Same, something reminded me and made me want to look up the song and listen to it again. I found the production version, but you can’t deny the rawness of this version. 💯
Recall watching this as a kid and thinking it was another Chapelle skit. Laughed at first with my brother. By the end it shook me and I often think of this song in my daily life. Chapelle Show is underrated for moments like this.
This came out when I was 13-14 now that I’m in my 30’s I can’t believe they let this air. Kind of gives me hope tbh. Everything he is saying is 100% correct
Around 2003 or so you could still have interesting and controversial music videos on cable. Nowadays some group or another will try to shut you down. I dont like modern media.

The good old days Chappelle was a big backbone of comedy that helped us through rough times for me and my family growing up in Dallas.. rip Johnathan.. I can't believe how fast it all flew by... Dam...
I saw this when it first air as a boy. This song, this version particular, has influenced my political considerations more than any teacher, politician, or member of my community ever has.
@@91Definite i pretty much agreed with you at one point -- hearing the rap verse on there definitely threw me off the first time i heard it -- but it gradually grew on me and i love it now
He speaks for all of us. Regardless of race or creed anyone who speaks truth against the regime will suffer. That's how we know we aren't free. Never were.
I've watched this many times throughout the years and it's as impactful as the 1st, this should have millions of more views but I for 1 will always come back
I am so thankful for the high-definition picture quality of this song and performance that have moved me so deeply for the past 18 years. I'm also very pleased to be reminded of the gambling show Bonzai.
I forgot about this (I don't know how) but I just saw it again on a Dave Chappelle rerun. It's amazing, I was getting chills. I hope the younger people are paying attention!
Listening to this in the first month of 2024. Ate an 8th of some mushrooms going into the new year, the trip started getting a bit intense. I decided to cut on the tv at about 3am in the first few hours of 2024 to see the end of a Dave Chappell episode that I hadn’t seen in probably 15 years, than this song started playing and a whirlwind of nostalgia came to me. This song hits so much different being a 30 year old husband and father compared to being a junior in highschool. Took me to a really good place mentally. This live version is much more raw than the studio recorded version, minus the insane acoustic solo wyclef Jean played for the poor at the end.
Best version of the song. This has stuck with me ever since the first time this episode aired
Same here
Same we're getting to old
Same here ,no doubt

This went over my head when I was younger. Revisiting it with a new brain & set of ears, you wonder how this made it to tv. Love this.

This is just how revolutionary Chapelle Show was. It was your generation's Arsenio Hall. He did the same thing back in the 90s

The passion in his voice in this performance is legendary.
Can’t help but shed a tear when listening to this...

Song absolutely took me and shook me when I heard it on the show when it first aired. Still hits.
Still hits because it's been 20 years and nothing has changed.
I’m still feeling this in 2023 “I know some so poor - that when it rains that’s when they shower😢. Powerful “
Best version of the song
You have exited reality
Then what’s the best version ?
I still remember seeing this when it aired...I was in highschool. So powerful.
His head shaking made me feel this so deep as a kid when this aired.... always stuck with me.. Wyclef doesn't get enough love.
How does this only have 10k views? One of his best performances
Big Brother is watching.
It gained like 80k views since you posted. This song hits different man

Not saying much.
“They’ll call you Krazy when they can’t call you a liar.”
That’s the truth right there!
It's songs like this that remind me why I'm disenfranchised like millions of others.
It's 2023 about to be 2024 and I'm still jamming to this!

Best version by far
I know in my heart that when people see and hear the truth the world will change. Why else would they hide it from us.
It’s still on
This performance helped shape my childhood.
this and the Kanye/Common performance were so heavy!
Wyclef’s so soulful and it shows in his jamz. This jam here is 🔥🔥 and it couldn’t be sung by a better person. Wyclef Jean’s the man!!!
Been looking for this for years !!!! Love this

I'm also very pleased to be reminded of the gambling show Bonzai.
I don't remember Bonzai very clearly. I remember "Place your bets now, how long will David Letterman continue to shake this guy's hand"
"Screamin fight the poweeerrrr, that's when the vulture devours"
I’m here in 2022. And yes, this version is the hardest one.
2023. Wyclef is a genius.
I love this song one of my favs!!!
Words with meaning
wyclef for president. realest shit he ever wrote.
So sad to see that never end... Your lyrics tell the truth, even now in 2021 with the president assasination...

And I’m still in amazement this didn’t come to fruition when Obama was President. I know it wasn’t for lack of a lot of people wishing it’d happen
Obama did more for everyone else than black people
