@edkk2010 normally I'd agree but this is the great thing about the Rockets young core. In the future With Jabari and either Cam or Tari playing the 3 and Jalen or Cam at the 2, Amen can get away with not being a great shooter because you'll have three shooters on the floor.
Amen sucks and is too selfish to be a PG. He is just like Tate except Amen' defense is top-notch.
When you talk about a "duo", its not Jalen and Amen, its Jalen and Cam with FVV at point.

Wrong. You can't get away with that. It only takes one weak link to break an offense down.
Teams knows Amen can't shoot. That's why he's often left wide open. That means his man is helping double one of our better shooters like FVV and Green.
So, you never want a weak link in your 5. All 5 should be able to hit 3s. In that regard, Cam make the most sense because he can hit 3s.
@judarod1 plenty of teams have players who can't shoot. Really almost all teams do, including recent Champs like the Nuggets and Warriors with Gordon, Looney, and Draymond. It just so happens that ours is the PG. Amen should work and improve the jumper but he does so much on the floor both ends that contributes to winning.

Amen Thompson plays lowkey like a big man 😂 he’s basketball a fast athletic center out there
He blocked jump shots from Durant and Bol Bol in like a 2 mins stretch during a game vs PHX. Jump shots. Insane. That is the entire point of Durant. That he just shoots over you. Amen just shuts that entire notion down. Freakish player and talent who is only 6'6" . He is a lot of fun to watch due to that and his high BBall IQ.

Amen is both deceptively quick and strong, add this with his length and IQ and you have an all NBA defender. What’s interesting is that Amen was drafted for his passing and PG skills. It’s amazing how efficient he can be on offense, he gets 12-15 a game just on put backs, cuts and easy finds under the basket. If he can ever figure out how to shoot then you have a 20+ pts per game superstar.
Amen is going to be a star in this league

Lets not forget that Amen missed most all of the first half of this season with an injury. So really he is just halfway through his rookie season.

I also must admit that when watching the Rockets games I have a hard telling Amen Thompson from Jalen Green. They look so much a like from a distance.
After one of them makes a play I'm like "Was that Green or Thompson"? I have to look at the number on their jersey on the replay.

Been watching him a lot this year: I like how much of a bully he can be. I’ve seen him multiple times pushing on his opponents trying to bully them to get more space on the court. When a shot goes off he’s always under the basket ready to rebound. Ime definitely getting the best out of him.

Generational athlete and a generational defender
It's starting to look like Thomson is special. Defensively and offensively. Jalen is finally proving that he is as well, and if you have been paying attention to Sengun this year, you know that is also a keystone type of player, but someone I think is missed too often, because he was playing injured and is now out, is Tari Eason.
He's got great defensive instincts, has a 7'3" wing span and shot 36% from downtown. Despite that is also very quick and can guard 1-5 just like Thompson. Even playing hurt he was a spark plug getting 1.4 steals and almost a block a game. He's a better defensive and rebounding version of Jabari which helps to balance out their lack of a true rim protector when Sengun or Joc Landale is at the center spot.
He's a key part of their core 6 and I completely expect him to break out the next year or 2 as one of the leagues premier 3 and D guys. He would have gotten far more than 22 mins a game this year if not playing with a really painful bone injury on his foot that only got worse and required surgery to remedy.
These Rockets are going to be pretty scary next year, when they get Adams to deal with really big lineups like MIN and have forwards like Eason and Thompson coming in to help contest passing lanes and shots at such a high level. That and because these guys are SO YOUNG, if they just lock themselves in the gym during the offseason, they will grow leaps and bounds and just blow everyone's minds as they start to take over the league. They aren't MIN yet but I see the Rockets pushing into the 4th or 5th seed next year, easy.

Beileve it or not! Alperen Sengun is a Amazing Player! I Love him on the squad! But to be honest I think he is Holding this Roster Back! Yes Sengun scored 25-35 any given Night but he is way to slow! In order for him to thrive everyone else arround him suffer! Because our Gaurds and Forwards are Pure Speed attackers! Like Jalen Amen amd Cam Whitmore they all Puah the Ball and attack quick thats there game! Alperen makes them slow the game down for him to prosper wich chamges there game they cant Play Fast. Which Causes us to lose alot of Games! Ever sense Alperen went down It seems like Jalen Green is averaging almost 35-43 Points a Night easy ungaradble! I think Sengun is Holding this Roster back to be honest its clear as day.

Green is trash. He's been trash since he was drafted. He's had 4 good games and now he's the man?? Stop it. Sengun is the best player on this team and they are building around sengun. Green is a poor man's Lavine...a good role player
Alperen is not slow. The people around him were not running into empty spaces. They couldn't make a basket with the balls Alperen gave them. Did Alperen slow down the team? Of course not...

And say what you want about Green but he is averaging 35-43 without Sengun and The Rockets are winning Games with out Sengun actually almost undefeated without Segun and with Sengun there Loosing Games!
