One of Sam's best lines from this season (and the entire series) is missed in this montage. When Frasier threatens Sam with a gun, Sam tells Frasier that he best forget about Diane and move on. Frasier: "Oh, I'll forget about her alright when the moon turns to dust and the birds sing nevermore." Sam's response: "Hey, there ya go," and pats Frasier on the back.

Loved the Sam/Diane dynamic till the end, but nothing can top that first year. Listened to an interview with Ken Levine and David Isaacs who said the audience reaction to that final kiss in Season 1 was explosive. They said that no matter what would come next, the Sam/Diane story peaked at that moment. Have to agree.

She was crazy but the show suffered after she left. Shelley Long was the best actor on the show imo
