I just bought a new 2023 XT 250 and 5th is not enough for the road for sure. I am looking into doing your mod to mine, but I am curious how much low end torque did you give up was it very noticeable ? Also do you have links for the parts?? Thanks I have had my bike less than a week and the top end is just short of where it needs to be.

Check out the description in this clip.

As far as I can tell it didn't make a huge difference in low end torque loss. But I'm pretty short and light so results may vary. I'm still enjoying the Procycle wheels very much. Favorite mod thus far on my XT.

Cool. Did you check the speedo against a GPS clock? Your Speedo might actually read low now.

Yamaha doesn't want people driving that fast on their little putt-putt.

Yeah, I think it gets a bit sketchy going that fast sustained. But nice to know it can for passing.

How much do SM wheels effect gearing?

I'm a novice when it comes to gearing, but learning as I go. The change to 17" sized wheels changed the bikes gearing dynamics a lot in my opinion. My speedo went to about 8-10mph off and the ride felt like I was revving out the engine but traveling like a turtle down the road. So changing out the sprockets is a definite must. I'm about to do a follow up video (weather permitting) sharing my experience with how all that went and a wrap up on how the wheels are doing.

I'd have gone faster on the 2nd acceleration but a dumb box truck 🚚 😒 pulled out in front of me. I think on a flat run, no windage, and tucked I could get it to 75mph true speed. But the front wheel starts tap dancing slightly at that speed as the XT is starting to leave the earth's gravitational pull 😬☄. But I just simply lean into the steering and it re-plants itself and smooths out a bit. I definitely don't cruise around at that speed. Fun to see what it can do though on occasion.

I’d say you are doing 7 miles per hr faster than my bike and acceleration seems better… I weigh a lot more so it takes a min before I max out.

Cool. Yeah, I've noticed it now zips right up to speed quick. I guess my featherweight is a bit cheating. With all my gear I'm at 155lbs-ish.
