Blows my mind that the Thompson twins are such good athletes with great IQ that they can immediately be elite defenders. I’ll take Amens constant all around play vs Jalen’s occasional offense.
It must be just amazing to play with him. He is always thinking about making the pass and knows where everyone is at all times. Really is fun to watch.
I agree with you Frank Amen should start and your right he does gives us easy shots. One of the reasons is because instead of standing around he either cuts to the basket and gets a bucket from a Sengun pass He always around the dunker spot.So whenever he that close guys can drive and either kick it to him for a easy dunk or if they misses it he always there to get the rebound He like a combo guard/wing. I just think Amen needs to start because of his defense rebounding and energy. He sort of has that Tari like energy a bit. Can’t wait to see Amen play tomorrow against OKC
JG some of the more passionate/polarizing fans in the entire league. I don’t think he’s garbage like some but with that said he’s not starter level on a good team. He is what , which is a good bench player maybe even a great 6th man. He’s undersized below avg defender who can explode for mvp level statistical Games every now and then. He will have a 30/8/6 game but follow it up with a 8/4/4 on 25% shooting on 15+ attempts. I look at the numbers most nights and he’s got 14/5/4 and he’s 5/14 shooting and 2/8 on threes. That’s like a consistent as JG gets and that’s not starter level that’s actually hurting the team. My fear is he won’t understand who he is for a few years and it won’t be on the rockets. We should have flipped him last offseason but I understand why we didn’t. I doubt the Rockets can get any better than a late 1st for him at this point. I’d like to see him come off the bench but he won’t accept that imo. He’s shown me enough to we’re baring him being one of those rare players who drastically gets better at age 25 in there 6-7th season which is extremely rare. He’s really just a microwave guard who comes of the bench. He’s not terrible but he’s a bust for being the 2nd overall pick. Tari Amen and Cam have already shown there much better players then he is.
It's becoming obvious that Jalen isn't part of the Rockets core anymore, as he isn't finishing games anymore with the team. Thankfully, with Amen, Cam, Tari, Jabari, and Sengun, we have enough for the starting core going forward without Jalen.
This is why I don't see a future with Jalen on this team. Amen has to start by next season. The Rockets have a 19 year old version of Jalen, who's a more effecient scorer in Cam. Cam & Amen are building chemistry together on offense. Another year together & these 2 will be scary good.
Initially i wanted jalen to be benched but i get it now from the front office perspective. They need to preserve jalen’s value so that they can TRADE that mfer. They need to trade him because his archetype of player cannot succeed as a main part of a team. He’s like the new version of zach lavine.
Exactly bro, whilst those who know knows Jalen is done as a franchise player who can lead, all we need is to find that 1 sucker who are willing to cough up assets for him
The kid was born to play basketball. That combination of next level iq and athleticism don't grow on trees. And i see him as a point forward. He fits the profile of the great point forwards, the most elite of whom did not arrive as great shooters.

Good video. Just a question. What are your reservations, if any, about putting Cam in the starting lineup for offense? I thought he would be the best rookie to start if Udoka decides to make a lineup change because we are so poor offensively at times. But I agree, there’s a compelling case to start Amen as well.
Ime didn't change the starting lineup but he changed the minutes distribution. That's all he needed to do. Now the players feel like they have a better chance to win without some players making dumb plays all the time. That's quite an obstacle. Brooks and Jalen 20 minutes each and Tate no minutes.
Amen definitely needs more minutes. It's especially exciting to watch him paired with Cam. Those two are going to be quite the dynamic duo in the future!
Great video. You really made a great case for him to be starting over Green. That and Green could pick apart 2nd unit players as the primary ball handler, but alas I do get the politics behind it. If he keeps on improving a bit overall and develops a clean jumper and 3 ball then he is in superstar territory for sure.
Amen and Tari are the guys that can turn defense into offense. That helps a lot with our lack of shooting since Raphael Stone did not get any at the trade deadline.
Bro your content is informative but the background music I’m not understanding why. It really takes away from the impact of your content. That’s why we’re here. I see you’ve brought down the volume because it was much louder. I’m looking at a lot of content online I’ve never seen any use it so often. Good content well spoken and delivered always. I agree. I posted yesterday on X that he needs to start and bring Green in off the bench at some point. Greens fg % is too low at 40% to be a starter. Amen is shooting 52% and has a better grasp of the offense and defensively is consistent. Always around the ball. He needs to be in there 30 plus minutes a game if they are serious about making a run this year
Amen is simply elite. I wouldn't support the move of giving him the starting spot over JG because we all now what the consequences are gonna be in terms of player office relationship but rather try to find a home for him during the off season and start Amen next season to have this starting lineup. - FVV - Amen - Tari - Bari - Sengun
Iggy on the Sixers or the Warriors, because Sixers Iggy was a scorer .. on the warriors he was more of a 2 way connective piece … I think amen is far more dynamic
We have been sorely missing Tari, but Amen has been doing almost exactly what we had been missing from Tari, except shooting 3s, for a while now. Using him this way is one of the few occasions Ime thinking out of the box throughout this year.
Great pod Frank. I agree it's time to move Amen to starter, but you can't sit Jalen without killing his trade value and we need to keep his value as high as possible till the off season. I think the die has been cast on Jalen. he's trade bait. I would like to see if the Rokets can offer this years Nets pick or Jalen for Amens brother.
I agree with everything you say. I was at the game Friday and see it and feel the energy change when Amen is in there. I compare Jalen to Lou Williams he's not a starter for a championship team but can be a heck of a 6th man. Just my opnion
I noticed the Rockets doing some drive and kick outs to Jabari at the 3 point line. It's about time. Having Jalen play within the flow of the offense is going to make him more efficient and we can all finally get off his case. I'm sure he will be happy with that. All he has to do is be more efficient and he will be more useful to us and not hurting the teams chances to win.
I’ve been saying this since his draft that he has become the future for this team from the guard position. When you add in Tari Eason, this team is just about set. Side note, I’ve been saying Evan Mobley was the draft pick over Jalen Green and then choosing to play Kevin Porter Jr over John Wall would ruin Jalen Green’s development.
Before there was the term "wing" you called Amen a point forward. Given his lack of shooting you have to pair him with a shooting point guard - which is fine, you can put him out there with Fred or Holiday. I would not play him with Jalen but you could play him with Dillon if he's having a good shooting night. As far as Cam goes I want to see him on the court with every combination because I'm not sure who he complements the most. I do believe Amen is a more impactful player than Jalen on average. I like the mental makeup of this team with guys like Jabari and Amen. They are going to be the guys that will eventually have that "consistency" skill and always contribute in some way no matter who you are playing or how they are shooting etc. I know everyone wants to see Tari start but coming off the bench with energy is one of his skills. We need more shooters and a long big with some shooting and shot blocking. So this off-season I'm praying for the OKC pick to drop to the 1 spot and get Sarr and use the NJ pick for Reed Shepard. I want Udoka to use more movement on offense and I want see if Sengun can move around more and play the 4 spot.
'"@@arealgem9404 He is a point guard/shooting guard for Kentucky. 6'3" - essentially he is a VaVleet clone. He is probably the best shooter in this draft. He is shooting over 50% from three and a lot of those are NBA threes. He's smart and plays surprisingly good defense and is probably better driving to the basket than Fred. His floor is really high and his upside is a better version of VenVleet. The Rockets will probably want to shed Fed's contract in a couple of seasons and the timing is perfect to just move Shepard in as Fred leaves. From watching Shepard play - he is exactly what Udoka would look for - all hustle all the time, smart, and a great shooter.
I hope tari can come back from his mysterious injury soon and win a role in our starting lineup: fvv Amen Bari (sf) Tari Goon Let dillon, jalen and can off the bench.
As long as ppl understand that the Thomson twins arnt franchise players....they do however have the chance to be huge contributors on championship teams. Kinda like Kirilenko and taysean prince
lol if he could get a jumper... His future is already great, I mean what he does defensivly and rebounds and fast breaks. But a jumper just would put him on that crazy super star tier.
Amen is doing great off the bench and he did improve so much within few games he did start when FVV was out. I would still start him off the bench but bring him out quickly once we are getting blown out. Don’t wait till we’re down 16 😂
I swear, more people passionate about certain players. This season has been baffling. Even in the comment section we have someone passionate defending stone. Only thing missing is someone saying "if silas was coaching, he would have us in the 6th seed".
Amen's injury extended Jalen's runway a little bit. Thompson should really start over Green, but that would poison the water. Once they do that (and they should) they have to trade Jalen. Psychologically, he seems like the kind who would become a cancer in the locker room.
I dont get why Rockets fans have to pit our players against one another. It's really weird. Main reason I wanted Amen in the draft is because I believe he had generational potential and I also think he will be our best player in due time. With that being said, I like all six of our young core and we can keep them together for a lil while. Let them learn and grow together. Love this Rockets team.
The fact that you view saying 1 player should start over another as hating is telling. So we have 6 core players, who deosnt start and why do you hate them?
@ROCKETSCHOPSHOP I didn't say it was hating. I'm speaking to Rockets fans thinking that we have to move on from certain players because of who they prefer and that is definitely a thing, especially on Twitter. Have seen it with Sengun and Jalen. Fred won't be here past next season because of his price tag. We need to develop our young guys and move off of Fred and Brooks next season. You don't bench your second pick for a guy who has only made us somewhat better who will be gone after next season. Fred and Brooks are place fillers. Plus benching Green would decrease trade value. Brooks defense hasn't been good for months and either Cam or Jalen should have closed in his place last night, because they outplayed him.
Oh Damn Frank...I wonder who drafted this special player? Doesn't Ime decide who plays and how they play as a team? At least you didn't bash Stone this time. Good breakdown of Amen.
Amen is a udoka guy , stone had to pick him but cam whitmore was a udoka guy also , they are both dawgs , udoka type players , Jalen was drafted by stone , he is not a dog that’s why you see Jalen being benched down the stretch
@SCHOPSHOP Oh I do...But the only in-season effect Stone has is the trade deadline and most deals happen during the offseason, but you know that. Wouldn't you say that it is the coaches job how the players are used during the season? Is it either the GM or coaches fault that during their losing streak they had several key injuries? Were they not 15 and 12 (.556) in the first 27 games (pre injuries)? Were they not 10 and 19 (.345) in the next 29 games (with injuries)? Can you name a team that was forced into a total rebuild from the GM, coach and down to all the players... that has a .446 win rate after 3 years, built around drafting 18, 19 & 20 year-olds? Don't say Hakeem's Rockets...he was 22yo as a rookie. BTW Sengun is only 21. You're bashing of Stone is unrealistic. Stone's main duties are hiring the coach(s), drafting players, trading players, acquiring FAs, handling cap space and contracts, plus filling out front office and support personal...not coaching the team...not dealing out playing time...not choosing the playing style...but you know that. I have already commented a lot of things you know...Like Stone did not get nothing for the 3 late first rounders, Oladipo and those 2nd round picks. You know Stone secure a quality big man in Steven Adams before he was healthy and hit the open market, which might have kept the Rockets from acquiring him this coming offseason like what happen last offseason with Lopez. But you also know that! Trading to get Sengun was brilliant. We all know that by swapping Westbrook for the same Wall contract + one of the 1st rounders that got Sengun from OKC. Even using John Wall as a cap-space place holder so he didn't get trapped into an unwanted big contract was smart...he even used that strategy after the Lopez bid fell through by signing Landale to 3 extra non-guaranteed years that creates a good future trading chip without locking up cap space. Just like the other smart FA contracts of FVV and Brooks were intended to fill that NBA required minimum cap space, plus give the young players vets to teach them how to play in the NBA, but then those contracts will drop off the books when they will need that cap $$ to resign the rookies. Stone has positioned the Rockets very good throughout the entire rebuild...But you SHOULD know all of this...right? He even refilled our future 1st rounders with the Nets picks, which could be better than our own...but you know this. These are not signs that Tilman has Stone in a HOT SEAT as you say. Sorry to say that you are just be a hater and spreading it. You are very talented breaking down players and I appreciate that about you. You teach me somethings that I overlook especially how you dig into the player stats. I hope you read this because if you don't my opinion of you drops. Peace Go Rockets Great win Coogs...on their way to
Hold up wait a minute stop the presses. Tank you said my lineup on live was absolute garbage and trash. Fred, Amen, Tari, Bari, and Adams. You totally crucified my lineup and in hlthis here video you basically subbing out only Sengun. Plus you are hitting all the talking points I was saying that would make this work. I could clearly see without crunching the numbers that that lineup is gonna wreck havoc defensively because of their ability to disrupt, anticipate and have good IQ and instincts so the other team will not be hitting that many 3s. I'm telling you like I told you on the live that lineup is nasty. Quite honestly it get even nastier with a healthy adams rather than a Sengun. Wait til they play together and you crunch the numbers you'll see as you did here with alp and this lineup it's 6-7 percent better on offense but with Adams their 12-13 percent better on Defense rebounds and steals. And don't forget when we get more off reb, steals and transition buckets adams will be rim running and dunking so he may be offensively better in pnr and fast breaks which we'll have way more of. I'm quite beside myself that you called my lineup absolute garbage and tell everyone I don't deserve to even be speaking no more when you on here speaking the exact same "dream lineup" minus just adams. Not right sir. Plus you said Fred should be out and Amen should start at PG. Now you're switching up to what I said. Shamone man.
Anyone that disagrees with Amen starting and Green to the bench, that person is a loser. No winning mentality and wants to play politics with the team.
Not necessarily, from a long term perspective we are better served preserving Jalen green's trade value rather than winning a few more games. Now if we are currently a 6th seed that might be different
Also we would be better off developing someone as a 2 guard that we intend to keep as our 2 guard. Not Jalen. But there’s a couple names out there that can shoot say Cam or Tari. We should develop Amen as our point. He hopefully eventually can take the reins from Fred but he’s not there yet.
we are not trading for jalen green even tho hes a top talent we feel ausar will be a superstar . but i see i problem we both have with both twins. they play so hard they are always getting dinged up .
Once jalen trade in other this team is like a Toronto team a team with a player on defense like a Fred siakam aninuoby Barnes but they are always playin that what ime want in this team he pattern not win championship but playin only in playoff mark my word 3 years from now
But in all honesty making Amen a starter sends the wrong signal to Amen. In my opinion he needs to know he is not a starter until his shooting is improved. You can close games with him, but he should be required to earn that starting role with his shooting. Especially if he is starting as a 2 guard and not a point guard. If we’re looking at who should be a 2 guard either Tari or Cam is a better option and they both shoot. However, I am sure Stone will not allow Jalen to be benched because it destroys his value.
Imagine if the bucks had this mentality with giannis where they would be or where the warriors would be if they didn’t start draymond simply because he can’t shoot even though they impact the game in so many ways
@@ROCKETSCHOPSHOPdisagree in this situation and plenty of people would agree with me as well. Our current starting lineup is terrible 3 point shooting lineup. So why would you put in a worse 3 point shooter on a team that needs 3 point shooting especially when in theory you have Cam and Tari who are much better 3 point shooters. I don’t hate Amen. In fact I’m very very high on him. I’m also higher on Tari. And similar on Cam. And Amen if he is going to start (because of the poor shooting) I see him more effective as the point guard. Not a 2 guard. However, I don’t think the team would do so great without Fred as the starter at point. If we are going to develop someone other than Jalen as a 2 guard it does not make sense for it to be amen when we have Tari and Cam to develop and they are a better fit in that position now and long term. It’s just not the best decision to me. I do believe all 3 of these guys right now offer more than Jalen. So if Stone actually allows Ime to make a change I could see any of the 3 getting a shot if Tari is healthy. But I think ston care more about Jelens trade value than winning now. Again, I believe long term we should look to develop the person as a 2 guard that we intend to keep as a 2 guard. Long term Amen is a point guard unless he becomes a better shooter then he could play 1-3 if he can shoot.
@@williamwoods9669completely different scenarios and teams. If Amen was actually playing point guard and he had cam and tari as the 2 and 3 and Jabari as the 4, then it might be reasonable because he could drive and distribute to shooters. But since right now we have a lineup that sucks at shooting and we are discussing playing Amen at the 2 that only accentuates the fact that we can’t shoot. And I think everyone sees how bad we are without Fred starting. There are always multiple factors. If he comes in and is helping the team win, then he should be rewarded with closing the game. He has so much work to do on his mechanics and unfortunately I don’t see significant progress on his jump shot. But the biggest reason is we have other guys who already shoot better and have just as much potential in Cam and Tari. It’s just my belief based on Amens skill set it’s far better to continue to develop him as a point guard for now. And see what either Cam or Tari can be at the 2. Draymond comparison is completely laughable because he was surrounded by shooters already. And I’m not even sure what comparison you’re making with Giannis as he is a center. Again completely different expectations. Just like my opinion would be different if Amen was the starting point guard, that changes the dynamics. Unfortunately, I would be surprised if Stone would allow Ime to make any change with Jalen this year. Stone has got to protect that trade value. His future may be tied to it.
Using a sample size of only 44 possessions, which is equivalent to only like 22 mins of an actual NBA game, to prove a point is nasty work! We all can agree that Amen is a great young players with high upside and defensive tenacity that can help this team. But purposefully excluding JG in a super small sample size to make a point, seems like a bit of agenda pushing to me tbh. And if Amen should start, it should be in Dillon’s place. He has no real future on the team anyway, and the starting 5 player great with Amen in his place. Plus, it’s not about who starts it’s about who finishes. Btw, we’re 2-5 when Amen plays more than 30 mins in a game and 1-5 when he’s STARTING. See how we can provide data to support/refute any argument?
Because this channel uses analytical information and good ol common sense to make assessments. They don't talk from an emotional standpoint like others do.
Because Jalen isn't a good starter, love the kid, and hope he continues to develop, but as of right now, objectively he is not a good starter. I am okay with letting another high pick get a shot. It's the Houston Rockets, not the Houston (insert a player i like).
we all watch the games live.. JG just dont have it. we hoped, we all thought he can be a or even be the dude on this team. no one hates him here.. to JG fans pls.. cmon!!
Green is more valuable long term than Brooks or Fred. I'd bench Brooks and move him in the offseason. I don't want the Rockets to be the goofs the Kings were by moving young talent too early in their careers (i.e. Haliburton). Brooks and Fred are both place fillers for Amen and Tari/Cam. Keep the six together like Tillman alluded to in the game last nnight
Blows my mind that the Thompson twins are such good athletes with great IQ that they can immediately be elite defenders. I’ll take Amens constant all around play vs Jalen’s occasional offense.
We gotta find a way to get Ausar
Superb episode as always. One more thing about Amen, he knows how to play with Alperen, he knows how to cut.
It must be just amazing to play with him. He is always thinking about making the pass and knows where everyone is at all times. Really is fun to watch.
he is amazing, the way he reads the game and reacts!! nba is full of athletic players.. but can they really play? can they see it? Amen can!!
I agree with you Frank Amen should start and your right he does gives us easy shots. One of the reasons is because instead of standing around he either cuts to the basket and gets a bucket from a Sengun pass
He always around the dunker spot.So whenever he that close guys can drive and either kick it to him for a easy dunk or if they misses it he always there to get the rebound
He like a combo guard/wing. I just think Amen needs to start because of his defense rebounding and energy. He sort of has that Tari like energy a bit.

Who’s Reed Shepherd fam ? What position and height ?

There is one person you didn't mention and his name is CAM WHITMORE and he will be a SUPERSTAR for the Houston Rockets..
I hope tari can come back from his mysterious injury soon and win a role in our starting lineup:
fvv
Amen
Bari (sf)
Tari
Goon
Let dillon, jalen and can off the bench.
Where’s AL P !??
ı thınk amen should be in starter 5 now he ready who should be bench off ı thınk jalen
I really like uh players
As long as ppl understand that the Thomson twins arnt franchise players....they do however have the chance to be huge contributors on championship teams. Kinda like Kirilenko and taysean prince
Amen reminds me of Ben Simmons when he first got in the league.. He just meed a stretch big next to him and its a wrap
That’s actually depressing. Don’t want no Ben Simmons
@@gregfoster6916 Before the meltdown
amen & podz aka mini-dray are making similar impacts on their teams. ime should take notes
All you guys that wanted the Rockets to get Bol Bol were right. That dude is ballin'
lol if he could get a jumper... His future is already great, I mean what he does defensivly and rebounds and fast breaks. But a jumper just would put him on that crazy super star tier.
It wouldn’t hurt for him to start .
I’d trade Jalen straight up for Ausar Thompson. Clearly I’m not a GM but that’s how feel🤣
Amen's injury extended Jalen's runway a little bit. Thompson should really start over Green, but that would poison the water. Once they do that (and they should) they have to trade Jalen. Psychologically, he seems like the kind who would become a cancer in the locker room.
💯 agree, it’s a big deal if they bench him. To me it would be over because I don’t see amen relinquishing the spot
It’s crazy how Jalen green is not ending games…
What's crazier is how he's not playing good enough to finish games 🤯
What’s crazy about it? Dude stinks!
@@pon372 he just posted a triple double…
Basically! He’s a flat out beast. He should never play under 30 minutes a game. I don’t care if he starts as long as he finishes. I’m good!
Anybody at 4
Stone did. The job of the GM isn't just drafting though, but you know that.
Amen is a udoka guy , stone had to pick him but cam whitmore was a udoka guy also , they are both dawgs , udoka type players , Jalen was drafted by stone , he is not a dog that’s why you see Jalen being benched down the stretch
Stone burner account?
Peace Go Rockets Great win Coogs...on their way to
🤟🏾😤🤟🏾
Amen not starting is the elephant in the room.
It's so hard to block Kevin Durant's shot 🫣 🚀
Bro Vanvleet our biggest contract is shooting the same field goal% as Jalen and avg less for the contract he’s on but let’s scapegoat the 22 yo
Fred is the most impactful player on the team by every metric.. as with Amen shooting isn’t the only thing that makes a player good or bad
that's crazy :)
Think rockets should draft shead.
Baby Giannis
Trade Jalen for Ausar and a first round pick
Not sure we can survive both twins lol
Wishful thinking. No team is giving up lottery talent for Jalen at this point. We'll be lucky to get a late first.
@@daveruss9972 facts
@@ROCKETSCHOPSHOP triplets. You forgot Alperene Thompson
we are not trading for jalen green even tho hes a top talent we feel ausar will be a superstar . but i see i problem we both have with both twins. they play so hard they are always getting dinged up .
Once jalen trade in other this team is like a Toronto team a team with a player on defense like a Fred siakam aninuoby Barnes but they are always playin that what ime want in this team he pattern not win championship but playin only in playoff mark my word 3 years from now
He will replace van vleek
Amen may play PF, JAbari can play SF, jalen can play PG, Sengun can play PF:)))...There is no center:))
Jalen Green can barely play basketball at the nba level let alone be a starting point guard.
Oh yeah, you're 12
Jabari and Alpi are good, but Tari, Cam, Amen are special.
It's to early to say that he is like Draymond hope jalen find a new home next season he is not fit in imes system
I hope you taught Amen to hit his 3 pointers otherwise bad take!
Jalen ain’t exactly Steph Curry my guy
@@ROCKETSCHOPSHOPlol!!
@@ROCKETSCHOPSHOPnever said it should be Jalen. But if you’re pairing with Fred and Dillon it needs to be a better shooter like Cam or Tari. My guy!
1. Don’t think amens drive to be better in something we need to worry about.
2. Coaches reward overall impact not just 1 thing you’re good at.
Put Boobie in!
Bye
Amen no shooting alpi ni outside shooting two player on this Houston all opponent do is to clog the lane and this team will be trash
Why is this channel so quick to bench JG? Why not have them both start...??
Because this channel uses analytical information and good ol common sense to make assessments. They don't talk from an emotional standpoint like others do.
Dillion is more impactful than Jalen and Amen is too as of late
Because Jalen isn't a good starter, love the kid, and hope he continues to develop, but as of right now, objectively he is not a good starter. I am okay with letting another high pick get a shot. It's the Houston Rockets, not the Houston (insert a player i like).
@@EF_HUTTON I agree that yes recently brooks has been pretty solid I'd still take JG over him
we all watch the games live..
