!!
Poor Deaky his anxiety shines through he was so uncomfortable and you could tell he wanted to be anywhere but there, I so hope he’s feeling much more comfortable nowadays and happier too.
I'm literally tearing up John was trying so hard to stay strong, I really hope I wish he's living happy these days It's so heartbreaking to see the pain in his eyes, oh John we adore you so much
John has an amazing feel on the bass! I've been playing for MANY years but I'm always amazed by his sheer musicality. His performance here was impeccable!
@@gazbert88 wtf its wrong with you, money doesnt make you hapoy and this video is a proof of that, it doesnt matter that he is a millionare, he lost a really close friend and i hope you never do.
My heart breaks for Deaky 😭 You can see how unhappy he is, even though he is trying. He is a very shy person and I think Freddie was his anchor, he took him under his wing from the start. I cannot even start to imagine how he felt after losing him. And I don't blame him for retiring, it was the best thing for everyone. I just hope he is well now. 😊
Poor Deacy. Such a gentle, fragile soul. He had this same look during the shooting of These Are the Days of Our Lives. This is even harder to watch though because it looks like he'd been crying ☹.
John Deacon, one in a million. He never wanted to carry on without his dear friend Freddie. When Freddie Mercury passed away, all we knew Queen is over. Long-life to Queen, The Queen is dead.
@john smith hahahaha, That's a fake. He is a millionaire. Every time a radio aired Another one bites the dust, Deacon is winning more money than you and me in our whole life.
@john smith i thought it was sarcastic. Every Queen song played gives money to John and with the film he got a big chunk of royalties which is 25 % as it was decided at the end when Freddie was still alive. John rich as all the other members and also Mary.
I have a lot of respect for John calling it a day and doing what was right for him. It’s also what Freddie would have wanted him to do too! You can see here that he very much reached the end of his Queen journey
It’s been my experience you never get over losing someone, especially someone with a strong life force like Freddie, you just learnt to live with it, only visiting that sad place in your heart reluctantly. Everyone is unique, a one off work of art, never to be repeated. Some people just have a profound impact on you, end of story.
I can't help but tear up for John. It's so sad seeing him like that. I hope he knows that Roger and Brian still care about him. I wish John all the happiness through the rest of his life. He was indeed a legendary bassist. We love you and miss you John...
SwingRiots - I doubt it. Brian also said "John found it painful to play with them". John had his emotions and problems to deal with (having admitted to depression even before Freddie died) and did what was best for him and his family (and maybe his sanity) so I respect his choice but...as a fan since the 70's, DAMN! I do miss him. He was an amazing song writer and musician and from all I've heard, a dear, sweet but shy man who valued family over fame, having lost his own father at eleven. The Paris show was Jan. '97, the "No One but You" video was recorded Oct. '97 so he did perform once more in the studio just for one song.
They still to this day have band meetings, the three of them. Jamming must come naturally in some meetings. Brian keeps saying no matter how many bassist they've tried or how good they are, none of them can compare with the talent and chemistry they feel with Deaky.
I'm so glad you've posted this footage, I've been a fan of John Deacon for many years and seeing brand new footage of him (especially in the 90s) is simply thrilling... As well as hearing Brian and Roger talking about his departure really shows how much they cared and what a great personality and talent we lost... Also John playing in the background at 1:10 is great
First time seeing this clip -So emotional! John’s grief is so tough to watch. Brian, Roger, and Elton definitely seem to handle their emotions better but you can still feel all of the respect and deep sadness they all feel in Freddie’s absence. Elton is such a devoted friend to Freddie-It warms my heart Freddie, Brian, Roger, and John have such a close bond with Elton. Brian’s eloquent and emotional words were a perfect addition to the clip and expressed the deep love he had for Freddie as well. Magnificent performers and performance! Thank you so much for sharing! 😘👑😍❤️

Jim spent most of the day outdoors with Elton's ponies feeding them, petting them and crying his eyes out. Here Elton is trying to help The rest of Queen move on and perform again. What a great guy! God bless you, Elton.
T4tx T4tn Beautiful story! Thanks for sharing with us! I just watched Rocketman and now I better understand the wonderful person Elton John is and the struggles he endured throughout his life. He has the heart and soul of an angel and I believe he saw the same in Freddie. I’m just so glad they had each other to lean on - I bet it was very hard for them being such gifted, ‘good’ people in the cruel and cut throat entertainment business, especially concerning their dealings with John Reid. 😢😇😇
Keep Yourself Alive...ITA with ya on everything except John Reid. Freddie never had any issues with him. Their relationship (that I know of) was strictly business. Reid & Elton’s on the other hand were both business & pleasure as you know. I would think Sharon and Melina (Elton & Freddie) bonded moreso with both of them having dissapproving parents when it came to their sexuality which lead to both bein’ self distructive (takin’ drugs, drinkin’ heavily, & in Freddie’s case, becomin’ promiscuous & havin’ insecurity issues). They’re roughly the same age & came from that era where homosexulaity was frown upon....esepcially where Freddie’s parents were concerned being Zoroastrians. That faith doesn’t look upon homosexulaity favorably and they periodically would get on Freddie ‘bout it down through the yrs. Freddie learned to not speak on his relationships to his parents eventhough they knew ‘bout Jim in the end. They just let Freddie present him as his gardener and Mary as his beard for everybody’s sake. Jer (Mrs. Bulsara) did write to Jim, thanking him for being such a good partner for Freddie sometime after Freddie’s death. At least she was able to be big enough to see what an impact he’d had for her son and showed her appreciation for it. Bomi (Mr. Bulsara) was, IMO, the strict one & the harder nut to crack btw Freddie’s parent. I was rewatching the Montreux statue dedication again only last night & it’s so heartbreakin’ to see Jer sobbin’ into Jim Beach’s arms all while Bomi was standin’ there lookin’ gobsmacked. It’s like he hadn’t had a clue just how loved Freddie was by EVERYBODY else. Even Monstey (Montserrat Cabelle) was cryin’ & offering comfort to Jer. Bomi just stood there with his mouth open, ignoring Jer’s raw emotions. So with that I believe Elton & Freddie bonded. They both had unforgiving Dads 😣. Strangely though...Bomi ended-up in a nursing home facility before he’d died. As you know, Freddie left his parents plenty of money to live comfortably for the rest of their lives and so that said, there was no issue with takin’ care of Bomi at home...yet in the nursing home he ended-up. This typically isn’t what ppl of that generation or culture do so Jer puttin’ him in a nursing home at the end says a lot (at least to me). He was 13 yrs her senior & she’d came from the era where the husband ruled the home & she’d obeyed him. IDK if he’d came down with Alzheimer’s dementia and was violent with it or not but she definitely had the money to look after him at home and didn’t. She’d found her voice and spoke out publically ‘bout him whenever invited. Appeared in a number of documentaries & spoke lovingly ‘bout her darlin’ Freddie. I’m happy that she was able to do so prior to leaving this earth....I just pray she was able to relay her feelings to Freddie prior to his dyin’.
Emotions and how they show are so subjective..dont let the others fool you..it was hard on all of them! However I do believe John's personal makeup did make it harder to go on. Dont forget Bri's struggles and we may not have been told it all. By then I'm sure there was a fair amount of healing that happened..I relate to John tho...sometimes you just have to call your limits and respect your inner self..he did what he needed to do. Love them all and Elton did Freddie high honors in the way he sang the song! Utmost respect!
Laurie Engel Agreed. They all just processed their grief so differently, all beautiful in their own way. 🌹 I just feel so blessed that Brian and Roger chose to perform as a part of their grieving process -what a gift to the fans! Brian says he feels the need to ‘keep busy’ which is why I think he chooses this path to cope. I only wish John could be there as well but understand and respect where he needs to be. 💜👑
I completely emphasis with John Deacon. I play in a brassband where my Dad was the founding member. At times I find it very hard to play without his presence. Christmas is now coming up and I don't know how I'll feel when we pull out the festive music. He passed away last year on the 28th November.
Deccy was arguably as good a song writer as Freddy and that's saying something. John wrote many of their biggest hits and it's sad such a talented man decided to call it quits while still fairly young. I do understand wanting to be around for your children so God bless you John and I know your children are happier for your being there. Our loss is their gain.
My heart still bleeds for Freddie and John and I don’t have any idea if it will ever going to stop. I have this enormous respect for Roger and Brian but nothing beats Queen, the four real and original Queen.
It's sad seeing John like this. But this reminds me too of how proud I am that he refused to be part of the Queen + charade in it's many different incarnations over the past two decades. He knows deep in his heart that without Freddie, there is no Queen live ever again😔💖
Exactly. Well stated. I was rather taken aback when Maylor chose to carry on with performing. I guess I can sympathize with their reluctance in "retiring", but other bands who have lost members prematurely, chose not to continue. It's not as if they needed the money. :>)
Yeah and it's a good thing adam Lambert isn't trying to replace him 🙄. Freddie would say, even today , that he is 1/4 of queen so brian and roger have the right to do what they want and it's okay for john to sit out and do what he thinks is best. They're creating new fans by touring.
Ive finally found someone who dealt with the death of a Bandmate just as badly as I did. My Father and I played together professionally for Years. When he passed away, my band fell apart, my love of playing and practicing music just suddenly died and ive been traumatized by it ever since. I havent played going on 4 years now. I can see it in Johns eyes just reliving things and cant get over the hump. This really hits home. You dont just get over it.
A snapshot in time, seeing how Deacon was still a hollow shell if his musical self. Even 9 months later when he performed the video 'No One But You' it was still evident Deacon's musical soul departed this earth with Freddie. So many fans wish to see Deacon one more time on stage but we all know in reality it won't happen any more than Freddie coming back. He chose to retire for good from music and to not even appear for the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame induction shows it. Mr. Deacon, may you be resting in peace on earth. We mourn with you and know your talents and contributions were equally important to the greatness of Queen.
I noticed that too. John seemed to be saying something but Elton John ignored him. He turned his face from John Deacon. I think that was very rude. I can see that John felt more uneasy after that. I even watched that scene on slowmo. On slowmo it was clearer that John motioned his body towards Elton John to have a conversation. But Elton John really ignored this very important man. My heart goes to John Deacon. I don't know why but I can feel his pain when Elton John ignored him when he wanted to talk a little bit more. John Deacon is a very important man in Queen but he did not get the respect that he deserved. I don't know why Elton John had to treat him that way. Good thing John Deacon is very educated, well mannered and professional. A really good man.
John Deacon seems to me like a very sensitive, vulnerable person who is prone to depression, especially in this video. It seems to me that Freddie's death affected John most of all Queen members. Sad story. Take care John.
wow so it is true, I thought it was simply media invention but now hearing it from Roger it was really true that John was affected by the lost of Freddie, such great human John Deacon we love you man.
Deaky is feeling lonely, he doesn't have some comfortable friend on this performance, only fred makes him happy i feel sad when i see his unoriginated smile
i have the utmost respect for john richard deacon and always will. he was a great friend and bandmate to all 3 of them for years, and as much as i miss him, i admire the fuck out of him for honoring his best friend in such a powerful way.
solo apareció en el concierto benéfico que sirvió como tributo al vocalista en 1992, en un recital para recaudar fondos con Roger Taylor en Midhurst en 1993, y en la apertura del Ballet en París en 1997, interpretando The Show Must Go On con Elton John. (me hace ilusión verle)
This gave me chill bumps. It makes me sad that John was so uncomfortable being there but his playing was spot on. John and Roger were so locked in and Brian’s playing was awesome. Elton’s voice was amazing too. This just worked so well. How cool would it be if Elton did a tour with them? I don’t know if his voice is up for the challenge though.
Beautiful . . . Thank you all. John looks good. He did good. I saw a gracious soft smile. I'm grateful for that. Freddie's voice, singing, "It's a beautiful day", my tears pooling . . .so sad . . .Brian, cool and proper. Roger loyal and lovely ...yes, very nice having this to come back to. I must add - I've just watched another video that includes (ends with) Queens full actual performance...John has more camera time...It's 14 minutes. ..it's wonderful.
Great tribute to Freddie Queen with Elton John love the performance Freddie loved the ballet & opera Miss Freddie Mercury just like John but his loss is so much greater than ours.

Not gonna lie, hearing Elton John sing this was surreal, but it was absolutely breathtaking... hearing him sing it was very different and he shed a much different light on this song. Of course, nothing can compare to when Freddie sang it. But this had a much darker quality to it, I feel. Very cool. Very Different. They are both amazingly talented musicians.
I sincerely hope John knows he's still widely loved and admired! This man deserves ALL the happiness tbh 💞

maybe john understood what freddy is about he probably understood freddy's inner conflict
He is my Love after Queen
T4tx T4tn I never knew that that was Elton’s intentions.
He was similar at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.
This video just shows what a true friend Elton was to Freddie. Thank you Elton you understood Freddie's genius.
John Deacon deserves much respect. His sadness is noticeable during the footage. He and Freddie were very close friends and Freddie's death affected him so much. Huge respect for this man. God bless you John.
Beautifully said. Thanks and respect to you too
👍🙏🏽
It's often said that John retired in 1997 after this performance but the truth is he retired when Freddie died and the only time he has been willing to come back out into the public eye--which he seems to hate--is in order to pay tribute to Freddie. He came out of retirement only for the tribute concert, to finish the Made in Heaven album with the vocals Freddie left them, to record the song for Freddie "No One But You" and this tribute to Freddie. That speaks volumes. God bless you, Deacon. We still love you!
True, but he also played at a gig with Roger Taylor somewhere in the 90's. There is a video with that gig somewhere on youtube.
codrutcroitoru yeah he did a few with Roger, in 93 and 94
So I'm guessing Roger sang?
I'm not a sentimental person, but I'm tearing up seeing John so unhappy then.
John used to smile all the time....His smile is gone, you can tell he is very sad.
Kristan M...Yes!
Me too, tearing up looking at him. He was always the shy one. Those people are usually the most sensitive. No wonder he never was able to move on after Freddie. I feel for him so much.
Very depressed. Poor John.
He was an inspiration
What hurts me the most is that whenever the band were in social situations and John was feeling awkward or out of place, Freddie was always the one to encourage him and make him feel comfortable. Freddie wasn’t there to do that this time :’(
Kalie Shwiyhat Roger did it in interviews too actually.
TheaterPup yes he did. There are quite a few interviews where Roger actively encourages John to participate.
What a true friend John is to Freddie John you are one in a million and I wish more people like you in this world cause there are so many fake friends stay true to your self God Bless
If you watch John's speech in the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, you can see Dr Brian May clapping and cheering for john deacon
Babakool what an incredible experience you had!
Who was the man in black that came on during the performance and kissed some of the dancers. It seemed very out of place for him to be there.
@@Lily-ld7fn it’s Maurice Béjart, the choreographer that directed the entire show, and made it possible, in other words our beloved grandfather.
I hope John has found some peace and comfort in his retirement.
He’ll never be forgotten.
I have one word to describe John Deacon: LEGEND
the coolest bass player on earth.
At least his last performance was a good one before he just vanished from the public eye
ABSOLUTELY!!
Not with Elton John love you deacon I understand more than you know
Overstatement of a century
The way Brian says “Deacy...our dear friend John“, sounds to me like he's not sure he's still allowed to call him Deacy and that makes me so sad😢
Stop this hurts my heart
That was for the benefit of viewers that didn't know John's nickname. Nothing more to it than that.
Brian May is polite, but for him to talk about John's feelings must have been a very hard thing to do. Losing Freddie Mercury hit John Deacon the most, and he was turning to alcohol, to block that loss out. Poor John. We love you.
@@michaelasquithnot to forget that deacs was chain smoking
@@rohnakp2396, Thank you. I couldn't remember, the other problems that, John Deacon was going through after the death of Freddie Mercury.
*Brian:* "at 0:30...we haven't played for God knows how long and _we don't have our singer_ ..."
*Those words will break a Freddie Mercury fan's heart in a million pieces*
We don't have our singer 😭😭😭😭
Even though he and Roger could sing.
Well, Spread your wings and I want to break free takes another meaning under that light
janet sumali : thank you for your personal feelings! I feel the same way miss both of them Forever💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
We didn't have our Dancing Queen. :'(
My heart feels for John as he tried to press on....for him, show must not go on....not without his dear friend, Freddie.
Motown 1966 I agree. They all seem a little lost.
Have so much admiration for John Deacon. I think people underestimated just how close he and Freddie were.
Whenever I hear Brian say “play,” I always think of him telling Freddie, “I’m pLaYinG what I always pLaY.”
Well YOU'RE expecting us to be Puhfect without even attempting to do anything...lol
It’s so painful knowing that John just wanted to leave and was so uncomfortable. Poor guy - he didn’t just lose a friend, he lost a brother.
I think for John Deacon it was more like losing a family member that just losing a band member.
I think it was like that for all of them, they just handled it differently because they're different people.
They were a family
They weren’t just a band they were family no they still are a family
@@yasminleone6685 Since 1970

That was such a hard watch, knowing how uncomfortable John Deacon was throughout
Yolanda Lukowski...It really was!
GAAAAA!
🙋🏾♀️ Thx Susie Q✌🏾!

@john smith Playing the bass with his friends.

Thank you for this CM. Amazing work as always. So moving to see this last performance with John and hear them speak about it.
“It was the last time John played with us...in public”
Did they jam privately at some point?
That is what I was thinking.
Thought the same.
They played together to record the song for Freddie No One But You.
Also John playing in the background at 1:10 is great
One of the most important piece of footage in the history of Queen. Thanks for uploading it here!

Terribly sad and terribly lovely.
This is heartbreaking. Freddie was John's anchor it seems.

Poor Deaky ! He seems sad and very uncomfortable, very embarassed. Hope now he's found peace with his family and sweet memories with Freddie

Becky Tweedale...EXACTLY spot-on!
Rita Johnson...ITA!
Yeah and it's a good thing adam Lambert isn't trying to replace him 🙄. Freddie would say, even today , that he is 1/4 of queen so brian and roger have the right to do what they want and it's okay for john to sit out and do what he thinks is best. They're creating new fans by touring.
Rita Johnson I guess The Rolling Stones should have quit in 1967 then. And Queen didn’t tour for 10 years, that’s more than enough time.
3/4 of Queen and they STILL sounded amazing. RIP Freddie...always missed...and also missing the great John Deacon. Hope you are doing better John.

John Deacon. My Hero.
john deacon fantastic bass player an integral part of queen sad to see him so unhappy here , hope he has found peace in life.
I wonder if Elton saw this clip and felt bad for snubbing John like that.. If he didn’t it just solidified John’s decision to leave..😢

solo apareció en el concierto benéfico que sirvió como tributo al vocalista en 1992, en un recital para recaudar fondos con Roger Taylor en Midhurst en 1993, y en la apertura del Ballet en París en 1997, interpretando The Show Must Go On con Elton John.
Happy 70th Birthday to you Queen Legend John Richard Deacon, Hearty wishes from Hyderabad, India. 19/08/2021
Beautiful . .
Give me a link please

Great tribute to Freddie Queen with Elton John love the performance Freddie loved the ballet & opera Miss Freddie Mercury just like John but his loss is so much greater than ours.

JOHN LOVE YOU! SO GLAD TO SEE YOU SO SAD TO SEE HOW THOUGH IT WAS FOR YOU. Miss you much the great bass king John Deacky.
R.I.P Freddie Mercury, I wish John Deacon every good luck and happiness
What a beautiful tribute!! So moving to see in 2019. Much love to Freddie and Deaky too!!
We love you so much John. It's hard to look at this. Big respect for you.
