I have always felt that "Innuendo" was written as a farewell album, and this heartbreaking video really only confirmed that for me. The band was trying so hard to act like everything was fine, but you can hear the uncertainty in their voices. The moment where Roger admitted to wanting to "Take a break musically..." He was planning ahead, knowing that he and the band would soon need a break from their adoring fans to there for Freddie. Brian has said that "The Show Must Go On" was written to reflect how Freddie must have felt at this point in their lives, and I think it does a great job at that. "These Are the Days of Our Lives" is incredibly nostalgic, it's somber tones perfectly representing the "glad it happened, sad it's over" point of view. Over all, this album is a true masterpiece. Roger was right when he said it was one of the best things Queen had ever done; it is truly so bittersweet.
These are the days of our lives Was written by Roger Taylor about his kids growing up but it also relates to Freddie when he was younger with the band before he was diagnosed with AIDS
Roger, lo pensó, porque sabía que significaba. Se unieron en causa común, es lo normal. Realmente eran buenas personas, y demostraron y demuestran haya hoy.
It was Freddie who encouraged John to write songs and contribute more because he was so shy. Freddie understood that about John because Freddie himself was painfully shy. John was quoted as saying, ' there is only one Freddie, and it's impossible to replace him.' So basically no Freddie, no Queen.
and that's why I feel so awfully sorry for him now ;( because I think Fred was like John's inspiration and helped him find his voice. Also, even though I heard somewhere that John wrote "You're My Best Friend" about his wife, I think he might've written it about Freddie too.
They were all fiercely loyal to Freddie. Brian was in a deep depression himself because of his marriage ending and Freddie's failing health. He actually thought about suicide once.
John was the only guy on board with Freddie's direction of the band. They saw more eye to eye musically than the others. Still love the dynamic of Queen, a band with 4 legit hit songwriters with differing tastes that made them truly unique.
Most of Freddie's songs that he's written were speaking about his life, his dreams, his personal issues.... he was a poet.. an extraordinary singer and songwriter.
@ goingplaces1066, I deeply echo your words.. Freddie was a poet in everything… his life, his love , his works, his songs … no one as a poet can be as fiery as him …Freddie was even a prophet… Bohemian Rhapsody is his self prophesy, yet unintentionally leaving a heritage for all human race …He is the most exposed artist, but as the same time most mysterious…
etc Composer!!!! I said this as a musician. Great Composer, we should fix that Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to love, Love of my life and many many songs were written by Freddie Mercury!
Still heartbreaking to hear Roger’s words: “I think I just want to rest now” - how incredibly difficult it must have been for Queen to realize there was absolutely nothing they could do to prevent what was to come...
@@angelamcevoy985, John does speak at length, on Magic To Miracle. It was Part of 2 of Queen: Days Of Our Lives, and Part 1 was from 1970- the middle of 1981, and Part 2 was from the middle of 1981- 1997, when John Deacon retired.
@@michaelasquith He also speaks for over 20 minutes while in the back of Roger's Range Rover to Bob Harris in 1977. Most of these outtakes never made it onto an official release. Some fragments did but that was it. Raw outtakes are in the hands of private collectors. For example John explains he likes bands like Fleetwood Mac who were big in 1977.
You can see John made a huge effort to step and do interviews etc for the Miracle and Innuendo albums to distract from the fact that Freddie did not want to talk to the media.
He was somewhat healthy around 1990, after that his health declined really bad. And you can see it in 'Days of our lives', too pale, too thin and obviously sick
Freddie was not healthy at all during the shooting of headlong. The reason he could do all these videos is because he would take shots of vodka to kill his pain for a while. Brian has stated that Freddie even had trouble shooting the videos for The Miracle, despite still looking great in those (I believe he mentioned in on the Breakthru commentary).
At the first time I heard it exactly that way! Seriously just the best band ! I've been relocated away from my family and quarantine for so long sick as I've ever been,;;; But I said most of my time watching video after video, and still keep finding some I haven't seen ;!! Only wish we could see more of John
Never was there a better or finer vocalist on the planet! He was so ill yet maintained phenomenal pitch perfected notes with strength, passion and vitality. 'These are the Days of Our Lives' and 'The Show Must Go On' are difficult to listen to without tearing up.
@@maximilienrigobert4189No Gillan! No! He's ugly clown now. We're say about art of singing, lovely power of voice. Gillan - hard energy, nervous tears no stright soul
@@natalchuk Come on, check how he can be powerfull with black sabbath ( disturbing the priest, born again ) Or romantic and versatile in "gethsemane", or how he can play with his voice against Richi Blackmore's guitar in live in japan. Ian Gillan is surely underestimated. And Freddy was Huge too.
@@Vel_0000 Disagree. Freddie's voice didn't need any improving. He stopped smoking to simply buy more time to live. But when he recorded Barcelona together with Montserrat caballé he was still smoking. yet the album Barcelona has some of Freddie's best vocals ever on it.
Freddie was so ill but yet he still gave it his all vocally. Music making and the continuous prosperity of the other band members meant everything to him. And the way that John,Brian, and Roger protected Freddie was just unbelievable. We would be lucky to have one such friend in life....Freddie had at least three.
Exactly. Love that they formed a wall around him and protected him. Roger was fiercely protective of Freddie. Just about every group shot the last few years of Freddies life, Roger is either sitting next to him or standing next to him. Anyone breathed wrong around Freddie, Roger would've ripped their heads off.
Susan Orchard I believe Roger still refuses to deal with the Murdoch press because of the despicable way The Sun stalked Freddie in his final months. He maintains his outrage and contempt. So, short of ripping off Murdoch’s head, yeah.
@@durgalin341 is this a joke? On the movie they weren't that close not until he told them he's got AIDS which is not accurate of course. Before that, fake Freddie was egocentric and bitchy who was always bickering with them especially with Roger. They didn't do him justice with that portrayal.
At 15:05 when Roger says, “musically I’d really like to take a bit of a rest actually”... carving out time/an excuse to be out of sight from their adoring fans... paving the way for them to be with their dying friend in the near future while keeping the press vultures at bay. Heartbreaking and fiercely loyal. Most of us are not lucky enough to have such good friends, much less “co-workers!” Freddie inspired that in people because he gave it to them first.
they simply loved and appriciated each other. of cource Roger knew why he will be out of sight, and Brian went almost crazy - he had fantastic respect for Freddie and vice versa
You can see the shift in band dynamics, knowing this would be the last album they made together. They are enjoying working with each other and making the most of it, unlike the late 70's/early 80's when they were bickering a lot. Freddie clearly kept his sense of humour which made it less tragic than it might have been.
I think they broke new ground w/this record , it's a shame it was the end of the road ...... some really hard hitting songs it offered. 'Show Must Go On' has to be one of their most succinct , targeted , point made songs they ever wrote ....... the lyrics...... gives you a sense of the deep sense of despair Freddie must have been dealing with , knowing he was dying ......yet: the image/persona/ "show" was always beckoning , calling , hounding for it's due ....... They were one of the GREATEST bands ever, in the history of RnR - and always will be .
hazor777 it’s beautiful. Innuendo kind of reminds me of Bohemian Rhapsody but not quite as intense. It’s a little eerie at first and I think it should be because Freddie was practically on his deathbed. it is a beautiful song and my favorite part is that Spanish guitar❤️❤️❤️ love it!! I like the operatic section but not quite as much as Bohemian Rhapsody. Then the song goes into a hard rock that I do like a lot. I think that Spanish guitar was absolutely incredible and Brian didn’t know how to play it. The band enlisted The guitar player from the band “ YES” to play only in that Spanish guitar part of the song because he could play that guitar so well and Brian couldn’t play it. Incredible!
Freddie's last recordings and He Sings His Ass off . Hard to believe he was so sick and could still pull off those amazing vocal parts . Listen to his voice in The show must go on . Unbelievably excellent.
Pugsley tattoos yeah he recorded three more songs after Innuendo - Mother Love, A Winters Tale (the only Queen song to be recorded in one take which wasn’t the case for TSMGO) and what would eventually be You Don’t Fool Me.
Roger Taylor: "It's richer, and it has more depth" Freddie Mercury: "He used to be a man with a stick in his hand Hoop diddy diddy hoop diddy do She used to be a woman with a hot dog stand Hoop diddy diddy hoop diddy do"
I llllove that song. I cook and play it. I m a cook and I used to work in the restaurants. My boss once whilst watching me dancing and singing that song said:"May God kill me if you're normal!" 🤣🤣
Brian Mays comments at 9:15 are interesting and true because the first time I listened to the innuendo album I honestly didn't care for it. Now it's probably my favorites only because I gave it a second chance.
@Andrew Black Yes but he wasn't the only one to blame. Some of his partners were way, WAY more sexually out of control and more than one knew they were HIV pos when they went with Freddie.
He looks so thin. What an admirable, beautiful soul Freddie was. Literally worked and trudged ahead till he dropped. So beautiful and yet so sad to see this. What a great upload, thanks!! 👍🏻
It's brilliant how they were able to work around Freddie and his deteriorating health. If you didn't know it would seem just like any other album. Especially in Those Were The Days Of Our Lives, just brilliant. This was truly one of their best works. Love You Fred.
Freddie worked for as long as he could until his body gave out on him. Brian said they would record for as long as Freddie was able until he got tired. Roger said Freddie had an amazing will and they said they made sure they worked closely with him to keep his spirits up and give him something to do. They felt they helped him through the pain he was going through physically and emotionally. Freddie wasn't expected to live past 1988, he lived til 11/91. He didnt give up.
@@Gearhart-mi6eu Freddie was seriously perfecting his craft. if you can see his videos from his younger years. As Roger and Brian may was saying he wants everything perfect. He believes their song will live forever. What an amazing hope and vision.
Though, Roger learned from Freddie too. The reason why when Freddie left. After couple of years they stand out to release their masterpiece. They did not know it will be that big hit and will be in the history of music. Their passion and love of Freddie amazingly worked like magic. Up to this days of the remaining members of Queen. So lovely, example of friendship, brotherhood and loved for music. I do hope younger generations will truly appreciate and learn from them.
He was actually handsome and had interesting face. I always love to see Freddie in a real man style: the costume/suit, the beard, the hair.... What a handsome man
I watched this video years ago, and what I find most interesting is if you are into art today there are a TON of artists out there now making paper dolls and dioramas once again. The videos are still VERY relevant today. They are not dated. Never got to see Queen live with Freddie. But I did get to see Brian May at Hammerjacks in Baltimore Md. Great show. I’ve been a fan since the 70 s (and took a lot of crap for it too here in America, but NOW attitudes have changed ). I will never forget a girl I worked with asked who my fav band was and I said Queen. She gave me a bunch of shit. So I asked HER what her fav band was and she said Guns and Roses and I RAN out of the room LAUGHING THE WHOLE WAY. AXL IS A HUGE QUEEN FAN !
Kimberly Sikorski I have taken a lot of crap over the years for being a Queen fan, too. I started listening to them when we lived in Europe in the mid ‘70’s. Roger was my first great love. I saw him on Top of the Pops and my teenage heart just fell, hard! 💞When I came back to the states to graduate high school they were popular for a short while but then everyone seemed to forget about them. (Except me. Still 100% in love with my Roger!) I took a lot of crap for that, too. Things have sure changed in the past few years, even more so now that the movie opened everyone’s eyes again. I love seeing them getting all the love again here in the US. 💖💗 And even though he looks more like St Nick than Roger now, when he talks or sings I still hear my Roger and I still 100% love him. That will never change! ❤️🖤
Both audio and video are so good. Thank you! I had seen parts of this but never watched the entire production. So many really special moments. Had to smile, though--Brian May in his pre-Raphaelite stage--so pretty! Roger is always beautiful, and so "grown-up" here. John's introduction is professional, and he looks comfortable doing it. Freddie, flippant and funny and marvelous.
Not going to enter into that discussion, but the term I use and the clause is quite subjective. It's one of the greatest albums for me, and for you Jazz it's one of their greatests albums. It's a subjective opinion, so it can't actually be proved in it's full extent.
It breaks my heart to see Freddie like this :(( he was already very sick, and the fact that he kept going as if nothing was happening, sich strong will. I will always feel sad that he had to go so soon.
No, AZT was already out, and that was likely one of the things that did him in. The song 'I'm going slightly mad' is effectively a testament to the damage it does to the brain and results in people losing track of their thoughts and inability to coherently express and remember things, among many other direct effects. AZT was a catastrophe, which you can easily see if you read the medical literature, but doctors saw only what they wanted to see, and pharmaceutical companies were happy to supply that and similarly toxic drugs. Even Freddie's own doctor admitted years later that the early medications were 'a mistake'. At Thabo Mbeki's presidential AIDS commission, both dissenting and orthodox sides agreed unanimously that AZT had unnecessarily killed a lot of people. As for Magic Johnson, he started taking it and rapidly had to give up basketball, and then after a while suddenly got better and remained well since. His ability to perform like he subsequently did would just not have been possible while taking AZT - it is absolutely crippling. The only ones who survived the early days were those who DIDN'T take AZT. Hence the saying, "There's no magic in AZT, and no AZT in Magic". I know of one guy who was on an AZT trial, and concluded that it was killing him, but it was psychologically very difficult to stop taking it when doctors had said it would save his life - and that's what many people find: If a doctor says you must take this to save your life, it's very hard to disobey, and many people were not able to stop taking it right up to their deaths. But he did, and he's now pretty sure he's the only one that survived from that group.
TY! I'm late to the party cuz I just saw this video today. Loved John's intro. Esp since he's a man of few words! He loved Freddie and they were kindred spirits and sensitive souls. Losing Freddie effected him greatly and he just couldn't go on with Queen. For John there was no Queen without Freddie. Gotta respect that.
Freddie's voice is amazing in 'The Show Must Go On," hitting all those high notes, which he hadn't done in a few years, despite his illness. Jim Hutton's memoir notes that Freddie quit smoking around 1990. that may have helped.
I think they always loved each other but here the reality has slapped them in the face we are losing Freddie who we love as a brother and the petty bickering just fell by the side and did not matter brothers bicker it happens they were different musically but the same emotionally they cared for one another
This video shows a band full of energy and new ideas, although they all knew that it was about to end. The title track is one of the most awe-inspiring songs in the history of rock music and confirmed their ongoing level of ambition. ... And just listen to how well-articulate and thoughtful they sound. Good grief, I miss them.
Am I the only one who thinks if Freddie survived he would have a huge pile of BROADWAY musicals that he and the boys had written? He would have been an AMAZING story teller with his insight and talent. Incredibly SAD he died so young. Planet Earth lost a GENIUS.
Everyone of them is such an incredible genius in his very own and special way, talents, personality and much much more…. and to me this makes QUEEN so extraordinary brilliant outstanding and to me the best band the world has ever seen and heard! Almost every song is a masterpiece and thank god destiny brought the 4 of them together becoming legend forever. Even they’ve created so many very different songs I‘m not able to pick out a favorite….you guys helped me to deal with all emotions in my life ❤thanks and bless you for making millions of people happy ❤️❤️❤️❤️…“just turn yorself into anything you want to be-be free….“🙏🍀❤️
Four friends who got together and lived a life they loved until one of them passed away. They protected each other and did everything to make sure everyone had equal input. It's no wonder the remaining three are trying to get back on the road again with Adam Lambert. They just love music.
John Deacon didn't do anything else with Queen after the video for No One But You in 1997. If you haven't seen it, you should. It's amazing and sad and a work of magic.
Mark Stanford Deacon said there is no Queen without Freddie and decided to retire. I can’t even imagine Deacy playing bass with AL Sure, Queen is still packing stadiums but I think the majority of fans are there to see May and Taylor. Not AL!! Freddie was flamboyant but in a classic way. Not feathers and glitter. Even if Freddie had lived, I don’t think he would have made it so open he was gay like AL does. Freddie had way too much class. Besides, he would have never given the press the overtly gay look AL gives because Freddie’s life was so private.
Divna vremena u punom sastavu. Muzika nebeska gitara Brajane bez greške Roger savršeno daje ritam bubnjeva. Nezaboravljen.trenutak i večnost doba u vremenu i prostoru Jon kao i obično vrh a Fredijevog nebeski glas uvijek među nama 💖
This post is for real Queen fans only: I think the most understated, underrated and least appreciated bassist in all Rock 'n' Roll is John Deacon. Queen could not have done what they did without him. He laid a foundation like no other could. He lent them the platform they leapt from. I can toss out some names: Paul McCartney, the originalist (he both defined and perfected the style); Jermaine Jackson, the grooviest; Bootsie Collins, the funkiest; Stu Hamm, the futurist; John Patitucci, the jazziest; Billy Sheehan, the technichalist; Stanley Clark, the granddaddyist of them all. All that shit put together hardly holds a candle to 'another one bites the dust'. So pure. Look it up, listen again, every 2 measures he changes the riff, never plays the exact same 8 notes in a row twice throughout but displays the illusion of doing so constantly. Simplicity and complexity wound together. Then look up 'dragon attack', where he straight lays it down. After that, listen to anything by Queen and try to tell me you can't hear John holding it all together. Best R&R vocalist ever? Freddie, duh. The queen. Greatest, most influential guitarist alive? Well, that would probably be Brian. Coolest singing drummer? Let's see, there's Phil and Don and that guy from the Dead, but no. It must be Roger because I really am in love with my car. (I got a classic 4x4.) Greatest bassist, then? Kidding? Do the math... =John Deacon
@@Napthalicious Appreciate your words, today and one month ago. Thank you again. I know 'nothing' about technically appreciating musicians. I know all about having my emotions blown away with pleasure by what I hear, feel, and see, etc. I love the heart and soul the Queen 'boys' Deaky and the others put into their work. And what you wrote, - wow. I'll enjoy casually finding out more about what your 'essay' introduced to me. It's that simple. All the best.
You can see it written all over Brian and Roger's face that they were being eaten up with Freddie's 'secret'. Of course, they couldn't tell anyone, either. Had to have been maddening for all of them.
It pushed Brian to the brink of suicide in 89. He was already depressed over his failed marriage, and then watching Freddie die almost done it. He's spoken of it very few times. Now, with the interviews of the movie, Brian looks like he's grieving all over again.
So glad I found this footage. Ive been watching clips for weeks now and some how missed this one. They were all so great together. It's wonderful to watch Freddie continue to work all the way to the end. Miss him so!!! FOREVER A LEGAND DARLING
I saw you twice Freddie in 1977 and 1982....GREATEST BAND EVER PERFORMED. We love and miss you. You four were great friends. They all protected this legend, Freddie Mercury. A genius, a life gone too short. Rest in peace.
As I read comments in regards to this video and Queen, I notice there are a few people who are still taking jabs at both Brian May and Roger Taylor for their choice to keep Queen's legacy alive and well, while John stands back. His choice to walk away was his own and he didn't fault Brian and Roger for continuing. He moved on for many reasons, seeing no real urge or need to keep making music without Freddie- again his own choice and while grieving, both Brian and Roger felt the same. They had no intention of continuing but the fates put chances in their laps to share their music with younger generations. Never would any of the band think to use Freddie for their own financial gain at any time. Brian and Roger even talked with him regarding their solo careers before his death, always, always making sure to share ideas and never leave him in the dark, nor John. This band, to me has shown more loyalty over the years than any other ive come to love. They were and always will be a family. That being said, i truly believe that in some quiet, private location, John will spend an evening with Brian & Roger reminiscing maybe or just catching up. I don't think there is a rif in their friendship, i dont think hes still depressed. I think John simply wanted out- an accidental rockstar who never liked touring, nearly lost his own marriage and then lost the one person who gave him the courage to head on stage every show. God bless them all, the amazing men they are ❤
I couldn't have said it better. Brian and Roger continuing to tour with Adam Lambert gave me the opportunity to see them in 2022, and what a fantastic concert it was. Thank you for your comment !
Love this mini-documentary! Can't believe I never saw it before. I like that Roger went back to Ludwig drums for this album. I always thought they were a key component to his signature style/sound. The Yamaha set sounded ok, but a bit flat to me. You can definitely hear a difference, a very classic sound on this 'back to the classic Queen' album. Innuendo is brilliant!
Wonderful video, and I thank you for it. I am in my 50's and grew up with Queen. Our high school band played so many of their songs. They are a big part of the soundtrack of my life. I will always and forever love them. I miss Freddie so very much. I like Adam, but Freddie Mercury is really irreplaceable. As Freddie sang it, show must go on.
Thank you for posting this,I really needed it. Since the 24th I have been pretty down. Freddie was extraordinary, course they all were. I knew in 73 I was hearing a one of a kind. I was right.
True probably. They have found new drugs and people living much longer. Same thing happened to my friend. He had hopes that they would find a cure before it was too late. Sadly it did not happen. I am glad we have the video's and that people have taken time to post them. This one is great. Thank you for posting it. I never get tired of watching. Freddie still a star so many years later. 💝
Props to Jim Beach. He’s always looking in the corner protecting the Queen brand. I saw Queen and Paul Rodgers in NY back in 06, their first date in America in over 20 years, and was smitten to see him wander out and watch the show from the side of the stage on floor level where I was standing. I wanted to say hi but was too nervous.
Tony Di Pietro It amuses me when people criticize the film for all these supposed inaccuracies, because the more you watch it, and the more you study Queen’s docs and interviews and autobiographical books, the more you see how accurate it actually is - with of course some artistic license for the sake of storyline and storytelling. Jim Beach’s portrayal in the film is exactly as you described him in your lovely words. Ever present, always in their corner, always protecting and shepherding Queen through every iteration and every challenge. I LOVE 💕 the scene where he stands in the wings with Prenter and Mary during that “BoRhap Live In Concert” scene and sings along as the song ends. Well played onscreen portrayal of who Jim Beach was and still is.
Freddie I love and miss you so much! I would gladly share my T- cells with you if you'd come back for a little while longer. The world is not as happy as it was since you left. Thank you for the most amazing music ever recorded!
Headlong is one of those songs you just have to sing along to and loud! It just grabs you! Great, great song. Innuendo, the song and album are a musical masterpiece. Powerful lyrics!
Wonderful collection! So bittersweet yet well done. How these gents rallied together to create such a fantastic and meaningful album is a testament to not just their professional approach to their craft, but to their integrity as people. Freddie facing terrible, his mates facing inevitable.... and in their own ways, they got on with it! All brave souls and dear friends. Good examples for all of us. Will Never forget you Freddie, bless them all!
Not only did Mercury keep working as his health declined: he remained Queen's leading force and main contributor. Innuendo is mainly his, then Slightly Mad, Don't Try So Hard, Delilah. He brought All God's People from previous sessions. He was a big contributor to Hitman and Bijou. So, pretty much half of the album on a 4-member band, which was in line with previous works. For all the talk about "keep writing me stuff", Queen's final full song, A Winter's Tale, was completely his, then Mother Love was a collaboration with May. He didn't limit himself to singing stuff, but kept working on his own compositions, and I think that's what kept him going for so long.
Fino alla fine la sua voce ha risposto ad ogni nota Così come il fascino dell uomo Ti amo veramente tanto e i Queen la migliore band di tutti i tempi ❤
Amazing Album 👌 I always think how Freddy and the band put everything they had into it knowing it was going to be there last together. Show must go on hits me every time.

Notice how he got thinner just from this Innuendo documentary to the filming of I'm going slightly mad and These are the days of our lives videos from the same album. Then still they made one of the best albums that year if not the best.

@@davidroest, thank you, for helping me, with my comment.
Bass players... 🙂
You can see John made a huge effort to step and do interviews etc for the Miracle and Innuendo albums to distract from the fact that Freddie did not want to talk to the media.
They all protected him. Could not be easy for them to cover the way they did.
How did Mercury have the energy to do the Innuendo videos? Amazing and brave commitment.
Mercury was a great craftsman.
And the video editing is amazing. Just look at this EPK.
Because he was Freddie Fucking Mercury....thats why.
That Guy On The Street wow yeah. That’s why they stopped touring in 86, he said he was toast.
Queen the most complete band of all time
💯
At the first time I heard it exactly that way! Seriously just the best band ! I've been relocated away from my family and quarantine for so long sick as I've ever been,;;;
But I said most of my time watching video after video, and still keep finding some I haven't seen ;!! Only wish we could see more of John
Beatles for me
Never was there a better or finer vocalist on the planet! He was so ill yet maintained phenomenal pitch perfected notes with strength, passion and vitality. 'These are the Days of Our Lives' and 'The Show Must Go On' are difficult to listen to without tearing up.
I get the chills whenever I listen to The Show Must Go On and Mother Love,
Same here...I can't listen to those songs without tears running down my face. Its been 27 years but I still miss him
Try Ian Gillan..
@@maximilienrigobert4189No Gillan! No! He's ugly clown now. We're say about art of singing, lovely power of voice. Gillan - hard energy, nervous tears no stright soul
@@natalchuk Come on, check how he can be powerfull with black sabbath ( disturbing the priest, born again )
Or romantic and versatile in "gethsemane", or how he can play with his voice against Richi Blackmore's guitar in live in japan. Ian Gillan is surely underestimated. And Freddy was Huge too.
Freddie was definitely frail but that magnificent voice couldn't be more powerful.
Because he stopped smoking and his voice improved a lot.
No he wasnt frail
@@Pascalsmit1971 also she gave him advice on how to make his voice more powerful and it shows on the next queen album miracle
Freddie was so ill but yet he still gave it his all vocally. Music making and the continuous prosperity of the other band members meant everything to him. And the way that John,Brian, and Roger protected Freddie was just unbelievable. We would be lucky to have one such friend in life....Freddie had at least three.
JR S
AMIGOS VERDADEROS ...
Yes, you can see that protective wall even in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. They made sure his legacy wasn’t tainted. True friends 😍
"Just get on with it, otherwise I'll forget my name and..." YOU JUST HAVE TO LOVE HIM.
15:19 look at the date, 1 year and a day later Freddie will leave this world... :(
Juan José Barrantes thats sadly true
😢😢😢😢😢😢
Still he is a happy disposition in life....😭
Juan José Barrantes 😭😭
The date actually was 1 yr and 1 day before he died
You can see the shift in band dynamics, knowing this would be the last album they made together. They are enjoying working with each other and making the most of it, unlike the late 70's/early 80's when they were bickering a lot. Freddie clearly kept his sense of humour which made it less tragic than it might have been.
Well technically Freddie did start Made In Heaven with them
I think they broke new ground w/this record , it's a shame it was the end of the road ...... some really hard hitting songs it offered.
@Andy Salter -- Yeah, but Brian must have had Fred in mind while writing it... you know?
@@darrahlane5975 he did....he said it in an interview that all the songs of the album were influenced by the fact that they knew Freddie was very ill.
@@Nina-oi1qk thank you. It's all so very sad. They knew the end was near and it was nearly over for him/them together.
hazor777 it’s beautiful. Incredible!
My favourite Queen song
Freddie's last recordings and He Sings His Ass off . Hard to believe he was so sick and could still pull off those amazing vocal parts . Listen to his voice in The show must go on . Unbelievably excellent.
I always thought Mother Love was the last recording of Freddie
@@pugsleytattoos3631 It was. He couldn't finish it, said he would come back later but he never came back and Brian sang the last verse.
Pugsley tattoos yeah he recorded three more songs after Innuendo - Mother Love, A Winters Tale (the only Queen song to be recorded in one take which wasn’t the case for TSMGO) and what would eventually be You Don’t Fool Me.
@@Solo-vh9fm Sleeping On The Sidewalk was also done in one take
Made in Heaven was the final album, not this.
For me innuendo the song is haunting.
Very other world.

Queen at its best
Roger Taylor: "It's richer, and it has more depth"
Freddie Mercury: "He used to be a man with a stick in his hand
Hoop diddy diddy hoop diddy do
She used to be a woman with a hot dog stand
Hoop diddy diddy hoop diddy do"
I find myself singing HOOP DIDDY DIDDY HOOP DIDDY DOO at times during night when I work. It brings me to my happy place

@Andrew Black Yes but he wasn't the only one to blame. Some of his partners were way, WAY more sexually out of control and more than one knew they were HIV pos when they went with Freddie.
@@redfield1007 not funny :)
Love You Fred.
well they didn't really have to work around him. Freddie put in as much work as he ever did with a queen album.
That bonding hold them up.
I don't know why but I just love at 14:40 when Freddie looks away when the song says "when I look". I find that so pleasing to watch.
Axl would be ashamed if he heard that Queen is being dissed over his band.
It seems like it was the best moment of the band in every aspect. Only if Fred survived that canonical disease...
Thanks for commenting.
parkviewmo you are either a woman or a gay man.
Gabriel Mathus best moment was "News of the World", "Jazz", & "The Game".
Not going to enter into that discussion, but the term I use and the clause is quite subjective. It's one of the greatest albums for me, and for you Jazz it's one of their greatests albums. It's a subjective opinion, so it can't actually be proved in it's full extent.

Well said. Although I think Brian always had the Pre-Raphaelite look since Queen's early years. ☺
We all keep going as if .....😳
THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!!
Gotta remember this is NOT freddie's goodbye song. That was "Was it all worth it?" on The Miracle. Brian wrote The show must go on.
ADRENNE
I’ll face it with a grin
I’m never giving in
He finally had to give in sadly. We miss you Freddie and..we still love you 😢
I think they always loved each other but here the reality has slapped them in the face we are losing Freddie who we love as a brother and the petty bickering just fell by the side and did not matter brothers bicker it happens they were different musically but the same emotionally they cared for one another
Queen was a perfect and beautiful blending of 4 amazing singers/songwriters/magicians. I love them all.
Show must go on = Freddie's Requiem.
Actually it was Was it all worth it on The Miracle because the doctors told Freddie he would live till 89. But he lived till 91
Because of 'Was It All Worth It', I was surprised when the album 'Innuendo' appeared.
Planet Earth lost a GENIUS.
i’m sure he would’ve loved the We Will Rock You musical
I can’t imagine Freddie’s pain just doing these videos. He’s already frail.😢💔 Btw, Brian you are a phenomenal guitar player.
Innuendo is a vastly underrated album. A work of art.
That voice is so magical! Queen is four lovable misfits whom belong to us.
God, The Show Must Go On has got to be one of The best songs of all time, and an amazing testament of Freddie’s will , we still love you Freddie

Four friends who got together and lived a life they loved until one of them passed away. They protected each other and did everything to make sure everyone had equal input. It's no wonder the remaining three are trying to get back on the road again with Adam Lambert. They just love music.
Um. The remaining 2 are back on the road with Lambert

This post is for real Queen fans only:
I think the most understated, underrated and least appreciated bassist in all Rock 'n' Roll is John Deacon.
(I got a classic 4x4.)
Greatest bassist, then?
Kidding? Do the math...
=John Deacon

You can see it written all over Brian and Roger's face that they were being eaten up with Freddie's 'secret'. Of course, they couldn't tell anyone, either. Had to have been maddening for all of them.
michael warren its not that they want to tell someone, it's the fact Freddie was dying and they couldn't stop it.
It pushed Brian to the brink of suicide in 89. He was already depressed over his failed marriage, and then watching Freddie die almost done it. He's spoken of it very few times. Now, with the interviews of the movie, Brian looks like he's grieving all over again.
they way the worded things too also gave that they really wanted to make this album mean something for it was the last album with freddie

God bless them all, the amazing men they are ❤
Как хорошо Вы сказали. Спасибо. WUEEN FOREVER !!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Ludwig drums are the classic sound of Queen, the best, Yamaha set lacks of meat.
he only used the yamaha recording custom (9000 series) for the magic tour; no album is recorded with the yammies

What is most upsetting is there was an interview that May said if Freddie got sick 1 year later he would still be alive today!
True probably. They have found new drugs and people living much longer. Same thing happened to my friend. He had hopes that they would find a cure before it was too late. Sadly it did not happen.

One of best albums by Queen!!! Epic & Gorgeous!!! Quintessential & Requiem...

Me: I would die for you, sir
Agreed! I too would die for you, sir.
It’s very fitting that decades after Freddy’s death, Queen still rules the world!!!!!!
When Brian said "It could die a death or people could take a chance..." about Innuendo
And it went to number 1!!!
Just like Bohemian Rhapsody
Freddie so courageous knew he was dying but carried on with his perfect vocals never moaned once brilliant innuendo
Despite Roger writing Days Of Our Lives, it still sounds like a goodbye from Freddie.
I personally believe 1990 and 1991 was John's prime, he was so handsome
yupp
"The spark that leads to that extra edge, Brian!" ... so right! Friction brings creativity! This is so insanely good.
Innuendo is most definitely my favourite studio album from Queen. So rich, rocky, with elements of reflection
Freddy's chops were top notch in this one. Top shelf indeed. Does one feel he knew time was short? Perhaps, and also tragic if so.
You know, if I live to see successful time travel, I know exactly where and when I’m going
👑👑Thank you Queen,unforgettable band!!👑👑
While everyone else is focused on what Brian is saying, I just want to touch his hair. Is there something wrong with me??
I want too
Me, too! Brian's hair looks so soft.
Almost every one of their songs is a masterpiece, no one writes and plays such music anymore
So true & sad at the same time
last time I seen this, was over 10 years ago! Thank you for this.
This was the first album that I ever brought.. still one of my favorites
Amazing Album 👌 I always think how Freddy and the band put everything they had into it knowing it was going to be there last together. Show must go on hits me every time.
One of the greatest Queen albums ever. Freddie so brave...not at his best and still rocking the world with amazing performances and great sense of humor. Notice how he got thinner just from this Innuendo documentary to the filming of I'm going slightly mad and These are the days of our lives videos from the same album. Then still they made one of the best albums that year if not the best.
Ich bin soooo stolz, was Queen alles in ihrer Karriere erreicht haben. Ich gönne ihnen ALLES. Sie haben mir in meinem Leben soooooooooo viel gegeben
DANKE
i love what they put headlong in the video,
Freddie still being witty af here. “I’m Kim Basigner” 😭 hilarious.
Time full of love in their band work process. Beautiful, lucky us, they filmed the process
I’ve never seen this!! I’ve seen clips from this but not the whole thing........ what on earth was I thinking. Lol.
2018...sounds like he still alive...(freddie mercury)
2020... I am still listening to Queen & Freddie Mercury
lol, Elton... must have done a few bumps before that interview :P
