@@gotenks157 Even that is a problem. The song may be public domain, but the map itself is a work protected by copyright. Now, neither Bsaber, nor BeatSaver have an implicite license under which the maps are published and I think I've seen a map with an explicitely stated license exactly once. So a mapper could sue an arcade using his map. Would he win? Probably not, but since nothing was written, it'd be up to the judge's interpretation of what could be reasonably expected in that situation. Either way, it would be messy and costly and no sane business would ever expose itself like that.
@@hellterminator If you upload something you own to a server whose primary intent and purpose is for the public to be able to freely download it and then try to sue someone for doing that, I'm pretty sure you'd be laughed out of the court... and have to pay attorney's fees for the party you're trying to sue.
@@vbscript2 I did say they'd probably lose, but if they refused summary judgement and forced the case to go to jury, anything can happen. And you're wrong on your second point. In the US, copyright lawsuits are extra fucked in that even if you win, you do not get your legal expense covered by the losing party by default, you have to sue for that separately (which rarely happens, usually the parties sign a deal to not sue for legal expense and in return the other party promises not to appeal).
He actually meant it in a sense that businesses operating for profit cant use custom songs for their setups due to licensing and copyright issues, its entirely fine for at home users not using their VR for a business to play custom songs.

@@satthardy I don't know how it is in America, but usually, with software, you buy the right to use it; but not to modify it, which i think makes custom things illegal. I don't know beat saber enough tho, but if they provide an intended functionality to do this, then it would be legal, if not, it isn't.
Bruh people dont go to vr places to judge u lol they would be too busy worrying about their own game. Also no one would care at all if ur bad at a video game
The thing about rhythm games is that nobody is good at them at the beginning. It would be a lot more believable if you started off with Normal and the like, then go straight to expert thereafter.
Actually that's incorrect. Rhythm games are all about patterns. If you can decipher the patterns quick enough you can be extremely good at the game first try.
I think that it would put too much strain on your eyes.... it might help you lose weight and be more muscular and strong, but your eyes will be so tired, and you’ll need glasses lol
@@spaghetti7180 Not Really, the only actual damage you can do is "hardening" from eyes drying out, meaning as long as you purposely force yourself to blink you'll be fine. Eye strain isn't really a problem as you let the lenses do their job as long as the headset is properly attached. Everything else is wives tale crap, it would be a problem with 1st or even 2nd gen tube TVs from the late 20's and early 30's, after that though there is zero harmful radiation or anything people like to make up. Needing glasses, myopia, near sightedness is caused by physical defect, either genetically, or a defect of when the body grows, eye strain has zero to do with that.
I wonder, if my skills in osu will transfer here, like expert+ seems like AR9.3-ish for me, so like a 5.5* Idk why im even trying to scale it dont mind me
Ever heard of maimai. It basically osu for the entire upper body. There are literally songs so hard you have to hit all 8 button and then your body as well to beat
Aydoğan Arslantaş Yeah but maimai players are addicted coke users. Like 1 game has 4 songs. Each game cost around 2 bucks depending on area. Each game last 15 minutes. And they can play from dawn till dusk. I remember 1 time a spent around 50 a day just to get better and I went to the arcade everyday
It's super cool seeing that these local businesses are passionate about their product and the people involved with it. If I'm ever out that way, I'll have to check these places out =D
it'd be fun to act and fail at easier difficulties so the owners of these places really believe you guys to be beginners and then surprise them by killing it later on!
I'm not really surprised that most people have a hard time playing Beat Saber on anything above "normal" at places like this. I now own a VR headset, and I don't see any reason to go out and make myself look like a fool in public. I can play at home after all. After about 7 hours of in-game time with most of the time practicing songs on Expert/Expert+ I can play the songs pretty comfortably on Expert. Even the songs I haven't played before are going pretty decent. But if I didn't have a VR headset I'd have to go to places like this to play and I'd never get the chance to become really good at it. It's nice to be privileged I guess 😬
I should buy VR, get good at Beat Saber, then do this at a VR Arcade myself; Perhaps my leg-seizure-like DDR moves and arm twitching Osu! experience translates... .... I'll become the local noodle arm flailing jujitsu weeb sensei huhu
Buddy it’s probably take you at least 1 week if you never leave the expert song until you beat it. Or a month for me took 7 hours straight playing an expert song which was the new boxing anime sorry I forgot the name
If you have ever played the really stupid flash game bullet force, i do basically the same thong with it, ill start really nooby, then next round absolutely destroy everyone.
I like to start my minecraft pvp matches by losing to lure them into a false sense of security, and to complete the illusion i lose the all the last rounds too
I did the exact same thing at Wizard World Comicon, PDX! I drew a small crowd and completely floored the people working the stand. I started off with 100 Bills on easy and missed a ton of notes on purpose. They put me through the tutorial and I went "oh i think i get it" and rapidly switched to TTFAF on expert and destroyed it. One employee just sighed and was like, "there had to be the one guy who would pull this" (Edit: Also i happen to be in LA on vacation atm so HI HUHUHUHU) (Edit 2: Im going to go to college in Santa Barbara do you wanna go get coffee some time? On me? Huhu-senpai?)
I’m from Australia and I visited the US last year and went to this exact VR arcade in LA and did the same thing pretending to be a new at beat saber and “accidentally” hitting expert+ and got a full combo and I remember taking the headset off and him having a shocked look on his face.

But it is illegal for a business to host copyrighted songs. Could probably download beat maps that have songs from the public domain though.
Wow... After hearing that last guy in the arcade, I feel great that I’m getting pretty good at Expert, at 51 years old. The game actually helped me get more motion and less pain in my rotator cuffs.. so you could say it was even physical therapy for me. You guys rock!!

Actually it is. You need to own licencing to play songs in public, in stores/etc.
@@DarkBykeTwitch but what if the song and the beat map was personally made?
@@satthardy I don't know how it is in America, but usually, with software, you buy the right to use it; but not to modify it, which i think makes custom things illegal. I don't know beat saber enough tho, but if they provide an intended functionality to do this, then it would be legal, if not, it isn't.

The thing about rhythm games is that nobody is good at them at the beginning. It would be a lot more believable if you started off with Normal and the like, then go straight to expert thereafter.

Imagine how much weight you'll lose playing this game
I saw a video of a guy telling about beat saber improving his life and making him lose weight
Dude..
I think that it would put too much strain on your eyes.... it might help you lose weight and be more muscular and strong, but your eyes will be so tired, and you’ll need glasses lol
So you get to become a buff dude with cute glasses? Sign me up.
I love the Persona 5 music in background

Epic gamer moment.
Man beat saber players are basically cooler osu players.
I would never impress anybody with my osu skills.
we feel ya
I wonder, if my skills in osu will transfer here, like expert+ seems like AR9.3-ish for me, so like a 5.5*
Idk why im even trying to scale it dont mind me
Ever heard of maimai. It basically osu for the entire upper body. There are literally songs so hard you have to hit all 8 button and then your body as well to beat
Beat saber players are osu players but richer
Aydoğan Arslantaş Yeah but maimai players are addicted coke users. Like 1 game has 4 songs. Each game cost around 2 bucks depending on area. Each game last 15 minutes. And they can play from dawn till dusk. I remember 1 time a spent around 50 a day just to get better and I went to the arcade everyday

it'd be fun to act and fail at easier difficulties so the owners of these places really believe you guys to be beginners and then surprise them by killing it later on!
There is a clear line of knowing how to play beat saber and getting lucky, and its pretty obvious if you played before
I'm not really surprised that most people have a hard time playing Beat Saber on anything above "normal" at places like this.
