O-ring throttle assist/lock- Honda CB500X...😎🌅

  • Was looking for something to let me rest my throttle hand on occasion and pump some blood back in it to combat numbness and tingling. Reviewed 'numerous' cheap to very expensive throttle lock gadgets. Then I saw postings on You Tube for this cheap and easy idea. It actually works. I realize safety is paramount and would only apply the o-ring when its clean & clear ahead. I could see the o-ring losing its elasticity over time, but for as cheap as it is why not pick up a few. For it to work you'll need a small gap between a bar end and the throttle tube so this fix isn't for all bikes. Sure works on a CB500X with Barkbusters though 😉👌

I've go the exact same bike including the Bark Busters. Thanks for the vid. Are you using stock grips in the vid, they look a bit thicker than mine?

Yes, I left the oem grips on. Then I just slipped a pair of Grip Puppies over them. They really help with reducing or at least dampening the felt handlebar to hand bike vibration. I use them on all my bikes now. Cheap and are sold on Amazon. They do feel weird at first, but once you get use to them they are great.

What kind of hand guards are you using? I have Bark Busters and the spacer between the bar end and the throttle is too wide for the washer to sit between tight. Are you still using the factory bar ends?

After riding a bit more with this I'm going to call it a 'throttle assist' as in reality its not capable of locking your throttle. It keeps the throttle in place good sometimes and sometimes it will slowly slip right away. Outdoor temperatures surely will have an effect as the material expands/contracts with heat/cold. But none the less for what it is and low cost I'll take it 🖐
***UPDATE*** Now that I've used this a while I definitely like it and it's a very worthy accessory. One thing I would make a practice of is once your finished riding slip the oring into the engaged position, but with the throttle closed obviously. This helps keep the oring tighter and keep its shape. I noticed the times I left the oring wrapped around my bar end weight and left it sitting in the garage it would make the oring more loose when I went to use it. But so far so good. I just ordered a spare oring I like it so much.

Nice! Im thinking of using this for my Honda NC700X. Its basically the same idea as a Kaoko throttle lock. Has it ever felt like it got stuck or was unsafe?

Cool, hope it works for you as well. No it has never gotten weirdly stuck and I've never felt unsafe. I only apply it while out on long stretches. It definately helps give your throttle hand a break to just drop it and pump it for blood flow. Very happy with this cheap little mod. Still using the same original one too.

@@RajReviewsDualSportPhotoGadget Its a pretty short theme tune. Maybe they don't have real music category status? Not sure. That came from a Galaxy S10 photo editor titled 'Smooth Funk'.
